So I finally have my car back! The dealer had it for 3 days (first day they lost power, so they couldn't do anything to it). I must say I am really disappointed with my dealer's service/body shop. They fixed the fender, but I can tell it was fixed. The fender is straight now, the the paint job is crappy. On the top side the there's a small dip where the original paint came off and new paint came on - almost like they didn't fill it in before they re-painted it. But that's not all! The fender is not flush with the bumper - it sticks out about 2-3 mm at the top and is pushed in 1-2 at the bottom. The interior of the car is filthily! There's dust everywhere! Apparently the bodyshop area is REALLY dusty filled with small particles - but how did they get INSIDE the car? They replaced the piano black trim around the cupholders (my original had scratches) with another one from a car on the lot. Well the new one has more scratches than the one they took off - WTF ?? And that's not all - they took it off an Energi, so now instead of having one Park Assist button and a black cover next to it, I have two buttons: EV and gas lid release !!! Seriously ??? They couldn't even find a car with the same buttons as mine ??? Needless to say, I'm not happy - talked with my service advisor and the service manager and they're going to call me back to schedule another appointment to fix their mistakes ... They're also going to detail it and get rid of all the dust. I'm glad I got my car back, but man... how can they be so incompetent! ??

Just remember to stop when you hear the continuous beep and you'll be fine :) -
Park Assist - Dumb Questions...Or maybe not
neod192 replied to smr2112's topic in Advanced Driver Assistance Technologies
You control the gear (drive/reverse/park) and the speed (accelerate or brake as needed). The car will tell you when to put the car in reverse or in drive. Once it's in reverse, I let go of the brake pedal and it starts moving (normal operation). Since I like to park slowly, I don't use the gas pedal, and just let it roll into the parking spot - I only use the brake pedal to stop it :) It has to detect something to park next to, so a curb with no obstacles won't work. I've tested it on parking lots where people pull in to park and I parked perpendicular to the other cars :) -
It can do that if it's not charging the battery. When the battery is charging I see about 20 MPGs on the instant bar. It's closer to 40 (or higher) when the battery is full.

Confirmed :) Who's managing these forums anyway? :-p

Regenerative Braking System & Coasting
neod192 replied to neod192's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
Every once in a while I see the up arrow if I let go of the gas pedal and I'm going downhill. If I'm on a flat road, I don't see the up arrow and I'm assuming it's not actually charging. -
Yeah, it stops it from rolling back for sure. The shifter does have an L.

So does hill assist just apply the brakes faster and limits the variance more than regular CC? Still not sure what hill assist really does!

http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/6441-cracked-chipping-paint/ I don't roll through stop signs (already got a ticket for that, so no more!), but will roll through right turns w/ green lights or try and time the lights so that I don't have to fully stop. -

Do you have teenagers? Those back windows are perfect for hooking up!

Does regular CC limit how fast your car goes, or not? I'm pretty sure my Gti only allows a 5 mph variance from the set speed.

Thanks! My brake score is around 98% and I'll have to check the braking bar after I get my car back from the bodyshop :(. That bar only shows recent driving, so it might not be a good representation of driving style over a long period of time. -
Premium Maintenance Plan from Ford ESP
neod192 replied to wacevedo's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Check out floodfordesp.com. You'll see they offer the extended service plan (ESP) and maintenance plans at the lowest prices. They're completely separate and the maintenance plan covers routing maintenance: oil changes, brakes, everything the manual says you need. Here is more info on the maintenance plans: http://www.floodfordesp.com/premium_maintenance.php- 3 replies

Yup! I had a week to go over the car and find out what's wrong with it. This is one of the many little things. The moonroom is also sticking up on the driver's side and rubs against of the car's roof when I open it - they're fixing that too. I also had a white mark on the steering column and a few faint scratches on the piano shiny surface by the cup holders.

So I dropped off my Fusion to fix this: Notice how the paint in the corner is cracked and started peeling off ? Yeah, that's how it came off the truck :( Not impressed with Ford's quality so far ... The dealer called and the tip of the fender is officially rolled in. They're going to have to take it off, straighten it up, touch it up with paint and put it back on. My car's spending the night at the dealer! :(

Regenerative Braking System & Coasting

Thanks, it's my first Hybrid so at least I don't have to adjust to it from another hybrid :) I do have to adjust from driving a manual Gti... -
Most of the time I use the brakes I don't come to a full stop, so I can't see the brake score. Am I correct in assuming that I'm still recovering energy even if I don't come to a full stop? I think that's actually better, because you don't have to get the car moving from a full stop, thus using even more energy that you gain by stopping all the way. I'm starting to doubt this because the battery doesn't seem to really charge from the regen bakes when I do this and my Regen miles are pretty low. Please tell me I'm not insane ! :) I've seen decent recharges when I get off the highway (60 mph) and come to a complete stop - it charges about 1/4 of the battery. I'm also letting go of the gas pedal and coats to a light, and only use the brakes for the last portion of the trip, so I don't get a lot of use out of the regen brakes - the car seems to want to stop on its own! I can't estimate distances very well, so can't say how quickly it slows down, but it's definitely faster than my manual Gti. My wife noticed this too - it doesn't coast as far as a gas car does.

Do you mind posting that link to your video again? I can't seem to be able to find it.
