  1. Keeps randomly turning off showing Safety Now feature which turns the whole car off. Even with gas it will not go. Anyone else having this problem?
  2. Iā€™m selling my 2012 Fusion with Sony Soundsystem and I want to delete the more than 1000 songs on the jukebox, preferably not one-by-one as appears to be the only method supported by the interface. Is there any way to wipe the whole disk?
  3. So I have 92,000 miles and when I start the car no warning lights come on. When I start to brake the regen brakes work fine but right before the car comes to a complete stop at about 5mph itā€™s like the brakes lock up for a split second and the car ā€œjerksā€ and then the brake, abs, and traction control warning lightscome on. Disabling the regen brakes (which is annoying) and the abs system BUT the car doesnā€™t jerk anymore when coming to a stop. I took it to a ford delearship and replaced the master cylinder for $1100... and it helped for 1day then the next morning it happens again. The only code my car puts out on my scan tool is C1029 which we thought was the brake master cylinder . Please please please Can anyone help me
  4. Hello, Back in 2012, I purchased an used 2002 Toyota Prius with 80k miles at an auction for $4800. It was great and I averaged around 52mpg average upon usage. The model line of first generation prius (2001 - 2003) had some defects, but the main one was the extremely small tires. They needed replacement just over a year of usage (about 15k miles with my driving). Anyway, it recently gave out at 220k miles and the repairs were just too much for what the car was worth. After doing some research on what I'm looking for and what my needs are, I've landed on purchasing a Ford Fusion Hybrid. My main questions revolve around how high the MPG can go assuming you're using good MPG hybrid driving techniques and live in mostly sunny weather (Los Angeles). The EPA estimated MPG for old 2002 Prius was 41mpg, but I was about to reach around 52mpg. The Ford Fusion Hybrid had an EPA estimated 42mpg, and I was wondering if I would be able to stretch the MPG to around 52mpg or higher like I did my old hybrid? I've been reading the information on this forum which has been extremely helpful, and have even seen a 600 mile club! :)

  7. Hello all and thanks in advance for any help! I have a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid with 150k miles and all scheduled maintenance performed on-time. I have a Stop Safely Now light that started intermittently a little over a month ago and is now hard failed. The first time it happened was 5 weeks ago and I had just returned from a trip out of the country and the vehicle sat 10 days without running. After starting the car I was able to drive about 20 feet at which time I stopped to connect bluetooth and the SSN message illuminated. My first thought was dead or dying battery since I have heard this could cause SSN. I jumped the car and drove without issue for the next two weeks. Then three weeks ago I got in the car after leaving it parked overnight and drove for about 10 feet before I got SSN. This time I decided to bite the bullet and buy a new 12V battery without testing the installed battery. After installing the new battery I still had the SSN light and I called it a night. Further research shows the 12V battery I removed assuming it was dead was only installed 3 years ago and is likely in serviceable condition. After letting the car sit overnight with the new 12V battery installed I started it in the morning with no problem and did the fuel trim learning game. I drove with the new battery for 3 weeks with no issues until last weekend. Now the car has the Stop Safely Now light illuminated on key turn and it will not move under its own power. I used my OBD2 reader to download codes twice. The first set of codes was downloaded right after the battery change so I am assuming some of the codes are from that: C1600 - reverse input circuit C1015 - exhaust gas recirculation sensor B circuit high U3003 - battery voltage I cleared these codes after the battery change and I had no engine lights or driving issues until last weekend. I also checked the engineering fault code page on the dash after the battery change and I had no current or historic faults recorded. Now the car has a OBD2 code C1018 - regen braking and on the engineering fault code page it lists DTC C46200 as a historical fault. Keep in mind I am using a very basic OBD2 reader so it is likely missing some faults. I have been reading everywhere about the Stop Safely Now issue and it seems to stem from a number of different issues, the most frequent being a coolant pump. I could really use any advice in troubleshooting this issue myself (I am an aircraft mechanic) or relevant manual references. I am trying to avoid a costly stealership repair but I am pretty stuck at this point. Worth mentioning all of the fuses are in good shape! Please let me know if you have any questions that would help point in the right direction.
  8. Hello everyone, Just wanted to see if anyone else was suffering from "jerking" transmission. This problem started occurring in my 2015 Ford Fusion Energi about a week ago. It started with an occasional jerk under either light to moderate braking or acceleration, where for a moment it would seem that I would either loose regenerative braking (during braking) or loose power to the wheels (acceleration). The problem generally occurs once or twice when driving after startup, and can happen with the transmission cold or warm, and then goes away. The jerking or shudder occurs for only a moment or a few seconds. It occurs both with the electric motor, and the ICE, though the problem is much more noticeable when it happens with the ICE. No trouble codes have been set. Besides this problem, the car drives and handles fine, and provides no other clues (leaks, smells, discolored materials) that something is wrong. The real problem I've had (other than trying to diagnosis this) is to be able to get the problem to repeat. It's not consistent- sometimes it will happen, other times it won't. All my attempts to get the problem to repeat have so far failed. As soon as I can get the problem to occur consistently, I'll drive it down to the dealership, and be able to give precise instructions to a tech on how to illicit the problem. And yes, the car was purchased new and has 3200 original miles on it. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Rbrt
  9. I'm new to this forum. I joined because I'm looking into the Ford Fusion Hybrid or Lincoln MkZ Hybrid for my next daily driver. I've had three hybrid vehicles, two EV and two alternate fuel vehicles. So, while new to Ford's technology, I'm not new to the culture. My current daily driver is a 2011 Toyota Prius 3. I bought it January 8, 2012 (the King's birthday, uh huh) and have put over 75k miles on it since then. I'm a domestic car fan. I've always tried to buy domestic, however when I purchased my hybrids, the US alternatives were not there. That has now changed. When I purchased the Prius, my daughter said that I lost a hundred cool points. I'm not sure which impressed me more, that I had a hundred cool points or that the Prius took away that many. Right now, I'm considering the Lincoln MkZ Hybrid, the Ford Fusion Hybrid, or the Toyota Avalon Hybrid. I'm going to spend some time reading and absorbing some knowledge from the forum. I found the forum via a search where I was trying to ascertain the difference between the SE and the Titanium models and whether it is worth it. I am thrifty but I like my gadgets. 10. I would. And that's exactly the situation we found ourselves in this week. Let me explain... The recent purchases reported online of leftover 2013 FFHs & FFEs along with 2013 C-Maxes made me curious as to how many 2013s are left new on dealer lots across the country. So I spent a few minutes searching on cars.com and saw that there are still quite a few around. I noticed that a lot of the leftover vehicles seem to be rather basic models, without a lot of the advanced driver assistance technologies. And quite a few of the Fusions have MFT & Nav without many other options. Then I happened upon a loaded Energi Titanium with all the advanced driver assistance options just like we had on the white FFH. Out of curiosity I e-mailed the dealer to see how low they'd be willing to sell it. The prices on cars.com basically all showed just MSRP or only a very small discount. The dealer e-mailed me back and indicated that they were willing to knock about $15k off MSRP (about 33%). I then wrote back to see what they'd give us in trade for our FFH. I decided before I wrote them that the only way we'd do anything is if they were willing to give us $1500 above KBB for the trade. I decided upon this price because it would allow us to get the Energi for free, the tax credit basically equals the difference. Their initial response was right at KBB trade-in value. Before I continue, I want to give you a little background on the dealer. They're a dealer in a small town in Wisconsin, about 4 hrs from Minneapolis. They're not near any big cities. They sell four brands at the one dealer building: Ford, Lincoln, Hyundai & Volkswagen. I had learned at a MNPEVOC (Minnesota Plug-in Vehicles Owners Circle) meeting that you can often find the best deals on plug-ins and battery electrics at small town dealers in the country that get sent a car that they don't know how to sell. A number of the Focus Electric owners in the group got their cars from dealers in rural MN or WI, same story for a few Energi owners in the group. Some of the Nissan Leaf owners also said that they found the best deals by getting a Leaf from a rural dealer rather than from one in the Twin Cities. A Mitsubishi iMiev owner did the same thing. Considering that this dealer has 70 trucks out of 100 new Fords on their lot I figured that they fit the same profile. On Tuesday I told the salesman that they'd have to do better on the trade difference to make it work. He spoke to the used car manager (also the finance manager who did our paperwork today, very small dealer) and offered another $1000 for the white FFH. I asked if I could discuss it with my wife and call him back Wednesday. After we agreed Tuesday night that we'd do it only of they'd give us another $500, I called the salesman and told him that on Wednesday morning. He said he'd ask and e-mail me. Less than 5 minutes later he e-mailed me and said they'd do it. Today we drove about 4 hours (220 miles) each way to Wisconsin and picked up the Energi Titanium. After the tax credit we will have paid less than $500 for the new Energi Titanium. And about $30 in gas total to drive 440 miles today. It was really incredible!! And I encourage anyone who's looking for a new FFH to consider one of the leftover 2013s because you can probably find a dealer who's desperate to get the car off their lot.
  11. I have said since January after driving our car on a long road trip and investigating the EPA test cycles and everything else that Ford took a calculated risk here. I doubt they planned for this decision to cost them upwards of $15 million in the cash payments, not counting the brand image damage, stock price hit and lost sales. I'd figure the stock damage alone could be hundreds of millions of dollars depending on how the market reacts today to this news. I wonder now how many people will lose their jobs who were part of the decision to save a maybe a few tens of thousands of dollars by not testing the C-Max separately (I have no idea what it costs a manufacturer to run the EPA cycles on their cars so I'm just guessing) when that decision will now cost Ford hundreds of millions. Some people place the blame squarely on Ford for this saying that they were unethical. The objective of a public company is to bring a return to their shareholders, ethics is not a part of business. I know that many of us likely go through yearly ethics training at work, but I also analyze and audit our employees' p-card usage and I see employees bending the rules and pushing the limits every single month. Just as individual employees think that way, the collective decision making of most companies thinks the same. If companies behaved ethically of their own accord we would never have had the Enron, Worldcom, Tyco, et al scandals. If companies behaved ethically there would be no need for Sarbanes Oxley. We aren't privy to the internal discussions between Ford executives and the EPA to know what happened, but I would venture a guess that the EPA tested the C-Max, got lower numbers and they gave Ford the chance to address it. Ford technically didn't break, or even bend, any rules, but the EPA would have had to release their results which would have made Ford look bad. I think that just as much blame belongs with the EPA as with Ford for having such stupid rules that caused this to happen in the first place. If the EPA had better rules, i.e. mandating all 5 cycles for all vehicles and no more of this letting one vehicle determine the ratings for another when the cd is so different that it will have a material effect on the results. It's also important to note that Ford isn't the only company to do this. Honda just released a new hybrid in Japan that beats the Prius on the Japanese test cycle for fuel economy, but everyone knows that the Honda hybrid will not beat the Prius fuel economy in the real world. Honda merely programmed that car to ace the Japanese tests. So what? Buyer beware is still the adage that we should all live by.
  12. Hey everyone, been stalking the blogs still, but haven't been posting lately. I wanted to drop by and let you all know about a really cool event happening in Roanoke, VA this weekend. The Virginia Tech Hybrid Electric Vehicle Team (HEVT) and Virginia Clean Cities is co-hosting an alternative fuel vehicle car show this Saturday. If I can, I plan to make it there (I may even offer to exhibit my own car as they're looking for owners to do so and vouch for their experiences owning the cars) and get the inside scoop on a lot of these different hybrids and electric vehicles. The initial bulletin about the event states: The link is here: http://vthevt.blogspot.com/2014/03/innovation-under-hood-roanokes-green.html If I can go, I'll definitely update the community on anything I learn or find interesting.

  14. The info on 2014 Fusion is out on ford.com but the new colors Dark side & Sunset pics on the website are not very revealing. I asked with the ford rep via chat, they informed me that the Sunset is like Burnt orange which is very dark orange & Dark side is almost black with hint of very dark green. I contacted my dealer he told me that Dark side is almost black with hint of very very dark grey ... I'm confused as to where to get the right info from ? I've already put in the order for 2014 fusion HyTi in Sterling Gray Metallic color & was seriously considering to change the order to Dark side. Any info/Pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ford Fusion HyTi Owner.
  15. I knew that the Fusion is a Top Safety Pick + from the IIHS but just noticed today that this designation only applies to cars built after December 2012...our car was built on 11/29/12. Does anyone know what changed from the earliest cars to ones built after December 2012? Below are links to the IIHS results. They say that vehicles built after December 2012 had "structural changes". Did anyone ever see any press releases about these changes explaining what was changed? Detailed test results print view: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/ford/fusion?print-view Ford Fusion page: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/ford/fusion I'd really like to know what these "structural changes" were to understand what is deficient in our early build FFH.
  16. I know that the 2010 Hybrid, S, SE and SEL all come with or are available with a 2.5L 152 Cu. In. Inline 4. Is the engine in the Hybrid exactly the same as the one in the other 3 sub-models? Would I be able to use the same parts on my Hybrid that are available for the other types? Thanks!
  17. I'm less than impressed with the steering wheel in my new HyTi. It is leather wrapped and all, but feels too thin in my hands (and my hands are not too big..).. There small areas on each side that are thicker which is where I guess most people hold the wheel as they drive. I would swear that the steering wheel on the car I took out for a test drive before I bought mine had a better steering wheel (more substance to it). Here's a pic. IS this what the HyTi should have installed?

  19. Ok I want to see what others do and how it might be affecting fuel economy. I use my remote start pretty much every day in the morning but not in the afternoon. I have not seen any real difference in fuel economy even when the ICE runs in the morning to warm up. I am curious as to how others use it and if you have seen any fuel economy difference.
  20. Through these great forum threads I learned that some dealers are passing the increased price of Fusion Hybrids to buyers at the time of pick up. I contacted my dealership to ensure they will not do this. My sales person assured me this won't happen and once more committed to the price we negotiated at the time of order. And he documented that commitment on email. Having said that he also mentioned that "You will have some optional Items presented to you, and if you are interested, you can take advantage of those". He has been very honest so far, but didn't volunteer any details on what those options items are. ESP is an obvious one. Wondering if those of you who already have picked up your cars at the dealer could throw some light into what additional items the dealers will try to sell you. Also, Is roadside assistance included in the std warranty offered by Ford, or would that be one of those extra things they will try to sell? Thanks!
  21. Anyone catch The Amazing Race tonight? The 2 winners of tonight's leg each got a 2013 Ford Fusion, I assume it was a ICE SE based on the description given.
  22. I will apologize before I ask the question, but I could not find any comments on this. I searched for the Fusion Hybrid Owner's manual in motorcraftservice.com. There are 3 different printings of the manual. I opened the last one. The Title is 2013 Fusion Owner's Manual, it does not say "hybrid", and I could not find a single reference to "electric engine", or the word "hybrid" in the manual. Am I looking at the correct manual?
  23. Hi there, forum folks! I just purchased a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid a few weeks ago and thought that I'd join and share my experiences. This is my first hybrid vehicle. I should say that I am a former leadfoot but have since slowed down somewhat :-) My driving conditions typically range from city to highway driving. But since I live in Chicago it's always a traffic jam for me. On the bright side, this gives me a chance to let the car flex it's muscles, so to speak. So far, I am quite happy with the Fuel economy that I get with the new Ford fusion. I am currently working on 42 mpg in somewhat warm weather. However, I do notice that it gives me worse fuel economy in colder temperatures. But I suppose that is to be expected. Overall, I do like this car. It is still going through it's break in period and I've just about reached an empty tank. Looks like I'm getting about 430 miles per fill up. It's a pretty big improvement over my 19 mpg with my old SUV :-)
  24. If you live in the North Texas area, bring your Fusion Hybrid to Bill Utter Ford in Denton on Saturday. They are celebrating Earth Day and I'll be talking at noon about "Owning an Electric Car in the Real World." It's a good chance to meet each other and enjoy a free catered lunch. (I saw a nice white fully loaded Titanium Energi there a few days ago too.) http://youtu.be/vgRN2SuuXaY
  25. Just wanted to say hello and that I absolutely love my new Fusion Hybrid Titanium! I have only had it about a week and a half and have 1300 miles on it. Such a great car to drive and I have averaged 39-40 mpg with 60% of that being interstate 60 to 75 mph. I use EcoCriuse as much and as often as I can.
