We haven't ever had an issue.

If it really can achieve 45 MPG combined with folding rear seats and minimal trunk intrusion it could cut into sales of the Fusion Hybrid and Camry Hybrid. Hopefully it will just spur more consumers to buy hybrids. I'd really like to see GM put this powertrain or the Volt powertrain into a crossover or small SUV.

Looks great! Here are a few articles: http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1097420_chevrolet-malibu-hybrid-volts-sibling-without-a-plug-may-be-first-of-several http://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1097428_2016-chevy-malibu-hybrid-to-take-volts-powertrain-to-the-masses#src=10065

Ford's new car will force you to obey the speed limit

Sounds like a great system!! We need this in the Focus Electric. It's so peppy that I find it easy to go too fast in the city. Especially since I'm used to driving the Fusion Energi which is far less peppy in EV mode. -
Are you using the advanced trip meter which shows gallons used? As others have stated, if you reset that at each tank & use a site like Fuelly it's easy to track the computer error. Check out my tanks via the Fuelly signature. I've tried to record what the car reports for gallons with each fill-up for comparison purposes.

The elevation difference is starting and ending elevation. For example, our elevation at home is 770 feet and the elevation at work is 750 feet. This 20 foot difference is very noticeable in the MPGe in the Energi since when I drive it's only 1.3 miles.

We got 6" Sunday afternoon & overnight too. Gas prices have jumped here, up around $2.50 now, prices have jumped $0.25 in the last couple weeks. -
Sounds like you have the base S trim then. The S Hybrid has no trim emblem on the trunk because it is the base model. Why did they move away from PHEVs to regular hybrids?

Get our local Ford rep involved. Search for username FordService and send her a PM. Have you communicated to the dealer that you did not authorize them to cut the seat belt and charge you for it? I would point out to the dealer the SSM listed in an earlier post to show that Ford recognizes this issue and does not instruct the dealer to cut the seat belt to fix it. The dealer did not follow Ford's diagnostic/repair procedure when they cut the seat belt.

Which wheels & tires do you have?

I've always thought the hood was very sturdy. It is heavy and closes with a loud thunk.

The Volt qualifies for $7500 in federal tax credit. This lowers the capitalized cost more than the $4007 tax credit for the Energi.

I think your situation may be better with EV+ turned off. How close to the start of your commute are those lights? Would you be able to inch out and not have the ICE turn on before those lights? When we had our hybrid we would not use EV+ because we could get better MPG if we could inch along in EV mode until we got onto a busy road about 1-2 blocks away from home. Sometimes if the HVB charge was high enough we could wait until getting past the 2nd light about 4-5 blocks from home before turning on the ICE. This would help optimize our MPGs. Unfortunately not. I wish there was.

I don't think you can lease an Energi for as little as the Volt. The Volt MSRP is fairly comparable but it gets a larger tax credit which helps in a lease.

Me too. That's why I get my tires rotated for free at Discount Tire. I'll do them every 5000 miles because it only takes about 15 minutes waiting for them at 15 minutes driving time for a 30 minute round-trip. I'll let the dealer or someone else change my oil in the Fusion since oil prices have gone up so much to buy oil and a filter at the auto parts store. It'll cost me $20 at the auto parts store and about an hour to change oil or I can spend $20 at a Jiffy Lube or similar location and spend about the same hour sitting in their waiting room. The only downside to letting someone else change oil is the risk that they'll screw it up.

Congrats & welcome! What have the temps been like in Mass for your first few days of ownership? Warmer weather brings increased MPGs. The MPG difference might be due to an elevation change. There are cell phone apps you can download to see what the elevation is at work and at home.

I think acdii is saying that the iOS Sync Destinations app detects vehicle motion via phone GPS. I will try it and see. When you turn off access to location data for the app it gives you an annoying popup every time you open the app.
-
I have been avoiding the site since it has so many issues. The only thing I can think of to go there for is to renew Sync Services annually.

Good thinking! I remember seeing a video or reading an article about how automakers pick paint colors and how they have to test them on all the different materials that go into the car to make sure that the paint will appear consistent on plastic, steel, aluminum, etc.

I've always believed that it's a bad idea to be stuck on one car brand. Brand loyalty is okay until it blinds you to seeing better options. My dad is very loyal to Chryslers and is determined that when my parents replace their Nissan Murano it will be with a Chrysler product. He doesn't care to look at any other vehicles. A Chrysler product may not be the best option for my parents but he's set in his ways. If that obsession with Chryslers blinds him to seeing a better vehicle made by another manufacturer then it'll be sad.
