UPDATE: GM says it will get 47 MPG combined!! http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1097420_chevrolet-malibu-hybrid-volts-sibling-without-a-plug-may-be-first-of-several

Highway driving in the Energi depletes range quickly. In the nice weather I can get close to 30 miles of range in the city. But at sustained 65 MPH the range would probably be 15-17 miles only. The Energi is great for shorter commutes. Your drive is long enough to warm up the ICE and get efficient FFH operation. A shorter commute wouldn't do that and then the Energi can really bring savings.

SSN messages should store a proprietary code that Ford can read via the IDS laptop. The Focus Electric seems to be plagued with this issue at a fairly high rate due to issues with high voltage battery harnesses/wiring. We got the SSN message a few times in the black FFH. The dealer was directed by Ford to replace the PCM when this happened.

In northern MN yesterday a plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a highway and hit a Ford Fusion. Fortunately the driver of the Fusion was okay. You can see a picture in the article of the damage the propeller did to the car. http://www.kare11.com/story/news/local/2015/03/31/plane-makes-emergency-landing-after-engine-fails-hits-car/70731590/

FORScan is great! You can get access to tons of great information. There are a few threads on the Energi Forum of the great data you can access. It doesn't all apply to the FFH, but most of it does. Here are links to some threads you may enjoy reading if you haven't already that talk about the data you can access and interpreting it. Some of the data may be outdated because our understanding has improved over time, but most of it should be current. I'm posting the most current threads first. http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9689-road-trip-observations-with-torque-pro/ http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/8011-understanding-the-power-flow-screens/ http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/8416-fusion-hybrid-powertrain-technical-analysis-with-torque-pro-a-scangauge/ http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/7492-understanding-the-ffh-better-with-a-scangauge/ If you like understanding the components of the car, check out this thread: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9602-ffh-factoids-parts-quiz/ Please add your observations and interpretations as you learn more about how the car operates. :)

I'd go with the Ford dealer if it's still under factory warranty. If your car were Job 1 with the luxury package I'd guess that it is due to replacing the shift knob like happened to us. But since your signature says Job 2 that wouldn't have applied to the previous owner.

I'm not sure these hp numbers are right. The max charge limit is 35 kW and the max discharge limit is 65 kW. These limits can go lower when conditions are less than ideal (hot/cold HVB, high/low SOC, etc). Also, 1.4 kWh might be the pack capacity but this is not the useable capacity. The portion used by the car is much smaller. Only about 40-45% IIRC

Lincoln Continental Concept

Argh! It's hideous!! :gaah: -
HVB discharging or charging? Does shifting to Neutral make a difference?

That really stinks that they removed the gallons from the 2015. Ford is really screwing up these cars!!
-
Plugging in is easy. The time spent plugging in at home will likely be less than the extra time you would spend buying gas in the hybrid. Go Times are the other real benefit of the Energi. You can get into a warm car in the cold winter mornings. That adds a lot of value for us.
-
That really stinks!! Can other 2015 owners confirm? I want to make sure this isn't just on the Hybrid S like you have.
-
Considering that the increase in maximum EV speed in the FFH to 85 MPH did not increase the EPA ratings it would be possible for Ford to change it back through a TSB or Customer Satisfaction Program to deal with the failures if they determine that to be the cause. I wouldn't be surprised if the next gen design includes the auxiliary pump on both the Hybrid and Energi models.

Transmission leak, electrical failures at 15K

Also, get our Ford Service rep involved. Search for username FordService and send her a PM. Edit: I see Meagan beat me to it. :) -
Test drove the Energi Titanium today
hybridbear replied to machoman1337's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
Could it be from what's discussed in these threads? http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/7999-air-intake/ http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/8292-air-intake-wresonator-installation/ -
What all is shown on your trip meter? Do you have an options to change it?
-
The Ford remote start that's built in to the Titanium Hybrid in all Energi vehicles is 5, 10 or 15 minutes in duration. You can configure it on the left dash screen. With that system you can remote start up to two times for a maximum of 30 consecutive minutes. Once you reach the two start maximum, you cannot remote start again until the vehicle is started and turned off, or a certain time limit passes, I believe one hour.

You can't do what shown in this video?

Removed from where? The Trip Summary? The Advanced Trip Meters?

Ford's new car will force you to obey the speed limit
hybridbear replied to Automate's topic in Lounge - Off Topic Discussion
My feelings exactly. I just showed this feature to my parents the other day when driving with them in their C-Max Energi. They also expressed the desire to have the speed limit shown in a larger font. My dad joked that he'd need to carry a magnifying glass with him to be able to read it. -
Have you had the center console taken apart for anything? When our car had to get the Job 1 leather gear shift knob issue addressed the dealer failed to plug in the wire for the grade assist button so it didn't work. Then when we brought it back they broke the plastic pieces of the center console.

Many new cars, if not the majority now, don't come with a spare tire. You wouldn't need to buy a compressor because the car comes with one already along with the fix-a-flat goo.

Even Semi Trucks going Hybrid
hybridbear replied to Automate's topic in Lounge - Off Topic Discussion
UPS has some hybrid delivery trucks in MN. Many of the UPS/FedEx trucks here run on natural gas. The semi is really neat. I wonder why it isn't street legal as designed. -
Low speed EV noise, regen brakes questionable
hybridbear replied to acdii's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
Nothing from us. I think there's something wrong with your car :( -
I'm a big fan of the Energi. I think everyone else has hit on the main points already. How much price difference are you seeing between the Energi and Hybrid. The $4007 Energi tax credit should make up just about all of the difference in cost. You might be able to find a great deal on a leftover 2013 or 2014 Energi where it is cheaper than a hybrid. That's what we did.
