  1. Welcome! Thanks for all the great pics! :camera:
  2. I figure the time factor is a wash. Either I sit around the dealer or I spend time under the car. Cost is about a wash too with coupons so I'll just let someone else change oil.
  3. So sad that it's over. The Focus Electric continued getting Sirius until sometime around noon on the 20th, then it turned off.
  4. Murphy posts when there are free periods in this thread.
  5. Except they aren't, as proven by the numerous cases of warranty work being denied for this reason. I agree that it should be, but reality says that it isn't.
  6. My experience as well. Temps under the hood get hotter in summer with no blocking than in winter with blocking.
  7. Except for the fact that they aren't, as this story shows. I agree that they should be, but sadly they aren't. I'm thinking that I'll have the oil changed by the dealer or another ASE certified shop until the warranty expires. Then I would be able to produce documentation if there are issues. The cost savings are minimal if you use coupons so I'm not worried about it.
  8. There's often concern about doing oil changes yourself and warranty problems. This week's Car Talk column shows the potential issues that come with changing oil yourself, even with good records. I feel bad for this poor woman & her husband. I hope Ford will fix their car and stop giving them grief over it. This is one major concern I have about changing oil myself in the Energi. I'm still not sure what I want to do about it.
  9. I've never seen the transmission temp higher than what I observed on our road trip. During winter it's hard to get it up over 100 F even with full grille blocking.
  10. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1096816_2016-ford-fusion-hybrid-energi-models-to-get-900-price-cut The addition of an Eco Mode is the bigger news to me.
  11. I was very happy with the service provided by the dealer who sold us the Energi. I was particularly pleased by how knowledgeable the salesman was about the Fusion Hybrid & Energi. In the survey I made a point of commenting how this salesman really stood out for his knowledge of the Ford electrified vehicles. I commented in the survey about how we had previously owned Fusion Hybrids and had never before encountered a salesman who was as knowledgeable about the electrified powertrains. I stated that his knowledge was especially noteworthy since the dealer is in a small town and has four brands under one roof which this salesman must sell. I have since recommended this dealership to a number of coworkers who work at our Wisconsin plants which are near this dealer. Today I received a letter in the mail from Ford thanking me for providing this positive feedback about Scaffidi Motors. The letter says that my positive comments have been forwarded on to the dealer. I'm glad to see that Ford does seem to take a good look at the survey comments. The letter also states that Ford Corporate recognizes that the dealership experience plays "a very important role in customer satisfaction" and that Ford wants its customers to have "solid relationships with dealership personnel." I hope that our salesman was appropriately compensated & recognized for his excellent service.
  12. I think she is saying that the musty smell started at 39k miles, thus it's too late.
  13. Check to see what prices are like online. Discount Tire will match online prices for tires. Hopefully there's a Discount Tire in your area. They do great work around here.
  14. I love Idyllwild. Here's a pic of our first FFH there.
  15. That stinks!! I hope he gave you his insurance info so you can get your car repaired.
  16. Hmmmmmmm.... No idea what that could be...
  17. Friction also increases. Tires lose air pressure. Rubber stiffness changes as well. The transmission fluid also is much thicker at lower temps which greatly increases internal friction. Finally, snow & ice on the roads increases friction.
  18. The way I understand it is that CARB is concerned with emissions & thus anything that could increase emissions is covered. Thus the eCVT should be covered. BEVs don't get coverage from CARB since they don't have emissions. Thus, the Focus Electric battery & transmission is only covered for 5/60k, instead of the 8/100k (10/150k) like in the FFH/FFE.
  19. Here's a great post by Larry from the Energi Forum talking about why it takes more energy to propel the car in winter: The FFH doesn't have the electric heater, but the heater does consume energy from the coolant which causes the ICE to run more. The principles in the post above all apply to the FFH.
  20. Remote start fuel use is not counted by the trip meter.
  21. I've never seen a car that allows fog lights & high beams to be on at the same time.
  22. 72 months! Ouch!! I'm sure you'd be upside down by a few thousand dollars, particularly if you didn't put much money down. 38% EV is probably around average.
  23. In California the warranty is 10 years or 150,000 miles. I don't think you need to worry. You could take advantage of the Ford reps on this Forum to look into getting some assistance from Ford for the musty AC smell issue.
