keybman Report post Posted May 5, 2014 This last tank - 52.6 MPG, 615 mi/tank and still had DTE miles left. Started approaching "jeff_h-type" numbers. :) I sure could get used to those kind of numbers all the time. In fact, I was managing 54+ MPG for the first 500+ miles of the tank, but the outside temps started to get into the 90s and my A/C usage was way up. This car loves 65-80 degrees outside with low humidity, which we had recently. Sadly, though, in this area I expect that the heat and high humidity will stay with us now until late September, so I will be happy if I can continue to achieve high 40's MPG-wise for the summer. 5 jeff_h, corncobs, GrySql and 2 others reacted to this

corncobs Report post Posted May 7, 2014 Nice did you actually try or did it just happen? I had to fill up today and with 46.9 (45 MPG actual) it came in just shy of EPA ;)

Well now I have a much bigger HVB which really helps! acdii Report post Posted May 8, 2014 Nice did you actually try or did it just happen? I had to fill up today and with 46.9 (45 MPG actual) it came in just shy of EPA ;)Today, Nope, Drove like an ass. I had some moron try to cut me off from the left lane, which ended, you know, has a sign saying LEFT LANE ENDS. Still don't understand how they get in that lane and think THEY have the ROW. Anyhow, I was keeping pace with the truck in front and I still managed to get 47. The other day traffic was just perfect for it, no one behind riding my tail and the guy in front was doing a P&G of his own.

jeff_h Report post Posted May 8, 2014 That was the Energi, right? A regular FFH can't possible achieve that, can it? Yes, that's with the Energi with the much larger HVB -- on most commutes I stretch the estimated 21 miles to about 25-28 or so and then in hybrid mode around 45-50 or so MPG and it comes out to somewhere in the 80s for most trips. However that trip pictured above was one of those times when everything fell into place with traffic, weather, etc and got 44 EV miles (of the 58 mile commute, a couple miles shorter as no carpooler that day) so getting the 105.7 was the best I've gotten thus far (but got a 105.1 the next afternoon trip). It still makes the commute a bit more bearable when you make it more of a driving game... 1 hybridbear reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted May 8, 2014 New record for me. This is the highest I ever got coming in to work. This last tank is sitting at a nice 45 MPG. :) This year looks promising, seems like the car has broken in nicely. 4 corncobs, Da0ne, hybridbear and 1 other reacted to this

Nick Golden Report post Posted May 9, 2014 Oh, I am loving this warm weather! Drove like a complete maniac (ok, more like most of the other people on the road not trying to maximize fuel econ.) trying to keep up with my wife who was in the Mazda. Still hit 50 mpg on the dash! Bring on summer gas! 1 hybridbear reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted May 9, 2014 Well it rained this morning, so no repeat of yesterday, still managed 43 though.
jsolan Report post Posted May 14, 2014 I meant to post here last week and it slipped my mind. As others have noted, the summer blend of fuel appears to have trickled in. My last tank I was at 49.8 MPG nearly halfway through the tank according to the computer. I then traveled 50 miles round trip through a thunderstorm and another 200 miles through mountains. That dropped the tank average to 45.8 mpg (measured at the pump). My lifetime average has gone up 3 tenths since winter ended as well. 2 acdii and corncobs reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted May 15, 2014 I pulled my covers off and have been getting around 46 MPG now, this last tank on 87 Octane. I normally run 89. The fuel station I was getting it at appears to have closed. :( 46.3 on the way home from work to pick up the kids, then 62 from there to the house. 1 corncobs reacted to this
Da0ne Report post Posted May 15, 2014 i dont want to take the covers off since i have been getting 50 - 53 mpg in my commute to and from work but temp are now staying above 50*
jeffo65 Report post Posted May 15, 2014 Our last 2 tanks have been over 44mpg (44.2 mpg and 47.6 mpg). You have to like the warmer air temps. 2 jeff_h and GrySql reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted May 15, 2014 It was 39* and raining this morning. It does take its toll on fuel economy, just barely got over 40. Pretty sure the cover would have helped it get 43, but I did not feel like putting it back on after getting the car all cleaned up. Thankfully no scratches on the chrome from the cover. Still completely satisfied with the car. 1 GrySql reacted to this
inco Report post Posted May 15, 2014 Another venture into the city and then a quick trip around town got the same results as last time - 50 off hwy and 42 on hwy. Last month my gas bill was $69 compared to the Explorer at roughly $300 a month. Silly question - of course I'm happy. :love_shower: 2 corncobs and hybridbear reacted to this

GrySql Report post Posted May 18, 2014 We're at the 1,700 mile mark of this very long trip and my Trip Mileage is at 38mpg. With all the difficult weather, driving near the speed limits and elevation changes (over 11,000') I am very happy to own this car. It's also a very nice, comfortable ride which means a lot because we have about 3,000 miles to go. All good for me. :shift: 6 acdii, hybridbear, Sleddog and 3 others reacted to this

djminfll Report post Posted May 20, 2014 On my commute, sometimes everything just goes perfectly, I'm driving in the carpool lane and traffic is just enough that I am able to maintain about 55-60mph, I make it to work on time, I have a relaxing and enjoyable drive, and I get the best mpg I've probably ever gotten. It's not always this good, because if traffic is light in the carpool lane, I can't hold up traffic, so I have to drive 70mph. 5 corncobs, GrySql, hybridbear and 2 others reacted to this

Why not? maybe you can teach them how wonderful, gas saving and relaxing driving at speed limit is ;) ( that's assuming 70 is above speed limit) 1 djminfll reacted to this
