  1. Sorry for your misfortune. I don't know about the problems you're having, but #1, I would insist that Ford cover the rental, and #2, they should replace the oil-soaked aerodynamic cover. Hopefully, your service technicians can figure out the rest for you.
  2. I think he means that when he's on the road, the display shows him being off. Can't imagine anyone intentionally taking their FFH off-roading! ;)
  3. The calculated result is affected to the greatest by the denominator - fuel used (or in the case of a manual calculation, pumped). It will vary. Your tank is not like a measuring cup where you set it on a level surface and fill it to a visible line. We really don't know how accurate each pump is, nor do we know exactly how far we end up above or below that invisible full line. A half gallon variance can affect the result +/- 2-3 MPG. I've been meaning to post some thoughts about this same subject based on my own collected data. Maybe tomorrow.
  4. What highway noise? This car is quiet. And a hood is not really a structural component, so better for it to be light, really. I'd say that's not really a quality issue - it's just thinner than you're used to. Congrats on the new car.
  5. Received the paperwork from my initial service visit for this problem. Here's what it says: Cause: IPC NEEDED UPDATE FOR PROPER FUEL LEVEL PER TSB:14-02-19 Correction: PERFORM OUTLINED PINPOINT TEST IN TSB:14-02-19 AND PERFORM IPC REPROGRAM---CLEAR CODES---OKAY I can't find any details about this TSB. My gauge seems to be working accurately as of late. I went all the way to 0 mi to E - yes, either brave or stupid, but I wanted to run it low and fill all the way up, figuring that would expose the system to the entire range from E to F. Just seemed to make sense to me.
  6. Same. Elevation is almost always the differentiating factor between the two halves of a round trip.
  7. It might have happened a time or two... ;)
  8. Yesterday, 2 trips "normal," 1 trip in between was way goofy. This morning, everything seems normal. 78 mi to E. Hopefully, I'll see the Low Fuel light come on soon... Hopefully before I run out!
  9. And i guarantee it's not so much about the profit on an oil change that the dealer is looking for. They want to develop a consistent, long-term relationship (aka a revenue stream). I'm not criticizing anyone for having a dealer do oil changes at any interval they, the customer, chooses. All I'm suggesting is that the customer should be aware of the above. In the end, their goal is to get you to open your wallet as much as possible AND to feel good about it when you do! I totally get that some have more resources than others, and are not as concerned about the specific costs of ownership, or are just inclined to be comfortable with those costs at a higher level. Me? I keep tight control over what comes out of my wallet. Call it frugal or cheap, it is what it is. I'm just generally distrustful of those who seek a piece of my resources, especially when they claim to be giving me a deal...
  10. I've always had it muted, since I prefer just to glance at the screen. Also, I don't like my music interrupted.
  11. Wait until they start finding problems during those MULTI-POINT inspections!!! ;)
  12. A bunch of Nervous Nellies in here! I go with full synthetic when the car tells me it's time (approx 10k). I rotate the tires periodically, too. I'm not too concerned about them, though. Every 8-10k works for me. At 35k, my tires still look pretty good.
  13. After shutting down yesterday with >3/4 displayed, I was surprised this morning when I started and only saw about 1/4, which seems accurate. Drove 30 miles to work, and saw a slight drop. Checked FLPM upon arrival and it shows 26%, which was pretty much where I estimated it should be... One of those times where I wish my car would just stay normal or stay broken... either would be fine with me right now!!!
  14. Why does anyone want an aftermarket anything? He probably just wants to customize the look, or lower the weight or something like that.
  15. Well, that's what I was hoping, but it looks like Tex wins this round... Going into work this morning, everything still seemed back to normal. Fuel level displayed under 1/2 and slowly dropping. A short midday trip between work locations and it was still OK. Then, when I went to leave work, the goofiness returned... I first noticed the gauge was above half. I shut the car off and restarted and entered ET mode. As I drove home, I watched the FLPM increase from 64% to 79%, with the gauge showing a corresponding level just over 3/4 full. At this point I'm thinking it should be around 30% or so... Meagan, please advise!
  16. Yes, mine has always said Mapquest. Kind of funny that the developer used that as a workaround.
  17. I have done it with the Android version a few times, however, if I have the address, or at least an intersection, in my head, I usually just speak to MFT, and that usually accomplishes the task. It's much easier to speak to MFT, than it is to Sync Services. All that's really required when using Send to Car with Sync is to say, "Yes," to acknowledge that you want the address downloaded to your car, but it's very difficult to get that system to recognize my voice, which has been discussed here before. I usually sit there repeating, "Yes!" several times until I end up shouting it. Sometimes it works eventually, sometimes not.
  18. Not sure if it's logical to think this or not, but perhaps the algorithm needs some time to "normalize." If that's not the explanation, then you're probably right... You're already right about something else - goofy behavior! A hidden camera on me when I first started noticing this problem would probably have produced some amusing footage. :)
  19. After the reprogramming yesterday, I completed 5 trips ranging from about 6 to 40 miles. Each time I had the same result - my fuel level seemed to increase as I drove, hovering from about 3/4 to nearly full. Today, however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that things *seem* to have normalized somewhat. I started the car this morning with the gauge almost exactly at 1/2, and was anticipating it increasing from there... Much to my delight, there was no such occurrence, and everything seemed as normal. I did check the percentages in ET mode, and I ended up going from around 49% to about 44% today. Miles to E, plus distance traveled on my current tank came out to 577, which also seems about right. Another few days like this, and I'll consider this problem to have been resolved.
  20. Visited dealer service center this morning and spent a little over 1.5 hours there while they reprogrammed something. It was covered under warranty, and they offered to mail the paperwork, so unfortunately, I don't know exactly what they did. Problem is, nothing seems to have changed. Upon arriving to work, the gauge displays significantly more fuel than when I left the dealer... Was 475 MTE (3/4) and now shows 553 MTE (>7/8). Trip 1 shows I've already traveled 200 miles on the current tank, so neither number seems accurate.
  21. Or engage the standard Grade Assist?
  22. Second pm sent this morning. You didn't answer my question and my service appointment is early Monday morning. Thanks!
