  1. The paperwork I signed said that mine had something like 9 or 19 miles on it. The battery was dead when I chose it, so I never saw the actual odometer. Driving home in it, I notice the odometer is 70 something. I thought for a second to go back and say WT... Fudge. Three days later, it had 500+, so really, it didn't matter. A mere drop in the bucket. If all goes well, I'm putting 200K+ on this baby anyhow.
  2. Well, Hell's Bells, Brian!! Congrats on the new ride! You'll really appreciate it when the gas prices start going back up, and we all know they will! ;)
  3. Same here. Think we should pay them for those 3 extra days??? ;)
  4. Proven? By scare stories? The dealers love this kind of thinking. Come in for regular oil changes, let us find some other questionable service to perform. Maybe replace your lifetime air filter, or your barely worn brake pads, since you might not know any better, or are too uninformed or scared to question what they suggest. I'm not talking about you, personally, but the many who fall for these tactics. Remember, they're not there to serve you, they're there to make money. And, it doesn't matter whether it's your dealer or your old trustworthy mechanic. Folks gotta make a living! Yeah, I'm probably a little pessimistic, and sarcastic, too, but that's just me!
  5. They are. This is exactly what the dealers want you to think. This particular dealer's behavior seems very questionable.
  6. This should NEVER be a concern for anyone who wants to perform their own maintenance. Receipts and a log are sufficient.
  7. Well, his location is U.S. Northeast.... I'm guessing it's 99% unrelated to the tires. My January average was 44 - exactly 5 months earlier it was 55! But, I'm not complaining... ;)
  8. We are on the same wavelength, because that is EXACTLY what it made me think of, too! I once thought I might be interested in a new Beetle, and went to a dealership. I sat in one in the showroom, and a salesman jumped into the passenger seat. I asked him what this weird thing was mounted to the dash or steering column (I can't remember), and he told me it was a little vase for a flower... What? I don't think I ever got over that idea. It wasn't removable, either.
  9. Your dash mpg will almost always be a little optimistic, compared with your manual calculations, but it will give you a better idea of your actual driving efficiency during times when you're using remote start, since your dash numbers aren't affected by the remote start events. Long sentence, I know. I hope it makes sense to you, though. As far as cold goes, I just had my worst tank ever in the 64 I've recorded. Single digits are a killer. Your quarter mile trip to lunch and eating while idling is definitely costing you quite a bit of efficiency, too. Remember, mpg is 0 when burning gas while not moving. You can't change that math.
  10. To me, the leaves are just like "live wallpaper." Without a Sirius subscription, or a destination programmed into the nav (compass is dumb), those other screens are useless to me. Of course, leaves are useless, too, but not irritating to me, so that's what I usually choose...
  11. This seems somewhat meaningless, considering it's an analysis of the incorrect oil.
  12. You should have at least experimented with the Grade Assist button. It does work.
  13. That's very likely false. What it can hold (according to your one-time run-it-out-of-gas experiment) and what his held at any given time are likely different, maybe very different. Published capacity is 13.5, but either way, I suspect fill-ups may vary wildly, from pump to pump, angle of the car, and the tendency of the person to overfill or top-off their tank.
  14. Right, so you're advocating paying the most to cover the most. Ok.
  15. When it's damp out, mine is blurred, but once everything dries out, it produces a clear image again. I've never felt the need to wipe the lens. Of course, I go over it when I wash the car, but unfortunately, that doesn't happen often enough.
  16. Search for "spare" on here and you'll find several options that others have come up with - everything from new to salvage options, eBay to parts direct from Ford.
  17. Yes, as evidenced by the widening gap between my dash # and my Fuelly # this time of year. I actually like that the dash does not include remote start events, because it gives me a better feel for actual changes in efficiency for driving time only.
  18. Winter has been tough, but I'm pleased that my lifetime dash number has only dropped to 51.5, from a pre-winter high of 51.8 (it actually hit 51.9 once, for about a quarter mile). Thankfully, this doesn't seem to be affected by remote start events! On the other hand, that feels a little like cheating.
  19. Bluetooth Audio Stream Detected. I only need to know that upon initiating the connection. Hey Sync, can you detect my track info with this source, and display it on the right-side dash screen, like you do for FM, Sirius, and USB? Of course you can! But you don't.... :(
  20. I could have saved some, but I didn't. I'm not as alarmed now as I was initially. Since I'd never opened the cap, I don't know when it began accumulating. Her normal commute is about 6-7 miles each way, and with the cold weather, the ICE probably never reaches normal operating temperatures - at least not for long. I will keep an eye on it, but this explanation seems reasonable, and by most accounts, it's not a harmful condition. She does often make some longer trips, but hasn't done so recently. Maybe we should have bought her an Energi...
  21. I would add ¾ quart, or whatever it takes to get it to the max line. The way I've always looked at it is, the range is there to let me know whether or not the level has fallen too low. If it drops faster than expected, that's a clue to check it more often. Technically, you're not low on oil unless it's below the lower mark, but I prefer to keep it at max as much as possible.
  22. It looked yellower in the photo than in reality. I don't think there's an issue with coolant leaking into the engine. The drained oil appeared completely normal.
