  1. It's like when you go into (name any national chain store) and the sales person tells you about the products by reading the product label or a sign on the shelf. Or the appliance repairman who can swap the parts out that's he's been sent to do, but can't diagnose anything.
  2. Starting to think the tech in these cars has exceeded the overall "know how" at many dealers. Of course, I never trusted service shops, particularly dealer service shops, in pre-hybrid days anyhow... Too many stories here do nothing, but confirm my general skepticism.
  3. So far, it's just an acdii problem, hopefully for the rest of us.
  4. Well, glad you got it fixed. Can we assume the "local shop" is not a Ford dealer?
  5. My satisfaction quotient is best explained by my purchase of a second FFH to replace my wife's Camry (significantly earlier than originally planned) after driving mine for a year. We are absolutely thrilled with these cars. She doesn't quite get the MPGs I get with mine, but she's still very, very close to achieving the revised EPA number, so nothing to complain about. Miles better than any cars we've previously owned, pun intended. :)
  6. That's a good point, but I was reading this thread to be about what's theoretically possible. This is something I've often wondered... A perfectly straight road that stretches on forever. No wind, no other traffic, etc... At what constant speed can this car travel and cover the greatest distance? Theoretically speaking. My guess it's somewhere in the 45 mph range.
  7. Or, just... Seems to be a bit more efficient that way. Oh, and stay in the right lane. ;)
  8. Interesting that the interface still has the four quadrants in the Microsoft colors. I thought it would be a more dramatic change.
  9. Is that to say that efficiency trends downward as speed increases from 0? Is there truly no bell curve...?
  10. Has a dealer looked at your car? Sounds like something might need to be reprogrammed.
  11. I think we'd all be comfortable with you rounding that calculation up! ;) Great job.
  12. Wow, that's fantastic! :) Yes, this seems like a good thread to put this in, but I had to laugh when I realized that the previous post was a couple months before I even bought my 2013. :)
  13. I once had a Mitsubishi Galant with the same problem. Evidently, the sensor for the hood was set right at the threshold and it would be set off by changes in ambient temperature, mostly around 3am... Hopefully, your neighbors are as understanding as mine were!
  14. Fantastic MPGs!! The clueless shall remain that way. Best you can do sometimes is stay out of their way. Those are the folks that cause accidents, but will then try and blame you! It's a crazy world out there, but then again, all you have to do is glance at your dash and smile. :)
  15. Bingo! Why wait 5 years to claim it...?
  16. Totally agree. I was playing the click game for a while, but eventually convinced myself it was pointless. It may even be counterproductive...
  17. Congrats on the "new" car! #1 tip is to drive gently - easy on the accelerator and the brakes. If you don't already, consider the right lane on the highway. If you're always worried about getting places on time, leave earlier and drive more relaxed. It's a comfortable ride - enjoy it!
  18. Learning the car and how it responds under different conditions is the key. This just takes time.
  19. I just don't think this blanket statement is true. Depending on the circumstances (speed limits, traffic flow), I've posted some very good MPG's with both high (>50%) and low (30%) EV use.
  20. Interesting. Yes, I seem to recall reading about that before. Sorry to add confusion. I do remember them also taking away the lifetime display that appears after I shut down my cars.
  21. So much complexity, so many parts to manage. It's amazing they're able to achieve the quality levels that they do. Of course, we all expect perfection...
  22. Sorry, had to post this one, because it was ridiculous...
  23. The manual actually refers to this Avg MPG display as "lifetime average fuel economy," and it is also available on the Inform and Enlighten screens, as well. Not that you can't reset it daily, but I don't think Ford intended for it to be used that way. Generally, I think that's what the trip meters are for. I chose to reset mine only once, in the first day or two of ownership, so it really does reflect my lifetime (driving) fuel economy (fuel used during remote start operation is excluded).
  24. Maybe he's climbing out the window like those NASCAR Fusions?!?!
  25. Welcome Dano58. That's a sweet interior/exterior combo! Enjoy!
