  1. A new Model S or Model X is out of our price range, but maybe we could afford a used one... I'm hoping that Model X production will lead to Model S owners trading in their cars on a new Model X and that this will lower prices for a used Model S. Right now even a used Model S is too expensive!
  2. He'll send the data off to Dearborn & we'll wait to hear what they say.
  3. I took a drive with the Ford Engineer today. He is a Ford employee based out of Minneapolis that works with the engineers in Dearborn. He said there are 3 others like him assigned to the Twin Cities area. He had me drive & he recorded three instances of the surge on his laptop. I asked him about the updating of modules & he said that the car is designed for a "coordinated flash" of the modules, so even if a recall, like 15E03, only mentions updating the PCM, he says that IDS will automatically update 8 modules so that the calibration stays in sync. He was unsure which 8 modules they are exactly that are part of that coordinated flash programming.
  4. You have Sync without MyFord Touch, right? Are you leaving the radio on when shutting off the car?
  5. We bought these for our car back in 2012. They work okay, but we've found that on the driver's side a lot of snow & salt still ends up on the carpet because of how small the mat is.
  6. I want to get brake scores that are better than 100%!! ;) :happy feet: :shift:
  7. You can read the experiences of others in this thread. It appears that the repair is not something that can be completed while you wait. You can try contacting a variety of dealers to ask for a loaner vehicle while your car is serviced. It should be covered under the 8/100 warranty.
  8. Yes. Friction brakes are also used when braking while turning, even though the brake score still says 100%.
  9. Thanks for the tip! I have family in Port Alberni & Duncan so I hope to get back out to Vancouver Island soon. Maybe next summer...
  10. On September 30th I'll be meeting with a Ford engineer at our local dealership to take a drive with him in the car to observe what is happening.
  11. Marchionne has said since the 500e was introduced that he doesn't want to sell them. You have to copy & paste the Autoguide URL into your browser. I tried to see if I could get it to work as a link & received an error message from the Forum, stating that the Forum Administrator doesn't allow links to this website.
  12. No, the hood only had swirl marks which are much less visible after Zaino. The rust spots were concentrated on the left side doors & hatch area. Is the hood aluminum on the Focus too? I knew the Fusion hood is aluminum.
  13. As I continued working my way around the car I found quite a few more spots like the picture above. None that were as concentrated as this area except in the crevice where the sheet metal of the hatch meets the rear window glass.
  14. Welcome! Black would probably hide even better than the gray does. I don't know if anyone has tried the same insulation that you bought.

    Rust spots

Today I'm doing clay bar & Zaino on the Focus Electric. Near the driver's door handle & on the rear left door there are a lot of rust spots. There are a few on other parts of the car, too, but nothing like near the door handle. I've scrubbed & scrubber with the clay bar until my hand goes numb & I can't get them off. Any ideas on how to get them off? What would cause this? Is it from rail dust? The Focus Electric is a 2013 model which was built in November or December of 2012, I can't recall the date right now & I don't think ETIS will work on my phone to look it up. It was first leased in August 2013. The family that had it before us didn't garage it & they lived on Long Island. When we first got it I had to spend a lot of time scrubbing tree sap off the paint & getting twigs & leaves out of every nook & cranny. I should've done clay bar & Zaino last summer, but I never got around to it... I hope small rust marks like this won't cost us when the lease ends...
  16. I don't have video of it, but I thought for sure we were going to be rear-ended again in the Focus Electric on Friday. We were on a busy four-lane road in the city, driving in the left lane. There are many places that cars can turn left from this road, most of which do not have a dedicated left turn lane. About a half block ahead there was a car stopped to turn left. Traffic was heavy in the right lane, and we were turning left about a block beyond the car that was stopped anyway, so it didn't make sense to fight to change lanes in rush hour traffic. I started gradually slowing down because I could see that with the constant oncoming traffic we would have to stop behind the left turner. There was quite a gap between us and the Chevy Avalanche that was behind us. As we were almost stopped I looked in the rear view mirror & my heart started racing. The Avalanche was bearing down on us at close to 40 MPH, and he wasn't braking! I said to my wife, "Watch out! I think this guys going to hit us!" Fortunately, before I could finish my sentence he realized what was happening & slammed on his brakes. He came to a screeching stop behind us. Once the left turner was out of the way and we stopped to make our turn in a left turn lane, he pulled up beside us at the red light. What was he doing? Smoking a cigarette in his left hand & texting with his right hand... There was a cop sitting opposite us at the red light. It's too bad the cop didn't see him texting to give him a ticket...
  17. GrySql - glad it wasn't worse! This is why we always use credit cards. The risk with using a debit card & having money come right out of your checking account is too high. We've had two credit cards be used fraudulently in the last few years for online purchases. The credit card companies have really made the process smooth & easy for the victim. It'll be interesting to see how the liability shift in October with the new chip cards impacts things. Merchants will start having to bear the costs of in-person fraud. I also have notifications set up on all our cards. Capital One sends a push notification to my iPhone for every purchase, even in-store purchases. It serves mostly the same purpose...catching my wife more than any bad guys lol ;) :spend: I try to check at least once per week. We have 3 credit cards that we use all the time based on the varying rewards they give, plus our Target REDcard. We record all of our purchases on an Excel spreadsheet for the purpose of making sure we don't overspend since we only use our credit cards. This makes it super easy for me to reconcile what shows up online from each credit card.
  18. Photobucket works well for picture posting.
  19. The ICE was on for 2.2 km, working to charge the HVB to provide energy for the 6.6 km that were with the ICE off. Your 0.4 L of fuel consumption must be spread out over the entire 8.8 km trip because gasoline is the only source of power for your car.
  20. Don't do it! It ruined our Energi! See this thread. Any PCM reprogramming will reset the Lifetime Regen Miles & Brake Score. No parts are available for 15S21 (door latch recall). We had the other 3 outstanding recalls completed when bringing the car in for the dead 12V battery. I told the dealership I would prefer if they didn't do the recalls, but they said that since the car was there they are obligated to do the recalls.
  21. Why do you want to open the windows after remote starting? Wouldn't opening the windows defeat the purpose of remote starting to get the HVAC running?
  22. I like using the right hand dash screen to adjust climate settings. The Focus Electric doesn't have that feature & I miss it. However, the Focus Electric has a physical knob for climate temp so it's also easier to access. Note that the right hand dash screen climate options are not available on all Fusions. In the 2013, it only comes on the HyTi or Energi Ti. Other model years might be different.
