  1. I have told you many times that this IS NOT the issue being discussed in this thread. Please stop inserting misinformation into the discussion. No, murphy has been spouting misinformation in this thread. All cars do what murphy describes. He is stating misinformation & causing confusion. This is also NOT the issue being discussed in this thread. The issue being discussed here happens at low speeds where the car is nowhere near the limit of grip. Experiencing weird behavior when tires are starting to slip would not be unexpected. The 2nd issue is what we are talking about here. This is another case of the issue being cause by a software update.
  2. Interesting point from article.
  3. I really want to get out to Newfoundland some year. Seems like it would be a beautiful place to live!
  4. I feel it is a safety issue. The car surges forward. With winter coming & traction decreasing, this could cause a major issue.
  5. Remember that the HVB/eCVT is warrantied 8/100 from the factory. The ICE is covered by the 5/60 powertrain warranty. An extended warranty would only cover items not included in those warranties or for time beyond those warranties. If I were to buy an ESP it would be the PremiumCare $0 deductible. Anderson & Koch Ford also sells the ESP plans online at a competitive price.
  6. I think the gas Fusion Titanium has the same dash setup at the FFH/FFE with the two LED screens. I believe the cheaper gas Fusions have only one LED screen, located in the center.
  7. I think it uses the official EPA number of 33.7 kWh = 1 gal of gasoline.
  8. The problem is that this was not an issue since day 1 of production. This is an issue that Ford created through one of their other updates. That is the problem. This is the nail in the coffin for me. I will never buy another Ford & now I tell everyone to avoid Fords.
  9. What good would that do? They largely have the same dash & lighting. How would getting a non-hybrid Fusion make things better?
  10. Updates to certain modules change the settings for a number of items you can control via the dash menu screens. MPGe is always turned back to MPG by default. I always switch it back to MPGe right away. Good eye to catch the lack of miles. I'm very curious to see what they have to say about that. Have you contacted Ford about receiving reimbursement for all the days in the shop? Have you contacted the BBB Autoline or a Lemon Law attorney about getting your vehicle repurchased by Ford?
  11. It's right that it's hard in the beginning but gets easier as you go down the page.
  12. I usually use Trip 1 for each tank of gas & Trip 2 for each month (reset on the 1st of every month). The MPG displayed on Empower, Engage & the MPG graph over time is all 1 MPG display in the 2013. Resetting it on any one of those screens will reset it on the others since they're all displaying the same number. The graph interval can be changed as well, try pressing the right directional pad when on that screen to view those options.
  13. Empower shows total power demand, ICE & EV combined. Engage shows the ICE & EV power demand separately. Empower also adds the EV threshold box. The hybrid version of the car is not designed to drive in EV mode for extended periods of time. The Energi is. Even if your HVB icon is full, the ICE will still come on. The ICE is most efficient under a heavier load, such as acceleration, so use it then. The changing height reflects a changing threshold depending on how charged the HVB is. Less charge, less EV power available.
  14. MPH or MPG? You can see average MPG in the forum signatures of many members. Many of us have a Fuelly badge in our signature to show MPG. These signatures are not visible if you access the Forum via a mobile browser.
  15. This is how I have MyView set too.
  16. Any more info about this? This is the most interesting part of all this to me...
  17. Congrats on your purchase & welcome! The SOC display is just an estimate. Changes in HVB temperature when the car is turned off can impact that estimate. Over the course of a drive the car tracks the energy going in & out of the HVB and this data is used to estimate the SOC. When the car is off & the HVB rests, the car can reassess the voltage & make a more accurate measurement of SOC. This is fairly normal. The 12V battery is very small. You can request that the dealer load test the 12V battery. If it needs replacing it may not be covered by your extended warranty. Ours was replaced during the 3/36 b2b period, outside of that period it may not be covered under warranty.
  18. What Eco mode? Did Ford add an Eco mode button to the Fusion? Edit: it just occurred to me that you may be referring to EcoCruise, is that what you mean?

  21. I would again ask that everyone who experiences this behavior file an NHTSA complaint. Reading through the complaints you can see that they work. There are complaints about steering gear motor bolts, door latches, airbag lights, and more, all of which became recalls. Please file a complaint & help make this issue more visible so that Ford is forced to admit that it exists & to fix it.
  22. I spoke to a supervisor today. Every time he called was not a time when I could talk & then I got sick with a bad cough which hindered me from being able to call him back & not be coughing non-stop. He was very pleasant, although he couldn't do anything. I explained everything to him & he was able to read all the comments on the Ford Hotline about our car & the notes from Jeff (the field engineer). He seemed to understand my concerns based on Jeff's notes. But he also said that they (the customer service people) have no authority to question an engineer's determination or request that he take a look at something again. Basically, the engineers are considered infallible within Ford & no one is allowed to question their decisions. Not the dealership, not the customer, not Ford Customer Care.
  23. Miami has some of the rudest drivers I've ever seen. When my wife & I visited friends there in 2014, we couldn't believe how many car accidents they have on sunny days with dry roads.
  24. Winnipeg (where my wife is from) also has no freeways. During rush hour it can take over an hour to go 16 km (~10 miles). My wife's commute was 16 km before she moved to the US & it would take her over an hour each way. When I'd travel to Winnipeg to visit, I would always try to avoid arriving during rush hour. She lived in the northwest part of the city & it would take me over 90 minutes to get from where the traffic started in the southern part of the city to where she lived, a distance of about 25 km (15.5 miles).
  25. Fastronaut! That's who had this issue a few years ago. I knew someone else would remember... Excellent advice & memory, GrySql!
