Recall 14S21 - RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT
tr7driver replied to IraF's topic in Recalls, SSMs & TSBs
I got one letter that listed both my FFH and my C-max. Glad to see Ford save trees and postage. -
Blinker BLIS
tr7driver replied to Riggo's topic in Electrical, Gauges, Instruments, Lighting, Rear View Mirror
I was watching a car in the lane next to me on my way home last night. I realized the BLIS light was on as the car was seeing my car, lol. -
Search Cars.com and Autotrader for unsold 2013 or 2014 cars. With the current discounts, 0% financing low gas prices, there are some great deals out there, but you have to ask/push for them. I imagine you can get one new for close to the price of the used one you are looking at, with a full warranty period, if you spend some time shopping around. You might have to travel. Also, you might consider a c-max or a fusion energi if you can spare the trunk room, there are even deeper discounts on the left over energi models that, with the tax breaks, can work out costing less than a standard hybrid. I started by sending out emails to about 6 dealers listing them and asking for $10,000 under invoice on a 2013 and ended up with several dealers calling me back with even better offers after they initially said no and I told them I had received offers and was now evaluating the cars for color/equipment. I ended up with a fully loaded new 2013 C-max energi with 120 miles on it, never titled, for almost 12,000 under invoice (Plus a 4K+ tax credit). I remember at least 2 dealers in Wisconsin that had 2013's in stock. One dealer called my bluff and told me to shove it after about 6 emails and 2 phone calls; they still have the 2013 fusion energi listed for sale. I guess they are pretty proud of it, but they helped me thicken my skin.

I wish my wife would remember the button above the license plate. She is always asking me to open the trunk for her. I think the button on the dash is in the same place as it was on my 2010 hybrid.

I "REALLY" hate cold weather, What to expect in MPG.
tr7driver replied to acdii's topic in Fuel Mileage
Let me know how the C-max worked out. I'm trying to figure out how to block the top grill. I'm thinking of trying tape on the inside but I'm afraid the adhesive will fail and leave a mess. I'm looking for black foam in hopes it will be less obvious than the gray. -
Daytime Running lights?
tr7driver replied to Ric's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
I had my 2014 Fusion's DLR's turned on by my dealer in June. I recently purchased a 2013 C-max Energi (from a dealer 200 miles away who didn't turn the DRL's on for that car) and have been investigating having the DRL's turned on in the C-max Energi forum. Several people in that forum have stated that Ford has taken away the ability for dealers to change the DRL settings on the C-max by removing the option from the menu on the dealer computers. I have no evidence to confirm or verify that information, but I think that this is the issue Milleron is trying to verify with the Fusion. -

I didn't block the bottom grill last year. I guess I'll give it a try. I need to get some foam for the C-max as well. -
I wanted to trade my 2005 Mustang GT convertible, and my wife won't let me. That was a total shock to me, but I'm happy to keep it. I think most sports cars bring higher trade values in the early spring.

My 2010 Merc Milan hybrid had a larger tank, the same size as the ICE version, 18 gallons if I recall correctly. I think it could easily do 800 miles on a tank. I could drive from Chicago to Columbus Ohio and back and not buy gas, or usually fill up at the cheapest station along the way. It was nice to be able to game the gas pricing boys at big oil and it made road trips more fun, using Gas Buddy to find and fill at only the cheapest stations.

I'm on a variable rate power schedule, so I charge from midnight to 6 am at less than $0.03/kWh. I don't see any payback on adding solar to my home. If I charge during the day in the summer, I may be paying $0.15/KWh, but I charge for free during the day at work. I have 830 miles on my C-Max energi, and I have never put gas in it. It still has half of the tank from the dealer fill-up, and I burned most of that in my 170 mile drive home from the dealer.

New multiyear, multibillion-dollar overhaul of Lincoln coming
tr7driver replied to GrySql's topic in Competing Products
They need to teach dealers how to handle luxury customers. Most Lincoln dealers are paired with Ford, and very few ford stores have a Lux feel. You don't see Lexus stores paired with Toyota under the same roof. Without Mercury, Lincoln is not moving enough product to stand alone much yet offer the first rate customer experience. The Ford dealers picking up the orphaned stores don't know how to or won't spend the money to offer a true lux experience to the high end customer. They think a couple of leather couches, stale coffee and doughnuts, and a flat screen TV are enough to hide the mediocre service they have been providing the ford customers. It will be a tough challenge without firing up the dealer base and replacing the marginal operators. You can see Ford dealers that understand this and have upgraded their dealer experience for Ford and Lincoln buyers doing very well. -
Do the Conti's have the wide rubber ring that protects the wheel from curb rash like the OEM LR?

My experience in Italy was that everyone drives crazy, trying to race to the next light before all the scooters fill in the gaps between the lanes, sidewalks, or wherever they can go. Then the light turns green and its off to the races again.

Titanium Thigh Seat Bolster - Uncomfortable?
tr7driver replied to scn101's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
I agree, its is an individual preference. I find the titanium seat more comfortable if I adjust it so I sit more upright. We have taken it on a few long road trips across the country and it is nice to be able to make all the adjustments to the seat position. I wish my passenger seat had the height adjustment. I'm a freak in that I'm relatively tall, but I have a short inseam and long torso, so headroom is important to me. In my 2010 I had to recline the driver's seat slightly to avoid hitting my head on the moonroof edge, making road trips less comfortable. -
Thank you for getting this taken care of.

I just don't like listening to music in surround sound. Especially MP3 files with their limited fidelity. Video and games really require the surround sound, but I guess I'm not comfortable sitting in the middle of the band. Just saying, to each his own, but this isn't a problem for me.

Navigation Map Update Letter From Ford
tr7driver replied to murphy's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Is it possible to copy the map on to another chip? I have 2 cars with the A4 version. I guess I could just put the new one in the car I'm traveling in like my EZ Pass, but it seem it would be a pain after a while. I'm sure not buying 2 of them, but for 2 car updates $150 wouldn't hurt as much. -

Pin Stripes! I like that. I haven't sees a fusion with them. Do you have any photos that show the pinstripes on the undamaged side? I'm thinking about putting gold stripes on my white fusion. Most insurance companies are very good with hidden damage these days. The bigger risk is the repair shop cutting corners, so make sure you take it to one that has a good reputation.

Welcome Ger! We have a Fusion Ti Hy and a C-max energi. I really like them both, but they do have very different characters which some times leaves me scratching my head wondering what Ford is thinking. Both cars ride and handle very well, are extremely quiet, and very comfortable for longer trips. I prefer the higher seating position of the C-max for around town. It is not equipped with memory seats/mirrors, but it has HomeLink, not available on the Fusion unless you get the sunroof pkg. No drivers side key pad available on the C-max with intelligent key. Both cars have decent rear seats for adults, but the fusion seat rear position is a little more reclined and comfortable for longer trips. The C-max has a little more rear leg room, and the panoramic sunroof that is available makes the rear seat ride more interesting and the car feel larger than it really is. The major drawback to the energi is there is no good place to permanently store a spare tire. The same spare/jack will work with both cars. The lug nuts are the same size, but one car (can't remember which) has deeper threads on the nuts. I wish the C-max had a little more storage bins around the driver. I use the L1 charger at home and can charge when I go to the gym. There are some very good deals on both the Fusion and the C-max energi versions right now, especially if you can find a '13 left over equipped to your liking, the energi can cost less than the hybrid version, especially after the tax credits are factored in. My energi is currently showing 103.6 mpg, my Ti Hy 39.5 MPG. My wife mainly drives the Ti Hy and she isn't in to maximizing the mpg, she just sets the climate to auto, turns up the radio and rock & rolls the car like the Avalon it replaced. Ford has a phone app for the energi models of both cars that lets you track the car's location, state of charge, and adjust your charging strategy. You can also unlock/lock the car and remote start it with the app, and set the charger to have the car charged and the cabin temp set to warm/cool to a specific temp. It also keeps a charge and mile log, handy when the kids use the car. You can tell how hard they are abusing it, lol. All in all, pretty neat stuff. Don't be afraid to ask questions here, this is a great group of very knowledgeable and helpful people

When I set my cruse control for 70 mph 70 appears on the display but my speedometer looks more like 68 or 69.

I miss the elevation that was available on my 2010 under the info tab. I downloaded GPS Altimeter to my phone. Its ok, but driving through the Rockies it was nice to have it available on the nav screen.
