@mwr Yes, traded in the 2014 Fusion Hybrid for a 2019 MKZ Hybrid. Why? Two reasons, one, my company's policy encourages us to have autos that are no more than five model years old (they do provide a monthly car allowance). And two, due to the overstock of leftover 2019s in January of 2020 on dealer lots resulted in deals with over $10K off MSRP, putting them closer to the Fusion. I like the MKZ's added features and its overall body style including the grill. Power trunk, massage seats with better leather, hard buttons for cooled/heated seats and heated steering wheel, etc., are all nice. I do like the push button transmission vs the dial. At msrp vs msrp, the Fusion is a better deal as the MKZ additions aren't mandatory, just nice.

I traded in my 2014 FFH for a 2019 MKZ HEV and found that I too no longer have the SOC battery display. I've researched this a lot and found that early 2019 builds had the SOC display, later 2019 builds do not. I compared the "as built" data for two VINs, and early and a later 2019 build, with and without the SOC display. Comparing each module the only differences in as built data between the two was in modules that contain the VIN (as expected). So I'm concluding that this is not simply something that can be enabled using ForScan. So, as @chekie pointed out, there's a newer software load (-JE) in a module that took away the SOC display. My guess is that this may be the IPC module. @chekie Do you know what module the software PartNo belonged to? Was it the IPC or another module? My dealer contacted Lincoln but has had no luck. Personally I'm quite bummed at the elimination of a useful feature especially since both my owner's manual and quick reference guide clearly show the SOC display. I'm wondering if this is something where a lawsuit would help? File in small claims court as an irritant to Ford to provide the SOC display once again. I.E. false or misleading information since the feature is said to be in the owner's manual. If there are any law types on this board, let us know your thoughts!

It is like insurance, got to have it but hope you never need it. I sold my Fusion and bought an MKZ. First week of ownership and I now have a front and rear facing dashcam. As for park mode, that will drain your battery, so I don't use it. I wrote up my install on the MKZ (pretty much the same for the Fusion) if you want to see it: https://lincolnmkzforum.com/topic/4227-hard-wiring-a-dash-cam-and-radar-detector/

I'm not sure if this will help but I lessened (perhaps eliminated) a rattle from the right rear passenger door area by removing the back seat lower cushion and locating the wiring bundles under the seat. They were loose (to the point that I could see them rattling at speed) so I slid some damper foam under them so they can't rattle. There were about 3 or 4 things that looked like they could rattle and I damper foamed them all and put the seat cushion back on. So far it seems to have helped. And while you're there, make sure you treat the leather that rubs on anything (making it somewhat slick stops squeaks). Same thing for all the door weatherstripping, use dielectric grease (best) or Armor All (ok). To remove the cushion locate two levers in the front of the cushion at floor level. Slide the lever while gently pulling up on the cushion. Once both sides are released tilt the cushion up as far as possible and it will pop off. Remove from vehicle. Replace same way, it will automatically latch in when pushed down.

I have the same rattle, happens at higher speeds only (like 70MPH) and seems to come from the right rear door area. Did you ever get this diagnosed and fixed?

Meagan has now responded. She was caught up in jury duty, I think most of us can relate to that!

Interesting. I sent my PM on June 25th. I wonder why it hasn't been read?

I sent a PM to user FordService which I believe is a Ford representative a week ago and so far it hasn't been read (nor answered of course). Did we lose our Ford rep on this forum or did the userID change? Thanks.

Extended Warranty

Be careful when buying the ESP as they have the option to delete the first day's car rental (loaner). That knocks off about $100 from the plan. On the ESP contract I think it was called 'first day rental delete" or something similar. Just after my first flawless year of ownership (12K miles) all kinds of bad stuff cropped up and I had a loaner for a total of over a month's time. I had no problem getting a loaner from my dealer and I think it was due to the ESP. For grins here's the bad stuff: Replaced the AC evaporator as it stank Replaced a failed heated steering wheel control module Replaced the APIM (Sync Module) as it failed Replaced the transmission due to abnormal noise (oh my) Replaced an engine mount Replaced the front seat back's leather due to abnormal wear on the piping -
I think the car will always slow down as the hydraulic brakes will kick in as you depress the brake pedal so I don't think you have a safety worry. I hope your dealer will identify and repair the issue soon!

You might need to count me in the unfortunate group. 2014 HyTi FFH with 12K miles. Had the evap replaced two months ago, all good. Lately over the past month I've noticed a growling noise when the FFH exits EV mode and the ICE starts. This growl or grinding noise gets louder with engine RPM. Isn't always present, I would say about half the time. The dealer drove the car and compared it to a new FFH on their lot. They stated that the noise wasn't on the new vehicle and didn't seem right. After lots of time driving and diagnosing my vehicle they call me, new transmission needed. Ouch. I'm the second FFH with a faulty transmission at their dealership. So far, evap replaced, heated steering wheel control module replaced, driver's seat back leather replaced due to abnormal wear on piping, SYNC module replaced (APIM module), and now this. My dealer has been great and all repairs were done well. But now I'm a bit concerned about my vehicle's reliability/quality. Now I'm driving a snazzy red 2014 Focus as the dealer contacts Ford about the transmission. They don't want to give me back the car as they said the previous vehicle with the same concern (noise) would shut down and not restart, so I'm happy to have a loaner.

Upgrading Sync to v3.7 from v3.6.2 Phone Book Problem
scn101 replied to scn101's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Still don't have the car back to test Sync as I had asked the dealer to check a "growling" noise when the car transitions from EV to engine that occurs ~40-50% of the time. They heard the noise, compared it to a new Fusion Hybrid on their lot, and said the noise was not normal and would hunt down the cause. Today they told me it was my transmission. 12K miles and I need a new transmission, ouch. The good news is that I trust my dealer, the bad is that I'm losing faith in the vehicle. -
Upgrading Sync to v3.7 from v3.6.2 Phone Book Problem

Thanks for the link to SYNC My Phone. Update: The dealer was able to reproduce the issue on their test phone and replaced the Sync unit (APIM Module). They still have the car as they are trying to figure out another issue so I have yet to test it. Second module to die on the vehicle, first was the heated steering wheel module. -

Upgrading Sync to v3.7 from v3.6.2 Phone Book Problem
scn101 replied to scn101's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I have spent hours debugging this issue and here's why I think Sync v3.7 no longer works with the iPhone's contact list. Case 1: iPhone5s running iOS 8.2. I used iTunes to "Restore" the phone and forced iTunes to reload the phone's firmware (8.2). This turns the phone into a "new" phone, nothing on it, brand new. I entered one contact manually into the phone. I deleted the Sync's Bluetooth pairing and then re-paired...it paired with Sync, said phonebook downloading but ended with "Phonebook empty." Case 2: iPhone4 running iOS 7.1.2. Same procedure, I used iTunes to restore the phone to new. Entered one contact, paired it with Sync successfully (note: Sync has never seen this iPhone4) and again...downloading phonebook ended up with a empty phonebook message. So I've tried to "new" iPhone's running two iOS versions with Sync v3.7 and Contacts will not download. It is possible that the Sync unit on my vehicle is defective but that seems somewhat odd since the issue surfaced after the Sync firmware update. Both iPhone's cannot be defective. Both iPhones, under the Bluetooth setting have "Sync Contacts" checked (green). If anyone is running Sync 3.7 but previously had an older Sync version with an iPhone, you may be using contacts that were downloaded under the previous version of Sync and not know you have an issue. Try adding a new test contact to your iPhone and see if it shows up under Sync running 3.7. My experience says it won't. Of course, my Sync unit might be broken. Let me know. I will go to the dealer and see if my iPhone will download contacts to another vehicle running Sync v3.7 and/or v3.6.2 to eliminate a defective Sync unit in my vehicle. My iPhone5s contacts worked fine with Sync v3.6.2 (if anyone has this zip file please send it to me). -
Upgrading Sync to v3.7 from v3.6.2 Phone Book Problem
scn101 replied to scn101's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I have manually tried to ask Sync to "re-download" phone book. It goes to the phone book screen says downloading and then after a few minutes stops and says phone book empty. The iPhone is set to allow Sync to access the phone book. I'll probably head to the dealer next week. It all worked fine on 3.6.2 so something changed.
