corncobs Report post Posted July 9, 2014 OK so where does the '14 model fall in this discussion ? I'm pretty sure that mine has DRLs and they work......but now you have me wondering ? Maybe I should go look ?? :)Same as '13 and as long you don't have a Canadian version or it's a fleet vehicle chances are very slim that your Fusion has DRLs enabled. gkinla Report post Posted July 9, 2014 I will try to remember to check the next time I start it up. After I had my DRL's turned on, I noticed them immediately during the day. When I pulled up to a car stopped in front, I saw the reflection of the DRL's. Some exceptions, when the daylight reflection is brighter than the DRL's reflection. They only come on while in drive. 3 jeffo65, corncobs and GrySql reacted to this
Sleddog Report post Posted July 15, 2014 Took my FFH to a another dealer for them to look at a leaking inverter coolant cap. Turns out the reservoir was over filled. This dealer did pressure tested the system and did not need to replace the cap... AND.... They turned on the DRLs!!!!! I very happy and have a new dealer to service my car. 5 GrySql, gkinla, corncobs and 2 others reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted August 5, 2014 I asked my dealer about this and the tech told me that he couldn't figure out how to do it so he contacted the Ford Hotline and was told not to turn on DRLs for me. He said that they told him that it can be done but that he was not to turn them on.
tr7driver Report post Posted August 5, 2014 They told me I didn't have DLR's because I had Auto headlights. I emailed my service manager this and the tech figured it out: DRL instructions: notes indicate the DRL software is stored in:Body Control Module>Day Light Running Lamps>program Module>Re-test. murphy Report post Posted August 5, 2014 It's apparently trivial to turn them on but you have to find a dealer that is big enough to not be afraid of Ford. Even though you paid for all of the parts necessary to support DRLs you didn't pay Ford for the "feature". It's especially galling now that DRLs are standard in the 2015 model. My dealer also wouldn't turn them on so I'm forced to have my parking lights on all of the time. Whatever happened to "The Customer Is Always Right"? 2 Sleddog and hybridbear reacted to this
GrySql Report post Posted August 5, 2014 Over 300 replies to this thread, half the requests to Dealers are turned down by the Service Department because they call the Ford Hotline, a few Dealers just do it because you ask, all the rest need the help posted on this Forum to show the Tech how.A pretty poor showing for Ford's training and policies. My 2011 Flex Owner's Manual states that the car's DRL's can be turned on by the Dealer, all you have to do is ask. Why the problem persists with the Fusion is odd and very anti-customer satisfaction oriented. 2 gkinla and hybridbear reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted August 5, 2014 Something I noticed when looking at the sticker for a Focus. DRL were a $40 option. Has anyone seen a sticker for the Fusion showing the DRL option listed?

jeffo65 Report post Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) I just looked at a 2015 Fusion Hybrid Titanium and 2015 Fusion Hybrid SE and they are listed as standard equipment on the window sticker. - Configurable Daytime Running Lamps . acdii Report post Posted August 6, 2014 Fleet orders show it as a $40 option I believe. If this can be confirmed, and we know they are just a switch in the software, Ford says no because they are now out $40! :) If word got out that you can turn them on without buying it enabled from the factory.... corncobs Report post Posted August 6, 2014 How many people would pay the $40 upfront? For me there is no logic behind make the an option for fleet orders only. If the extra money would add actual hardware like LED strips it would be OK but $40 for a bit to be 0 or 1 is kinda expensive. At least that discussion and issue comes to a close with the new MY '15. 2 GrySql and Sleddog reacted to this
usererror Report post Posted August 13, 2014 When I ordered my 2015 I told them I wanted the DRL turned ON regardless of the "Fleet Option" that was listed. I don't have my sale print out in front of me, but they told me turning them on wouldn't be a big deal. I had them turned on in my 2012 Ford Escape when it was ordered, I just had to pay for the "time". It was just them telling the BCM(?) that my Escape was no in "Canada Mode". Apparently my dealer is awesome. In the 2015 I was also told that the DRL is actually going to be the amber corner lamps. I'll be curious to see if they are enabled when I eventually take delivery of the 2015.
murphy Report post Posted August 13, 2014 DRLs are supposed to be driver controllable in the 2015 models.
usererror Report post Posted August 14, 2014 I'll hopefully be able to confirm that in a few months. That would be great for when I really need "stealth mode". ;) DRLs are supposed to be driver controllable in the 2015 models.

Ram Report post Posted August 14, 2014 Setup my '2014 FFH for service and asked if they can switch on the DRL's? They said they thought they could do it. I mentioned that it is a $40 option in 2015's they said that it would have to have the (ILS) or what ever machine connected up to it. That would cost 1/2 hr of labor, I questioned a 1/2 hr and they said that is what they have to charge and its something 60 +/- $, I said go for it. Get mine done Monday 18th Aug. Look forward to it. Sleddog Report post Posted August 14, 2014 I've seen it on a few window stickers when researching FFH. It was even a selectable option for the build it did. My FFH was a special order. So I'm not sure if that made a difference.

Ram Report post Posted August 18, 2014 Dealership service dept turned mine on with no problem for 62$ and change. Couldn't tell much by leaving them on today since it was pouring rain so hard going home had to have all the lights on.

Easy Rider Report post Posted August 19, 2014 Dealership service dept turned mine on with no problem for 62$ and change. I would say that IS a problem.90 seconds to find scan tool.60 seconds to plug it in and turn it on.60 seconds to change the one parameter.90 seconds to put the tool away again.Let's see........total 5 minutes. At $62 for every 5 minutes, that puts the shop labor rate at about $744 per hour.I'd say that's pretty outrageous. If you assume that they had to connect the tool anyway to look for "hidden" codes, it becomes even more ridiculous. THAT dealer, or at least their service department knows NOTHING about good customer service and building lasting relationships.
murphy Report post Posted August 19, 2014 My dealer took a different approach. The Hotline told him not to do it, so he said no. I took care of it myself. I got really tired of remembering to turn the parking lights on every time I drove the car.I installed a relay so that when the car is off the front parking lights work normally. When the car is on the front parking lights are always on, that's the little W5W bulbs and the side marker LEDs. 4 corncobs, hybridbear, milleron and 1 other reacted to this
