Then there's always the old fuel gauge, which shows remaining gas. I know, old fashioned, but it works. I used to very occasionally run my previous car to within a gallon of empty. Not on purpose, and it made me very nervous. Point is that the estimated mileage to empty reading was very accurate. The way that one worked was that it would readjust the estimate according to the instant MPG. As I went from city to highway driving, then hit the sweet spot on the cruise, it would continue to climb. On the Fusion I am still not used to changing the info shown on the left side, and cannot get to things like the DTE, then back to the display I prefer most of the time. Ah, the joys of having too much tech at times.

Fusion Hybrid: Fuel Saving Tips and Tricks
dalesky replied to Fusion Hybrid Guide's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
I didn't realize that you were a WWII vet! Thanks for your service! (kidding, but not if you are a vet) I'm not quite that old myself, but served proudly in the Navy, where mileage be damned, it was full speed ahead! Have you visited the WWII memorial in DC? truly an amazing and inspiring place. I had the privilege to accompany some vets on an Honor Flight, and it was a very emotional and fulfilling experience. Now back to the topic, the A-10 Wart Hog planes frequently used depleted uranium armor piercing shells. Talk about lighting it up! To you Kuzzi, thanks for the info. I will keep it in mind if I ever see an accident with a hybrid, or God forbid if I am ever am in one.- 66 replies

I know that I stated I didn't want to bash any other cars or manufacturers, but the trouble with writing late at night is that it can be hard to stay focused. I hope I didn't offend anyone, and I really liked what you wrote Fusion TX. If I had looked over my post I would have put some things better. That being said, the main reason I bought a hybrid, never mind the brand, was to save gas, for myself, and the planet. I know one person may seem insignificant, but each of us is making a difference, even if the main reason we drive a hybrid is to benefit our own pocket books. Regardless of which one we drive. I also am seeing some reaction by friends to my mileage, especially given the overall quality and design of the car. Have a good Thursday everyone.

Have to ask just one thing- no bashing of other brands. So, whenever I see another hybrid now, especially the one starting with a P, or God forbid, the one starting with an H, I am so in love with the style of the Fusion. Never mind the tech, the quiet, sure ride, the comfort, and the handling. Wait, don't forget the amazing seats. OK, the trunk is smaller than I am used to, and there is no spare, but I am going to remedy that (thanks to this forum). Then, I see one of those 'tiny' cars, especially the one made by Mercedes..., and again, I have to ask, why? Is the mileage even impressive for such little vehicles? And then, where the heck do you put anything more than 2 grocery bags? And the pushed in look, like a pug dog. I know, there is no such thing as a perfect car, but for a hybrid, isn't the Fusion a nice car? It's so attractive, that even the Korean cars suffer by comparison on just a looks basis. Only exception is maybe the one made by Kia. The Optima is very nice looking. But, the hybrids from Korea aren't really measuring up yet. I did test them, but found them lacking. last, the big hybrid sedan from T. It's nice, but style-wise? and smoothness? Not a winner in comparison in some ways. I honestly think Ford has hit a home run, and others will work to catch up. Bet the Koreans catch up first. They are moving ahead so quickly. I believe notice has been given, and the standard has been passed to Ford for now. With just 4% of new car sales being hybrids, maybe there won't be really fast gains, but I think most people believe gasoline is not going to go down in price, so who knows. I did have a scare yesterday- a rattle somewhere in the cabin. Turns out it was sunglasses in the overhead holder, that had been pushed actually inside the area, and not sitting where they belonged in the little padded tray. Other than that, so far, this car is perfect. I have no regrets, no disappointments, and not worries. I actually really look forward to driving it. Anyhoo, just some random thoughts on why I am so satisfied with my new FFH.

I got that the other night also. Wasn't sure what it was, so I put the keys in my pocket, did not put my foot on the brake, and hit the starter, then hit it again to turn accessories off. Noise stopped! ??

Same here, except for putting on or taking off the parking brake

Should be great fun. Have a nice time! Does anyone know what if any difference turning off the traction control makes? Since putting really sticky tires on my Mustang I know that if I turn off the traction control I have a good chance of being able to break the tires loose on a hard start or if I hammer it at speed during a turn. Besides being safer on slippery roads, what are pluses or minuses? -
That's why I'm thinking of some big noisy dual exhausts! Cover up the noise of that ICE!! Has anyone else been shocked by the size and location of the muffler gigantus all across the back of the car? Really, did it have to be so massive? I'm thinking it must have special characteristics due to the engine, but can't think of why it has to be the size of a baseball team's bat bag?

Nice Pic. thanks! I think I can live with those. I am compulsive about vacuuming too, so they won't have much of a chance to get dirty. I got an email a couple of days ago that they had shipped.

In South Carolina? Come on down in July! Seriously, I have noticed that the ICE does come on for the AC at times, but not always.

I like it! True that about most drivers probably.I put a chrome plate surround on my rear plate. It has a smoked cover too. The kit came with 4 bolt caps that "hide" the bolt heads. Kind of dresses it up a bit more. Unfortunately, before I took delivery the dealer drilled holes in the front bumper. I now have them covered with the same chrome caps, and I like the look.

Waiting for mine In a lighter grey, to match the grey trim on the dash. Really don't like the Ford basic mats. The drivers foot well area is shaped a bit oddly, so that nothing aftermarket in stores come close. With my black interior I think the grey will be a nice contrast. Also, won't show every speck of dirt/debris that gets brought in. I know I mentioned this before, but I am getting anxious. Probably be here by the end of the week, hopefully. I will post pics

That's what I'm talking about! Looks Fantastic!

Still dropping here in the Myrtle Beach area. Seeing it under 3.10 right now, with 3.11 being common. Had to fill up the Mustang even tho it wasn't half empty. Who knows how long it will last?

The image of the exhaust by the way was a joke. Although, it might look OK. thanks for the info on the window vent covers

Urgent! Should I pay for the car before I have received it?
dalesky replied to LEM's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
No way! don't pay for something you haven't seen or approve of in person -
AW, now y'all are making me feel left out, since i ordered mats from somewhere else! boohoo I will let everyone know what mine look like when I get them installed. Based on another user's recommendation I expect they will be OK.

Gotta custom shop near me that could do the exhaust work. Wonder if a tuner is available yet? Just kidding by the way. Can U imagine the complexity of the engine control module on these cars?

The weather here is getting warmer, and I am looking for some window vent covers. Anyone ordered or installed them? I would prefer the type that goes inside the window, not stuck on the outside with adhesive. I think Ford may have some, but they mount outside. Also, how about this mod? Is it too much? Thanks for any ideas

Hey, it's ok on tax forms!

When I picked mine. Up it gave the range as 636, with just 6 mi on the odometer. I think that estimate varies quite a bit depending on when it is generated.
