  1. I hope my wife doesn't read this thread!
  2. dd//mm//yy Shouldn't be long. Good Luck!
  3. You don't sound like a hybrid driver. If it were me, I'd want a heavier vehicle for that kind of driving.
  4. I cheerfully let my wife drive when she mentions the passenger seat being too low. It's kinda tough on mileage as her right foot only knows two positions, and the aw sh*t handle gets a work out. If I used duct tape and a rolled up sock, my clean underwear would forever stop magically appearing in the drawer. I'm not prepared for that to happen.
  5. EPA estimates for the Prius are 50 mpg combined. http://www.epa.gov/fueleconomy/overall-high.htm Fuelly shows a bell shaped curve with Prius owners effectively getting between 37 and 58 mpg. http://www.fuelly.com/car/toyota/prius I imagine the folks getting 58 mpg are pretty happy...those getting 37 mpg not so much. Personally, if I had your experience with your VW Jetta TDI, I'd buy another one. If I wanted a hybrid, I'd take a look at the VW Jetta Hybrid. It's supposed to get 45 mpg combined according to the EPA.
  6. For me it's Tire Mobility Kit / lack of spare. I can think of a "special" place to put it that involves some Ford Engineers. I would include that removable tray in the console as well. IMHO both are pretty much useless.
  7. Acdii with over 2.200 posts, you are the most active forum member I've ever seen and ought to be paid by the word. Maybe there's a new career in for you! :)
  8. Nice to hear from you Mizzo. I hope the relationship between you and Eve is a happy one!!
  9. Went the Contact Us tab and submitted this: "A company rep monitoring the threads might provide useful answers to member questions on occasion. Is this a possibility?" It couldn't hurt for members to do the same.
  10. Is it lurking or loitering?
  11. Welcome! I hope you become active here. Love your input thus far. ....as Fahey Flynn used to say: "Happy motoring!:
  12. Also: http://www.edmunds.com/fuel-economy/we-test-the-tips-part-ii.html Brent Romans, Senior Automotive Editor: "So it seems that the biggest effect on fuel economy is — surprise! — you. If you want to maximize fuel economy, the best way to do it is simply to drive in a relaxed manner." Some might say you need to drive a hybrid differently. I'd say differently includes driving in a "relaxed manner." My brother-in-law, whom I've never seen drive faster than what he calls "the triple nickle" on the Insterstate, used to tell me: "It ain't a race. We're all gonna wind up in the same fix. Some gonna get there sooner than others, but there ain't no prize for gettin' there first." It makes my sister crazy!

  14. Thanks for the post as I went and checked out AAA. They quoted an excellent rate on the FFH and Ford SCREW short bed. Together they're $66 more than what I pay State Farm for the FFH. It's like insuring the pickup for nothin'. I said, "What the... is going on?" The reply indicated their rates are figured differently than State Farm. Anyone have a bad experience with AAA?
  15. Ford Premium Floor Mat option 'cause I don't walk in the clay anymore.
  16. My big brother told me: "My understanding of EPA fuel economy tests is they are estimates derived from laboratory testing of simulated driving performed by the auto manufacturers and randomly checked by the EPA. The key word here is estimates. No rubber meets any actual road during the tests. Weather related issues aren't addressed, and no accounting for quality of gasoline and additives is made. How can the EPA economy numbers be anything but estimates since no real world numbers are used. I believe the EPA uses the estimates to measure how well a manufacturer meets CAFE standards as well a an aide to consumers making buying decisions. Testing of devices that report mileage and fuel usage that will be used as a basis for future road taxes is ongoing. Expect legislation that use this data to replace taxes paid at the pump, and all new car models will be equipped with these devices. Future data gathered from these devices should replace current EPA economy estimates with real world data." He's almost never wrong.
  17. Actually, the FFH is my wife's car. I primarily drove a Ford Screw short bed until wife re-tired. I drive the FFH now because she likes me to drive when we go out together, and the FFH gets sooooo much better mpg. Her pink flamingo antenna ball with the Mickey Mouse ears does garner some odd looks, but I prefer to think they're caused by the great looks of the FFH even tho it looks like a catfish..
  18. Better bump it 'cause the weather's gettin' warmer.
  19. Yeesh! A reasonable person might conclude from past experience that Ford losing a class action law suit over mileage claims would result in somewhat worthless bragging rights for the plaintiffs and unreasonable monetary rewards for plaintiff's attorneys. That's if Ford loses. Gas mileage is not static! There are too many variables involved. Personally, it is reasonable for the lieometer on my FFH to show readings of 39mpg to 54mpg for various excursions. Is it accurate? I don't know. To get an accurate for sure accounting, I'd need to record mileage and fuel purchased over an extended period of time from the same gas pump, auto-filling the tank, at the same time of day, when ambient temperature was the same...etc. This is something I'm not willing to do and it doesn't account for the different ways I drive a vehicle. Check out Fuelly's bell curve for the Prius. They show almost 1956 data points that effectively range from 36mpg to 58mpg. I'm sure the folks reporting 58mpg are estatic. Those getting 36mpg not so much. Yes, if it were me I'd probably bitch loudly.
  20. Here's the reply from Linnear Logic concerning Xgauge codes for the ScanGauge II. Here's a link for Xguage codes including those for the Escape Hybrid (at the bottom). Is this type of info is useful to anybody driving a FFH? http://www.scangauge.com/support/x-gauge/ford-specific-xgauges/
  21. How about, If four of the last seven governors were in prison you might live in Illinois. In Michigan somebody asked me where I was from. Replying Illinois, they quipped, "the slogan on your license plate oughta be changed from 'Land of Lincoln' to 'Personally made in Illinois by a former Governor'." Rod Blagojevik, George Ryan, Dan Walker and Otto Kerner, all doing or did time.
  22. :wrongforum: Whoops I didn't realize they had an active forum. Sorry.
  23. I went by my dealer yesterday and saw a row of 2013 Fusions lined up in front. They also had another row in back of the shop. I asked my salesman if any were hybrids. He said no, but they had their 1st Energi delivered the day before my visit. Has anybody here taken delivery of an Energi?
