  1. Anybody have experience with Torque Pro? I'd like to know how it compares to Scan Guage II. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torque http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/251254909836?lpid=82
  2. Low Country - you got no hills to go up. I love everything about the low country except noseums. Is it alright for a Chicago Yankee to call your fine state South Cackalacky?
  3. I filled up my boat and my truck in Spartanburg, SC at a Wilco/Hess. The price was $2.999 per gallon. I haven't seen regular gas under $3.00 inforever! We got back home and the local stations are $3.599 and $3.639.
  4. I re-newed my AAA membership on the advice of the tow truck driver who towed us from Key Largo to a Ford dealer in Homestead, Florida after a puncture to the front left tire sidewall. He pointed out that Ford would only cover tows to a Ford dealership and that many times he's forced to ask for cash on a second tow. My wife insists that we get a spare tire and jack before we go on a road trip again with the 2013 FFH. I consider this incident the "1st strike". Also, to my chagrin the RA operator who took my call couldn't understand that my new car didn't have a spare tire and was reluctant to order up a tow.
  5. The 500 really grew on me. Lots of room and very reliable. The only problems we had were rear brake rotors at 23,000 miles (Ford later re-paid the cost) and a motor mount we replaced at 70,000 miles. Too bad it got a reputation as a "geezer-mobile". IMO the FFH is more comfortable on long drives and gets waaay better gas mileage.
  6. We left on a Florida trip 5 day into the ownership of our 2013 FFH. We liked the ride so much we took "back" roads home.
  7. We traded a 2005 Ford Five Hundred with similar fuel usage for our 2013 FFH. Like you, we figured we'd be pleased at 40mpg. The 2013 FFH so far has happily exceeded that expectation. Welcome to the forum and hope to see future comments about your FFH experiences.

  9. So, I got the 13B07 letter yesterday per the PCM "calibration". The day before my salesman called to ask me how satisfied I was with our 2013 FFH. I assured him we loved the car despite the strange noises it makes, the "service action" for the shifter, the recall for the fuel delivery whatever and his non-action on the promise of helping find a suitable spare. The call sounded like he was on a speaker phone, and my general impression was he wasn't interested in my viewpoints. Obviously, thinking about the call doesn't leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling. It left me with the impression the sales guy was completing a chore. Just curious - Have any other FFHers received the letter and had a call from the dealer about the time the letter arrived?
  10. That's the "Chicago Way". Hmmmm! The current resident of the White House made his political bones in Chicago and Crook county politics.

    MPG Happy Talk

We got 50.2mpg on a 204 mile round trip to Michigan. 200 mile on the Interstate with ECO cruise on and 3 adults. Not bad despite our 10% ethanol penalty.
  12. That's because we have to buy EPA mandated special formulation. I worked on the carb on one of my outboards last week. The fresh gas I used sure didn't smell like gasoline.
  13. $3.999 at Costco and closest station. The CEO of Gulf oil was on with the tube yesterday predicting gasoline prices to fall under $3.00 per gallon. Here in Chicagoland they got us trained to give a sigh of relief when unleaded regular falls below $4 a gallon. Oh no! There's flooding in Alberta where all that Canadian heavy comes from, so it won't stay under $4 for long.
  14. I was also surprised at how comfortable this car is to drive on long trips. It even tells me when to stop and have a cup of coffee.
  15. Turmoil in Egypt...apparently increases the price of heavy Canadian, even tho it's only sourced to the US and Canadian refineries. Prices in the Chicago area are and remain above $4 a gallon. It's comforting to know that when Egypt becomes turmoil-less that our gas prices might decline....meanwhile the F-150 sits and the bicycles and the FFH get daily use.
  16. Geremy13 - Have patience. We took delivery of our FFH in February and drove to FL from Chicagoland and back averaging 44mpg. Last weekend with 6600 miles on the FFH, we drove a 150 mile round trip to a friend's lake cottage with 4 adults in the car, the A/C blasting and a trunk full of picnic goodies and averaged 47.2mpg. Also, Ford's new programming strategy is supposed to help mileage after cold starts. That could result in better mileage for your commutes.
  17. Must be another maintenance problem, refinery fire, pipeline leak, blend change, whatever....prices jumped back up over $4 a gallon here to $4.24 - $4.19 at our closest stations.
  18. Welcome!! Keep us posted on your build process.
  19. Welcome aboard! Good to see another FFHer in the Chicago area and hope to see you actively contribute. Was it hard to make the change from the M3? You realize they won't allow you to pass in the right lane anymore on the Interstates. ;) That's for BMW drivers only. Just Kidding!

    MPG Happy Talk

We just did a 150 mile round trip to a friend's lake cottage with four adults in the car, A/C set at 70 degrees with a trunk full of picnic goodies and 3 lawn chairs. The route was part city and part highway driving and max speed was 61 mph. I was pleased to see 47.2 mpg on the trip odometer for the ride. :)
  21. Around here the "hybrid haters" drive pick ups which is ironic as the wife's FFH shares a garage with an F-150. The preferred form of harrassment is to attempt to wipe the dew off the left front bumper, especially if you don't do 40 mph on residential streets. Also, have they passed a law making stop signs a suggestion?
  22. Our closest gas stations are $3.95 and $3.90. Costco is $3.72. I was on Washington Island, WI last week and bought pure regular gas for $4.07 for the F150. The mpg jumped up after the fill up 2 mpg. That's about a 10% increase.
  23. Hey Jeff! Do you know if that price is for pure gas (no ethanol blend)?
