  1. Today our Costco is $3.88. The closest stations to home range $4.00 - $4.05. Slowly coming down. :drop:
  2. I like the capless system and the driver side location of the fuel fill. The F-150 and the FFH are the same so I don't have to remind myself which side the fuel fill is on by looking at the the arrow on the little gas pump next to the gas gauge. Thanks to GrySql I'll know what to do when I get one of those dash display warnings.
  3. I just filled the truck up at Costco for $4.18 a gallon, down 2 cents from yesterday. It still bothers me that gas is 50 cents a gallon less over the state line - those fracking oil companies.
  4. I try to use the voice function, but it prefers my wife's speech. I find it peculiar as I use my phone's voice function without problems.
  5. Good idea! Water is something we take fo granted here. Not so when we get out west. I also have a Personal Lifesaving Beacon, PLB, in the !st aid kit that goes with me from car to truck to boat.
  6. We have a lawn service...but she does like to play with dirt in the garden. She also likes to shovel snow. I bought her a snow blower that she doesn't like to use. My "have to have supplies" include a blanket, first aid kit and light in case I have to change a tire in the dark. OOPS! I mean use the Tire Mobility Kit. My wife will not have anything to do with tires, so I include a AAA card to supplement the Ford Care in case of a blowout.
  7. This is my 3rd vehicle with Ford navigation as an option. Navigating with Navteq has occasionally been what my wife calls "a mokee adventure" when using it on local roads in rural areas off of the Interstate. :shift: I sometimes check unknown destinations in Navteq against my Garmin or android Google Navigation so I don't have to listen to her.
  8. http://www.tiretraker.com/ I got these for the truck and trailers. They saved several tires. They show tire pressure in lbs. and temperature at valve stem. Drawback - remove the sensors before running thru a car wash and put back in order. Unlike some competitors, most Ford gauges don't show true measurement. They only indicate whether or not the level falls within acceptable limits. That's the reason I bought a ScanGauge II for my tow vehicles.
  9. Two of the four closest stations to us were right on. The other two hadn't been updated in forty eight hours. I can see why that would be the case as if you had to use a browser to update data on a droid device. GasBuddy is less cumbersome. Good find though for folks if GasBuddy servers goe down.
  10. Home town prices for regular E10 range today $4.499 - $4.299 with the closest station at $4.299. Our Costco (in the next town west) is 6 cents a gallon less then Monday at $4.239.
  11. I made mine out of aluminum foil. ;) It's nice to know I not alone though...
  12. Thanks for the explanation of the new strategy and "empty reserve". Will running out of fuel possibly damage engine or pollution control components?
  13. I believe the low fuel warning kicks in when fuel level reaches 1/8th of the usable capacity of the fuel tank. The actual capacity of the tank is the usable capacity + the empty reserve. This implies that the actual tank is segmented. I still haven't come across the figure for the empty reserve of the 2013 FFH. I guess it's a secret. I don't put a whole lot of trust in DTE as that's supposed to be based on the last 500 miles computed from readings of the running average fuel economy, or RAFE. For forumites with ScanGuage IIs, RAFE might be worthwhile programming in X-Guage.
  14. I don't get ads unless I allow scripts to run on my WinX machines. There are sites that tell me to allow Java scripts to see a page, so I select which scripts to temporarily or permanently run from a list. If temporarily the scripts go away when the browser closes. It takes experimenting and patience to use the browser add-on so it's not for everybody, but since using it I've have fewer problems with the puters. Tablets and phones present a challenge for different solutions depending on operating system.
  15. I reported this in the Battery Saver topic. We took the FFH in for the reprogramming of the dc/dc module yesterday morning. They also did work on the gear shift knob and fuel delivery module replacements per the recalls. They kept our FFH overnight as the tech still had the gas tank off at quitting time. I read on an Explorer forum that Ford recalled 465,000 vehicles after 600 owners complained about the smell of gas or saw gas on the ground, Does it remind anyone of the Pinto fiasco of 1978? Gotta be costing Ford big time money.
  16. Anyone know how many hours labor is allotted for the recall?

    MPG Happy Talk

We always knew you'd be a magnet someday! :)
  18. I took the FFH yesterday for the battery saver warning dc/dc module re-programing, and they replaced the gear shift knob and did the "field service action" fuel module replacement. I asked them to check for a clicking/popping sound. They said they couldn't hear it and no work was performed. It took all day and part of the morning, so all that work is a multi-day job. It's gotta be costing Ford big money on these "field service actions."
  19. Check this out. Interesting toward the end. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/gas-prices-over-place-heres-125227743.html edit: Interesting toward the end.
  20. I suspect there are too many regional incentives and spiffs to really know what the dealer paid for the vehicle. I'd also be surprised if the dealer agrees to giving up any part of the holdback. You gotta let 'em keep enough to stay in business? The real profit used to be in trade ins, but today most are sold at auction or to buyers who come through with trailer transports. Your trade in is a gamble on the dealer's part, so little wonder they value it on the conservative side.
  21. It's June 10th and our Costco is $4.279 today for regular per GasBuddy.com. Our closest fuel stop, Speedway, is $4.389 and our Shell is $4.499. I go to Costco in the A.M. and fill 'er up at the same pump when she needs gas because I keep a running manual calculation of MPG. I try to avoid their regular gas dumps on Tue. and Fri. because IMO it stirs up and suspends the crap in their tanks. We got enough crap around here already.
  22. Lane Keeping, BLIS, Adaptive Cruise Control, Park Assist, My Ford Touch, Navigation - if they start showing us what's over the next hill I'd lose my yen to travel.
  23. X2 on the Rain-X. Besides the car and truck, I use it on the big boat and rarely have to use the wipers for bow spray.
  24. Pretty clever! Good reason to never buy a rental car used unless it's flex fuel.
  25. Hometown prices today range $4.539 - $4.299 and rising. How come we never see a 3 or a 6 on the end. No sense of humor, ayeh?
