  1. As it says possible world record. Basically I’m looking into adding a fuel cell into the car basically deleting the trunk to go from coast to coast without stoping and only filling it up once. To start. Basically cannonball run but without going 100 lol 70 cruise control and that’s until mountains lol . Figured about 3000 miles and 75 cruise control I get about 38 mpg so a 80 gallon fuel cell would weigh 500ls in gas alone so not close to the 825 max load. Just spitballing an idea here thanks
  2. FFH has an actual 14.1gal fuel tank (Topped Off), not 13.5gal. like the OM states. I would think 13.5gal. would be a minimum value. This turned out to take more time than I thought, because there is about 1.7gal. left in the tank when I got to 0miles to Empty. So after putting 28mi. on the FWY, I had to put another 54mi. (82mi Total) on the car trying to run out gas which took another hour and half thinking I would run out at anytime. At 80mi. I was thinking how many gallons does this car hold, it was never going to run out! When it finally did, it was a non event, it switched over to EV. It gives you a red triangle message to find safe place to stop, I hit OK button to remove the message and EVed it 2miles to a gas station. No big deal. I did have 2gal gas can in the car just in case. Curiously when I restarted the car with gas in it, it started in EV mode and didn't go to ICE mode till after I got going. :) Paul

  4. I just thought I'd elaborate on this subject since a couple of us have had these Dash Display Warnings in very different weather conditions. Hybridbear's instance was in very cold, ice and snow and mine was in fair weather. I tried resetting mine with the FFH's little funnel that is included and carried under the mat in the trunk. The procedure is in the FFH Owner's manual. The Warning did not reset at that time, now I know why. I'll get to that in a minute. When these 'Warnings' occur I use the center console's SYNC system to generate a Vehicle Health Report. Then I upload that VHR from the car to the Syncmyride.com website where I had previously registered my car when I first took possession. This is a good thing to do whenever an Alert or Warning is displayed on your Dash Display and, especially as any Warning may be transient, you will have a record of the occurrence. If you are driving, just pull over, park with the car running and do it. Back to re-setting the Fill Inlet. My clearing with the funnel did not seem to work, today I looked at the VHR on Syncmyride.com. The VHR had the Warning listed and explained that the warning may not reset right away, see below. I've underlined the related reset info and the exact text from the Syncmyride website. - UrgentCheck Fuel Fill Inlet What Should I Do? At the next opportunity, safely pull off the road, turn off the engine, open the fuel filler door and remove any visible debris from the fuel fill opening. Insert either the fuel fill nozzle or the fuel fill funnel (see Refilling With a Portable Fuel Container in your Owner's Manual for funnel location) provided with the vehicle several times to dislodge any debris and/or allow the inlet to close properly. If this action corrects the problem, the Check Fuel Fill inlet message may not reset immediately. It may take several driving cycles for the Check Fuel Fill Inlet message to turn off. A driving cycle consists of an engine start-up (after four or more hours with the engine off) followed by city/highway driving. Continuing to drive with the Check Fuel Fill Inlet message on may cause the service engine soon lamp to turn on as well. - I can't know for certain, but after finding this out about one type incident, the reset time required may pertain to others. Taking the time to get a VHR for future reference could help any of us who experience these 'teething' problems with this new generation of technology in our cars. Edit: It's best to email the report to yourself or print out each VHR, the Syncmyride website only keeps the last one that was reported. Hopefully you never need to do this
  5. Please post your 1 year fuel history if you have one. It might be interesting if any conclusions can be drawn. One thing I'm concluding from my history is that what I thought was better gas mileage due to getting past my break in miles and finally learning how to drive a hybrid to maximize fuel efficiency, was nothing more than seasonal temperature changes. I'm not complaining though. 40 MPG average for the year is not 47, but it's darn better than the 24 MPG I was getting in my Jetta for the previous 10 years.
  6. So I wanted to make sure the car was all full for the commute next week. Tomorrow will mark my "real world" driving condition: piss poor traffic conditions, 30 minutes to an hour wasted in the morning to go 19 miles, piss poor road conditions, piss poor infrastructure in downtown Seattle...and then a reverse of what I just mentioned, on the way home. My understanding is that the tank is 14 gallons. Either that's incorrect or the fuel gauge isn't reading the capacity properly, or maybe not calibrated, because though the indicator was just above the halfway mark, the car only took 3 gallons in, and is now showing full. That's not what I expected to happen. I even checked the pump a couple of times to make sure it wasn't a premature stop, but when the car started up, sure enough the gauge is just over full. Are others seeing the same type of behavior? Where the amount you fill up doesn't seem to track with the fuel indicator? Is it possible the Fusion's reserve amount is higher than other cars?
