  1. What is the badge under the Hybrid badge on the door? I can't quite make it out from the photo,.
  2. Yah, but I like to game the gas prices. I bought Gas Saturday in New Jersey at $3.31/gal. It lasted me until I got to Central Ohio, where gas was $3.85. With the 2010 I could have made it 800 miles to Indiana and filled up for $3.49. (Plus I wouldn't have needed to fill up for $3.76 here in the rain storm Monday, I'd still have almost a third of a tank.) Locally Kroger's give you discounts on gas based on what you spend on groceries, I can usually qualify for .20/gallon, but its a discount/fill up. So If I buy 11 gallons I don't save as much as buying 18 gallons. I know in the whole scheme of things its not a lot of money saved, but I like think I'm rewarding the lower priced players in the great gas game while helping the car pay for itself. I'm easily entertained by it, lol.
  3. I also miss the larger gas tank. I could drive from Illinois to Washington DC with only one stop to fill up.
  4. Drove the TiHi from central Illinois to Atlantic City and back last week. 2009 miles, including interstate @ 75+ mph, across the prairie and the mountains and some city driving while we were there. Averaged out to 38.8 mpg, with the car computer showing 39.1. I now have just over 4,2000 miles on the car. I pulled my grill blockers out before the trip. I made the same trip a couple of years ago in my 2010 Merc Milan Hy and got 33 mpg. I miss that big gas tank that was in the Merc.
  5. I miss the hard drive in the Sony Radio in my 2010, and I miss being able to put the bar chart up on there right side of the display. Also, I think the seats are wider and the window A pillars are narrower in the 2010 (I had a Merc Milan).
  6. I have a spare from a regular fusion that the dealer threw in to close the deal. I picked up a jack and wrench at a junk yard for $5. I tested the spare on the front and back and it works as expected. I do have the 18' wheels. I hit a giant chuck hole in Atlantic City last week. I didn't damage the tire, but being over 700 miles from home, it gave me peace of mind to know I wouldn't be stranded on the roadside for the drive home if the tire gave out.
  7. I miss the bar chart that I could put on the right screen in my 2010. I wish they would add that with the next update.
  8. I'm headed to New Jersey this week, so I pulled the insulation out last night. I'll be interested to see what the MPG is over the next couple of days. We have been seeing trips on the upper 40 mpg last week and my lifetime avg has jumped from 33.4 to 39.1 in the past 2 weeks. This will be our first road trip with the car, so it will be interesting to see how it travels. We only have 2,200 miles on it so far.
  9. I must have missed that you blocked both the lower and upper grills. I only did the upper. Did blocking the lower result in any significant improvement or danger?
  10. Thanks for following up on this one.
  11. I miss the little coin drawer that was on the left side of the dash in the 2010. Kept my quarters for Aldi there.
  12. Have you removed your grill blockers? I was thinking about taking mine off Sunday as high temps are now in the 50's here, but changed my mind after a 56 mpg drive home from church, I'm sure they helped keep the engine warm while I was in there. I have been watching the temp gauge and it reads slightly above 60%, so I figure I'm still safe for now. I'll be taking a road trip to the east coast in a couple of weeks and will probably take mine off before I hit the highway.
  13. I like to keep my tank topped off every time gas nears the recent low price of gouging cycle. That way when the do jack it up 35-cents/gal I have a full tank and avoid the rip off. I wish I had the bigger tank that my 2010 had. I could drive to East Coast on one fill up.
  14. Consider yourself flamed.
  15. I wish the car had a way to ping the GPS so I could find it with my phone at the airport parking lot. I usually take a picture of the location sign on the nearest light pole when I leave it, but I forgot last time....
  16. I agree 100%. I'd be happy just to bring up the google map from my iphone on the screen.
  17. I have a 2014 ti hy. I have only seen the battery saver message once, the day after I brought it home from the dealer and I was programming the MFT/sync. In late January the car sat for 12 days while I was away. It started right up, no problems. So far, so good. It gets driven about 10 miles/day, but often sits at the rental car lot for a couple of days every other week when my wife travels for work. I'm surprised the short trips haven't triggered this event. I'm not sure if the 12V battery is the original. When I did a hard reset on the car about a month ago, the battery didn't appear to be properly installed, so I'm guessing it was replaced before I purchased the car, but I have no proof one way or the other.
  18. The box and hybrid driving did result in changing my route to work. I found another route that gives me much better mpg (no longer caught in the middle of a pack of traffic involved in half mile races to sit the next stoplight), avoids the high risk drivers, and only takes me about 5 minutes longer to commute. I never considered this route in 20 years of making the same commute, until I dropped my car for service and the dealer van driver gave me a lift to work using this route.
  19. I think most insurance companies make most of their money on investing premium payments until they have to pay out. The “float”. The premium/pay out rate is closely watched by regulators. I tested a black box for Country insurance for 3 months. It was pretty cool and kept track of everything on a daily map that you could look at and see icons that you click on for more info. Fast stops, rapid acceleration, aggressive driving, night driving. After a month I could see the most dangerous part of my commute was where the corporate State Farm Insurance Headquarters buildings led to the public streets. No kidding, I'm always jamming on the brakes as someone pulls out or changes 3 lanes in an instant merge. “Oh surprise, I get off here to go to work, sorry man…” These people working for the nation's largest car insurer either can't wait to get to work or do so at the last second. The drive home is like being in a NASCAR race that allows both right and left turns. The maps made me look like I was trolling for an accident pay out from State Farm. I'm sure some fancy lawyer would make that case to prevent a pay out. Not good. I want no part of that.
  20. I never have see the coffee cup. One night driving home from Peoria it did tell me to put my hands on the wheel. Since I had one on the wheel at the time it turned into a game of fool the fusion and see how well the lane keeping works. (I'm surprised my wife lets me drive some days) I'll be taking a road trip to Atlantic City next month that will come close to 2K miles by the time I get home, so I am starting to think of things I want to try/test along the way.
  21. They goosed it from 3.41 to 3.65 here today
  22. The Michelins had better snow traction on the 2010 than the Good Years have on the 2014. But that may be the car and tire size more than the tires. SMR, I'll be interested in knowing how the Conti's work out for you in the fusion. I'm on my second set of Conti Trac SUV tires on my 01 Highlander at 132K miles. I'll probably be replacing them in the next year or so, mostly because my struts went bad and two of the tires wore uneven before I caught it. I don't think they still make the same tire, but I'll buy them if I find a set.
