GrySql Report post Posted April 8, 2013 Had a couple walk by as we were leaving a greasy spoon restaurant for lunch, asked how I like the FFH and we had a 5 minute show and tell. They had just bought a basic 1.6L ECOBoost Automatic Fusion SE and were having second thoughts on their decision to get the ICE vs the Hybrid. When they left us I'm afraid they were having 2nd and 3rd thoughts on why they hadn't bought the Hybrid. Just a little Johnny Appleseed I am, I am. ;) 1 hybridbear reacted to this

acdii Report post Posted April 8, 2013 I start out in town going 30 mph for 2 miles, then 50 mph for about 4 miles and then down a country road 30-40 mph the rest of the trip. You could probably call it city driving, but I go faster when I run into traffic. And I EV the battery all the way down and then charge just long enough to lose a couple tenths on my tank average then I EV again. In this warmer weather I can go 35-40 mph on half a charge for like 2 miles. Add: Drove home tonight, no traffic but buncha red lights, 13.6 miles in 27 minutes, or about an average 30.2 mph, 58° and raining out, 52.4 mpg, tank average 50.7, lifetime 42.0.I had a feeling it was something like this. If you got that with the country driving like by me, then it would be fantastic Holy crap awesome MPG. Not knocking it in any way, just was curious of the trip that got those numbers. tombarker13ffh Report post Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) But again I've also taken the highway the whole way and left cruise on 60 except the last two miles and still got 45-50 mpg. I haven't decided which method does better. My interstate drive last week showed 53 mpg and it was all on cruise :s Edited April 8, 2013 by tombarker13ffh 2 acdii and hybridbear reacted to this

neod192 Report post Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) I guess it's time for me to start posting in this thread. About 45F outside, took a co-worked for a quick ride/demo around the block. Been going pretty slow, no CC, even floored it once! We sat in the car for a few minutes before we hit the road, so the engine warmed up a little and charged the battery. I didn't turn off the engine, so that time is included in this trip :) Edited April 8, 2013 by neod192 1 hybridbear reacted to this

Otherwise you could add them to your gallery. I'm waiting to see your Fuelly average go up as you fill more tanks. With all these high MPG trips I'd expect your Fuelly average will go up soon
jeff_h Report post Posted April 9, 2013 (edited) Looks like the warmer weather may be MPG flip-flop time for me... for the past 3 months I've gotten about 10% better MPG on the afternoon commute than on the morning commute. However yesterday afternoon ran the AC with temp of 83 and got 48.3 on the way home. My morning commute was normally 45-49 or so when it was in the 40s, however this morning with temp of 64 the morning commute was 53.5 MPG. hybridbear Report post Posted April 9, 2013 83! Wow! We're supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow tomorrow into Thursday. We're still consistently 10-20 degrees below average every day here and it's hurting our gas mileage. We've only seen 1 day so far this spring above 50 degrees. Every day should have been above 50 since mid-March. Glad Virginia isn't below average like we are up here Looks like the warmer weather may be MPG flip-flop time for me... for the past 3 months I've gotten about 10% better MPG on the afternoon commute than on the morning commute. Sure, right now my part of VA is up to 75 ish degrees, but last Thursday we had 7 inches of snow. It's not exactly normal down in my neck. That said, my fuel economy this week has bee stupendous so far. Where before I was averaging 39-40 mpg combined on my daily commute, now I'm getting around 44. This morning at 55* I got 52.5 mpg. The drive home is usually somewhere around 38-39 mpg, so my lifetime average is slowly creeping up on 40 mpg now. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
tombarker13ffh Report post Posted April 10, 2013 Explain this. Cruise set on 68 mph. Driving straight into 20mph winds and heavy rain. In my wife's escape. Rated 31 mpg hwy. Bounced around 39-41 mpg for awhile and then settled down to 37 avg over 70 miles. I didn't think it could do this... 1 hybridbear reacted to this
