took a 40 mile drive from uptown Manhattan to farmingdale long island and got 49.5 mpg each way in 50* and i was driving between 55-75 mph so if i had tried to go 55 the whole way i wouldve gotten better mpg

Driving yesterday at 32 degrees, mostly highway miles across the city. Even cruising at a steady 55 MPH the mileage is quite good

Here's an interesting thing.

Temp in the garage was 70˚F, outside was 80˚F - the FFH had not run since yesterday and SOC was 3/4.

I started, backed out, idled down to the corner, slithered on my belly to the next stop sign, then around the corner and ghosted into the big shopping parking lot to the local Post Office and parked.

The ICE never started in 0.7 of a mile, used EV Mode from a 'cold' (yeah, I know) start all the way.

 

Now, is that supposed to happen? No warmup for the ICE controls? SOC working overtime here?

 

Well, after that, when I restarted from the USPS office the ICE kicked in right away.

I drove down to the grocery store and back 2.1 miles with frequent stops signs and starts, up to 45 mph - got 43mpg.

Warm weather and short trips aren't so bad after all.

Yes mine also does this and I have also seen others mention this... I call it the "sneak out before the ICE wakes up", like the husband that sneaks out quietly in the morning to go fishing before the wife with the honey-do list is awake. Note the HVAC probably needs to be off for this to work, unless I suppose the temperature is such that it would not cause the ICE to come on anyway.

 

My regular gas station is about a mile away and mostly downhill, a couple times I've made it there without waking the ICE, other times the SOC got too low or it sensed the ICE was needed for acceleration (there is one small uphill part that I can't always 'EV' over), and then the jig's up and the ICE comes on and acts as normal.

 

So when I am able to sneak down to the gas station before the ICE is awake, I can get 999.9 MPG.

Temps are getting into mid to high 30's. MPG is averaging 40mpg - 42mpg. Hope it gets higher but we can live with it. :)

So this week, I've been driving to Pasadena for training on 210 freeway. Since I am not familiar with the roads and the traffic patterns, my MPG is suffering a bit. I did 46.3 mpg in the morning and 47.1 in the evening. However, a lot more people are passing me and tailgating me so I had to up my speed to 70mph which probably cost me a couple of mpg. Once my battery is charged, I am getting 45-50mpg on ICE which is great.

Finally filled up again tonight. Drove 526 miles on 11.75 gallons, at least that's how much I got in it this time, for an average 44.8 mpg on the tank. I think it would've been better if we didn't have a winter storm roll through this last week. VERY happy with the numbers I've been able to get so far.

Wednesday evening after work my wife and I washed our car and then cleaned out the interior of all the sand and salt from winter. After that we decided to go for a little drive around the city since it was warm to us Minnesotans at 38 degrees. Attached is our mileage. Pretty good for city driving at 38 degrees starting with a cold engine

I guess this qualifies.... It finally is in the 40's this week so I have been driving with no heat on and getting around 33-35 MPG ...

I see your problem! You took the Fusion badge off and negatively altered the aerodynamic qualities of the vehicle! Better put it back!

If only that we're the solution ... I'm at 6000 miles and an average of 30mpg lifetime :( the badge is still on the car... It's just under that decal

Well that explains why my 10 has been spunky. Even with 250# of grain and corn in the trunk, and the "extra weight" :hysterical: I still managed to get 38 in it. It is supposed to be a bit warmer tomorrow, maybe I will brave it and put some miles on the 13 and see how she does. I just dont want to get the car dirty. :camera:

Driving around the city this afternoon when it was 49 degrees out we consistenly did better than 40 MPG even with a cold engine. One one 8.8 mile drive I got 66 MPG starting with a warm engine and a half full SOC, 6.8 miles were in EV mode. I wish I had taken a picture of that one, but when I arrived I was hurrying to get somewhere so I forgot. So far on this tank, about 30 miles driving today since filling up, we're getting 55 MPG. Tomorrow it's going to rain though and then drop back down to highs of only 32-35 next week so I know that mileage will drop :(

I took a 142 mile trip today and got 36.4 MPG cruising at 70 MPH. I was happy with that bc I was in my dad's '13 Accord (rated at 36 highway).

 

Hey, you guys never said the happy MPG had to be in a Fusion :-)

Great MPGs today when the mercury hit 50! Both trips were all city driving. The 7.0 mile trip started with a cold engine too! I'm loving this warm weather and loving our Fusion!! :yahoo: :woohoo: :dance:
