I'm seeing varied results, usually from between 30 to 50 mpg on short trips. My trip to work is only 8 miles so it would be good if I could expect this to improve. We have about 6600 now and it seems like the MPGs have improved. Our first tank was only 34 MPG and in similar weither now we're getting 38-40 MPG per tank. And that's in snow and temps ranging from -10 to +20. You should see improvement too. How warm does the ICE get on your trip to work? I've found that displaying the coolant temp on the MyView screen is very helpful because there is a definite correlation between the temp of the ICE and its efficiency. In MN right now even on 20+ mile trips the ICE doesn't reach normal operating temp and we're still seeing around 40 MPG. When we were on vacation in California last month we averaged above 50 MPG during our weeks there in warmer weather. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I also have been riding my bike to the gym when possible (infinite MPG then!!!). If I fill up thursday it will have been 6 weeks on the first tank!!! I think we all knew this from the start with these cars...like the guy from Motor Trend says, the Ford has more horsepower and is heavier, common sense says it isn't going to get better gas mileage when those two areas are against it. I think we all knew that in advance. And...Ford isn't the only company to do this. At least they didn't outright cheat like Hyundai and Kia. Ford no doubt calculated the risk and decided to take advantage of this failing of the EPA tests to program their cars to excel at the EPA tests, while being just really good in real life. No doubt the Ford engineers knew that these cars would not consistenly achieve 47 MPG in real life, most people don't really get 50 MPG in a Prius, so they probably figured it wouldn't matter. I think what will come back to bite them are all the hybrid fans (like us here on the forum) who are knowledgeable about hybrids and are the people that can help sell hybrids to the masses. Those of us who know about hybrids CAN get 50 MPG or higher in a Prius, yet many are not achieving 47 MPG in the Fusion/C-Max and that is what will hurt Ford. Hybrid cars have not yet reached their tipping point in the marketplace, and with the lower than expected fuel economy of the C-Max and Fusion I believe that Ford will make all hybrid sales take a step backward. But who knows, maybe that's what Ford wanted all along. Maybe they did all of this on purpose. I posted this video in another forum. Check out this video at the 7 minute mark. And you get all of it at a very compelling price point. When I first started shopping for this car, I looked at the commensurate models online-- the Camry, the Accord, the Hyundai, etc. and I just didn't see anything that came close for what I would be paying, even assuming the gas mileage in all of those hybrids was dead equal. OK here's one, with today's activity: Morning commute (60 miles) - 44.0 (was cold but not really cold, maybe 30 degrees, 44 MPG is OK)Went out to a drive-thru for lunch (8 miles R/T) - 32.4 (what a POS, can't believe Ford would game things like this, I hate you Ford you big bunch of liars)Afternoon commute (60 miles) - 50.8 (that's more like normal) So why such disparity in the MPG between 32 and 44 / 50? Remember this was our FIRST FILLUP.. First- the miles as the tank was empty Next the lifetime info- And finally.. the gallons.. I was able to get 11.5 gallons in.. [/url]I do not yet own my car, so everything I say is based on what I have read, both on these forums and other reviews. From your statements, it sounds like you are giving Ford a pass, even if they knew they were gaming the system and their customers were not going to get anywhere near the car's rating. I can achieve and beat my Camry's ratings just about any day I want to. I don't always do it, because sometimes the hybrid games get old, but it's there to achieve (fairly easily). If the same is not true for the new Ford Fusion, then people have a legitimate gripe, and shame on Ford. I also disagree with the statement that we all knew this from the start. While there are many repeat hybrid buyers on these forums, the average joe does not participate on online forums and only has the EPA ratings to go by. I see MPGs all over the place, so I will have to wait until mine comes in to have a more solid opinion. But the jury is still out on the new Fusion. Yeah, yours is one of the ones that I think probably has an actual defect somewhere. Even when I let my guard down and just drive without thinking about mileage I am getting better mileage or at least similar mileage to your 2010. I wish you could have gotten satisfaction from Ford. From what I have been reading as well (should be getting my car this Saturday) is that 47MPG is possible, but you will have to have the perfect conditions to get it. I'm used to getting about 23-28MPG in my Mazda3, so if I can get 40MPG on average I will be fairly happy with the cars MPG. However, MPG was not the reason I bought this car.
