It's Magic VIN Friday!

Recommended Posts

Wow, so his window sticker showed up 2 days after the bar code data. My bar code said 1/14/10 and the window sticker didn't show up until 1/27/10. I wonder why that would be.

Does anyone have any idea how long it would be before the car leaves Mexico and arrives in Toronto Canada if it came off the line on Friday??? How long does it stay in Mexico and approx time to Toronto. Any info would be much appreciated.

When we were watching ours, the dealer told us that after it's assembled they will then wait until they have a full rail car before scheduling the move. So if you car was the last to fill a car, it could be soon. We ended up waiting about two weeks before it finally got to the dealer here in NJ.

I ordered with my dealer in early January but then they called me and said it would get built faster if they had a purchase agreement from me, so we had that sorted out mid-month. They got me the VIN and build date in late January (build date was the week of Feb 15th), but I was happy to see my window sticker show up this morning, and it looks like it was assembled yesterday. Looks like I should have it by the end of this month or early March, which is perfect since I'm hoping much of the major snow will be done when I get it.

This is for a sterling gray/charcoal black leather 502A + remote start and premium floormats. I may miss my Ranger a bit (and the 4x4 in snow), but I'm excited to have a more "luxury" ride, and get better than 17mpg. :)

What they forgot to do was provide a copy (fax) of your drivers license and purchase order to verification headquarters so the order could be scheduled. Ford uses this strategy to push "Real Retail" orders ahead of stock orders on several vehicle lines. You would have gotten your unit faster if they had done it the same day you ordered.

For anyone else thinking about ordering before the $850 Tax Credit runs out, get your order in the Ford system before 3/31/10 ----and ask them to get it verified ASAP. You will use your order date (committment to purchase) as your purchase date and the day you take delivery as the in-service date on the 8910 form in early 2011. BTW, the $1,000 incentive is available on the hybrids if you currently own a Toyota, Honda, and others.

They admitted that much to me. I wasn't too concerned. I'm friends with the salesman and he has sold me many cars (as well as many of my family members). Sometimes he's hard to get in touch with, but he always gives me a good deal and he's a great guy. As it is, I REALLY want the car but I also want some of the worst winter weather to clear. After the foot of snow we received the last two days (and driving through tons of unpacked snow yesterday) I'll sort of miss my Ranger, but not enough to keep it. Anyhow, it looks like they are running about a week ahead of schedule for Fusion assembly. Basically, it was less than a month from the verified purchase to getting the car assembled.

I ordered on Martin Luther King Day (1-18). The Dealer told me 6-8 weeks. They did copy my Wife's and my Drivers License. The salesman did call and leave a message the next day, that the order was confirmed (DORA or DARO something like that). I need to call the saleman for an update, to see if I can get a VIN. I have been watching and looking at the Window Stickers on cars, as they arrive at the DealerShip. I notice that it usually takes a month for the cars to get to the DealerShip, from Mexico. The cars are traveling about 3,500 miles and switching from Union Pacific to CSX railroad. I'm on the East Cost, (VA).

My FFH is slated to be delivered next week! :happy feet:

It took about a month from the order being put in until assembly, and then 3 weeks for delivery. Not bad. It has been a terribly snowy month, so I'm actually fine with not getting the car. Hopefully the warm spell next week will melt things off. Either way, I'm hoping to pick it up a week from today if all goes well. I'm quite excited. :headspin:

Well, there was clearly a delay. They missed the delivery date by a week. It came into the lot in Detroit on the 4th, but they didn't get it the last hour and a half to the dealership until this afternoon (by covered carrier, I hear). FINALLY, I get to head over there tomorrow to take delivery of my FFH! :headspin:

And I guess the wait was worth it in a way - all the snow is gone. :happy feet:

Ordered 502A Atlantis Green/Med L Stone interior/ premium and all weather floor mats on 2/3/10 with expectation of delivery in 8 to 12 weeks to the Detroit area.

DORA and Verification Program Approval 2/8/10

Was going to call tomorrow for a VIN check but received a call from dealer today telling me that vehicle arrived yesterday 3/17/10 on his day off.

Visited dealer and test drove this evening. Sticker date 2/26/10

Scrambling to line up financing to take delivery by next Tuesday. I hate the idea of the vehicle sitting on the dealers lot until then but glad its here.
