  1. 3.8 installed successfully first time, but not without surprises...... I decided to upgrade my Sync system today (from v3.7) even though I didn't really see anything advantageous in it for me in the description on the Sync Owner site (I have an Android phone). I DID have 3.8 show up as an available update for my 2014 FFH on the Sync page. After installing the update, the first thing I noticed was that both phones that I had paired with the Sync system were no longer there (a Samsung Galaxy S4 & an S5). I re-paired the S5 to the system. The second thing I noticed was that my Home Screen looked rather dark, so I went in to the display options to re-select my wallpaper, but all my wallpaper files had been deleted. I had to reinstall them from my USB stick on which I had originally saved them. The third thing I noticed was that my Navi no longer knew where it was. There was a message displayed on the screen to the effect that the car was on an unknown street and it would update as soon as it was located on a known street. I drove it to the Wal-Mart about 1-1/2 miles from the house, but the message never went away and I didn't see the Navi update its position. I'll play with it some more tomorrow Just thought some of you might like to hear of my experience so it doesn't happen to you as well. After all, I'm sure I"m not the only "Curious George" out there. :)
  2. I ran across this post and thought it might be helpful for anyone wanting to DIY a homelink unit the inexpensive way by buying only the unit itself on eBay for around 20 bucks and investing a little time. It's way cheaper than buying the whole visor assembly but a little more technical to install. I found these DIY instructions (with pictures) for a 2014 Fusion SE, but it should be the same for 2013 - 2016 Fusions. Enjoy! https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32767348/Adding%20Homelink%20to%20the%202014%20Ford%20Fusion.pdf
  3. I would have thought Nevada would have been closer to #1 than being #9. We have some really rude, terrible drivers here. The funny thing is, most everyone here in the Vegas area (the largest population in the state) is from somewhere else. Somehow, they have created their own driving style and reputation for it which, honestly, is well deserved!
  4. Mine's pretty boring too.......Tony, my first name, Hz, an abbreviation of a 9-letter last name, and NV for Nevada where I live. :)
  5. Jeff is correct. That is a station dependent function. Not all stations broadcast the song/artist information but your display is capable of displaying it if they do. That being said, if that info shows on the main radio display on your touchscreen, it should also show on the cluster screen. If not, touch base with our Ford IVT rep on this forum.
  6. Hey, Rick, which Costco do you go to when you come into town?
  7. I just tried the link in the original post to Out of My Touch site and it worked, but just in case, here's a copy of the zip file and a PDF of the instructions. Make sure you READ THEM and do exactly as it says. It works. I have done this a few times on my 2014 FFH and I keep the USB stick in the car. Good luck! delayed reboot app.pdf delayed_reboot.zip
  8. Hey security guy: thought about splash guards/mud flaps? They really do a great job of keeping the side of your car cleaner. They're easy to install yourself and it doesn't take long at all. They bolt/screw on and look good too. The best prices I found for the OEM product: Price Shipping Ford Part No. Splash Guards, Molded Front Group1AutoParts.com $38.84 $6.21 DS7Z-16A550-AA Splash Guards, Molded Rear Group1AutoParts.com $38.84 $6.22 DS7Z-16A550-CA The Ford MSRP is $49.99 (ea pair) + tax. You may find cheaper similar looking ones on eBay, but they're probably not the OEM product. Just sayin'! :)
  9. OK, how about a Nushield triple A (Anti-glare, Anti-fingerprint, Anti-microbial, or other) screen protector for your MFT screen? They are awesome and cost about $15 from Nushield.com. ☺
  10. Did you get your WeatherTech trunk/cargo area mat yet? ☺
  11. I got the Kagu rubber ones. They do have a carbon fiber like look to them. I live in Vegas, so a VERY dry climate. I don't worry much about rain & snow, but more about protecting the original carpet. If you're dealing with heavy rain or other types of precipitation, you'd probably be better off with the WeatherTechs. No chance of leaking onto the original carpet. BTW, WT also makes an excellent trunk/cargo area mat (that many of us have) that fits perfectly and looks great. About $100 with shipping from http://www.weathertech.com/ford/2015/fusion/cargo-liner/fusion-engine/hybrid/Congrats on your new ride!
  12. I bought my (Maxpider) mats on Amazon. I have a '14 FFH SE. I did not see any "non hybrid" notes in the description. They fit perfectly front & rear. Note that the driver's side is NOT waterproof due to the holes to accommodate the carpet pegs on the the floor. Love the way they fit and look. Get compliments on them all the time. A little pricey but worth IT IMO.
  13. Just thought I might be able to clear up a little confusion here. With metric sizes like this, the second number is the thread pitch, not the length. So these nuts are 12mm (or M12) major diameter with a thread every 1.5mm expressed as M12 x 1.5. A length is usually only specified in the size for bolts, screws and studs such as M12 x 1.5 x 30(mm). The stud that these nuts screw onto would be expressed that way. M12s actually come in 3 different pitches: 1.25 very fine thread, 1.5 fine thread, and 1.75 course thread. Our lugs are 1.5 fine thread. If you are familiar with the American Standard, this is akin to (for example) a bolt size of 1/4-20 x 2 which has a major diameter of 1/4" and 20 threads per inch with a length of 2". The nut size would be 1/4-20. The "length" of any nut would have to be in the physical description because it is not part of the size. Hope that helps.
  14. OK, GS, give me about 5 minutes.......... :)
  15. Just bought a brand new sealed one on eBay for $60 w/free shipping. Got my A5 last year for $50. Just sayin'.
  16. You should talk to Darkside. See what he did in this thread:http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9826-sony-amp-wiring-diagram/ I'm sure he could give you some ideas.
  17. Even though this is an older thread, I just wanted to clear up a misunderstanding in the above post. In CARB states, the HVB is only warrantied for 10 yrs/150K miles for vehicles certified for sale in CA as AT PZEV on the emissions label under the hood. As of this date, that would only be the C-Max Energi and Fusion Energi. State law does NOT require this warranty. The warranty is provided by Ford in order to certify a vehicle as an AT PZEV in CARB states. There are other requirements as well. If you own a hybrid, look under your hood for the emissions label and you will see that your car is certified as a ULEV or SULEV, not an AT PZEV, and therefore you get the standard 8 yr/100K mile warranty. Read your warranty guide. Only the C-Max Energi and Fusion Energi get the better warranty. They also get 15 yr/150K mile warranty to pass smog checks. There's a whole topic area here: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9843-carb-emission-warranty-coverage
  18. I dunno..... I guess I'm one of those "whole experience" guys. I like the styling/looks, the comfort, the technology & toys, the fuel efficiency, the acceptable Highway performance, the reasonable price, available options & aftermarket accessories, the quiet cabin, and the generous hybrid specific component warranty & availability of an affordable ESP. As you will all agree, the car is not perfect, but for me at least, it's close and will only get better with time. All of these reasons combined are why I would buy another one once the technology advances a little more in 2 or 3 years. Looking forward to Sync 3, Android Auto, and whatever improvements Ford makes in the hybrid technology itself. The new Malibu hybrid looks pretty nice too though, so I may have to take a look at it as well. We'll see when the time comes, but for now I love my FFH! It pays me back every time I drive it. I enjoy it that much!
  19. Yeah, Steve, some of us still do! I, however usually only make MP3 CDs when I make them and I usually copy what I want onto them from my iTunes library. I run them through a program called "MP3Tag" to make sure all the info is consistent and correct before burning. If not, I edit it first. If you don't use the max frequency depth when importing into iTunes, the files can be small enough to get about 100 songs on a regular 700MB CD. You could copy a whole lot more to a USB drive though. I have my whole jazz library on 2 64GB USB drives and have others with other types of music. On a long road trip you want choices. For short trips or around town CDs of favorites are OK. I guess that's why you can still buy them. Oh, and just because you don't have an iPod doesn't mean you can't use iTunes to organize your music. Just set iTunes to import your CDs as MP3 instead of the Apple format (m4a I think). Then you can copy whole folders to USB or CD. When you copy them to a temp folder to burn, make sure that you have a folder for each artist with each of his/her albums in a separate folder below their name folder. MFT likes this and will display all the info and allow you to browse by artist, album, genre, etc.
  20. A few years ago I had an almost new GE freezer quit on me and it was replaced under warranty. The warranty also got me a check for like $300 for the spoiled food. That was an American company though. Maybe LG has something similar? Might be worth checking into.
  21. Well, GrySql, looks like that new battery (p/n -A) we were curious about is starting to show up in dealerships!
  22. Oh well, it works, right? That's really all that matters. Enjoy your portable satellite radio! ☺
  23. Well, now I'm a bit confused myself. It has also been a while since I last tried using the A/V input with my iPod, and I swear the screen was blank except for the input buttons. It may have been before I updated Sync to 3.7, I don't know. Anyway, what I got tonight is the screen shown in the pic below. As you can see, it's not blank, but still not a very pretty screen to look at. You can however, switch to any other quadrant and/or your home screen and you won't have to look at it. So now, I take back everything else I said and I apologize if I created any confusion. Looks like I'm the one who's confused! :gaah:
  24. OK, I'll try it again tonight after work & see what it does. You sure you had the "A/V" input selected? The screen works normally until you select A/V.
  25. Murphy, did you select the correct input and put the car in Drive? It will work in Park.
