  1. Bronze Fire with Terracotta! Nice combination and was my second choice! ;) I just got mine this past Tuesday ... Tuxedo Black and Terracotta. All sorts of nice things I'm still working with. There's a lot of good info here ... I particularly like the info on adding a donut spare (I followed the 16" instructions) and the factoid thread. One surprise was the cupholders in the door having a slight tilt toward the interior ... nice touch.
  2. Welp ... there's a boatload of comments as to why I should run DRL. Noted and I shall adjust my thinking. Points were raised I had not considered so consider me corrected! :worship: I am really loving this car more and more as I play with things. Setting the center stack to the car status display is quite a nice graphic way of seeing where power is being used, etc. The easy in/out is WAY nicer than any car I've had! I can't tell you how many times I've banged a shin or kneecap on the door dogleg! Thanks for the comments, folks ... and all the research on spares and everything. I learned tons and am still doing so! :happy feet:
  3. Crazy first fill up ... 459.3 miles ... 42.2 MPG. That's almost a rival to the best highway I ever got in a Fiesta. This represents about 45/55 city/highway. Me like ... a LOT!
  4. Headlights ON or on AUTO? I've not tried the ON position and I would assume that eventually they would probably go out - or drain the battery. In AUTO, they only come on when it is dark enough to trigger the sensor or the wipers are on in at least the intermittent setting. Because I disabled the DRL in settings, I flip the headlights ON after the car is started and running. A bit archaic, but to me a more effective warning system than the rear end weakness of DRL.
  5. See ... this is what I cautioned against. On the Fiesta the headlights are hooked in but the climate control (if equipped with the Comfort Package) gets direction from elsewhere. So for FFH, PlastiDip on the sensor is a sucky idea! <shrug>
  6. I've used PlastiDip on the Fiesta grilles. What I found is that although the black 'Dip looks pretty good, the location that gets dipped might gray out after some exposure to the elements. It starts out black, but lightens up to a dark grayish color. One good use for it though - and you really need to be careful with this. The little light sensor on the dashboard ... if nothing other than headlights will be affected by doing this ... small amount of PlastDip to cover it up. It fakes the sensor into thinking it's dark enough for using the headlights. Set the headlights to Auto and forget it. Apply directly on ... do not scuff the surface ... it can then be easily removed if you sell/trade the vehicle. Every time ignition is on, the lights will be on. DRL setting does NOT illuminate tail lights and in poor visibility, someone coming up from the rear may not see you until too late. This cures that issue. EDIT IN: I do not plan on doing this on the FFH. I simply disabled the DRL in the settings. I have always turned headlights fully on at all times any way.
  7. I lied. Nytwing finally arrived about 2 Pm EDT Tuesday with 2 miles on the odometer. Since then I've put 308 miles on him (MPG shows as 41.1 on the screen), spent quality time with the manual and the screens, cleaned the MFT screen at least twice, did some "what does THIS do?" tests and generally experimented a lot. As recommended I do have the Empower screen display on. I would like to configure a MyView but I think I bolluxed it up and have no clue how to delete something out of it. Gotta look over the manual and screens again to find where to reset the trip meter(s) ... gonna need that in another 190 miles or so. <chuckle> Adaptive cruise is interesting ... it really puts on the brake pressure if needed. :shift: Impressive. This was one of the "what's this do" things - with a friend in their car. This is the largest car I've had since 2002 when a Neon was added to the Dodge Dynasty LE that was in the drive. When the Dynasty finally died, it was Neon to Fiestas ... until now. So it's Fiesta and FFH in the drive. Coming up this Saturday ... since I have no appropriate work area to do all this, my local Goodyear shop and I are having some bonding time! When we get done there should be: 1. a donut spare (following the 16" donut 'recipe' thead!!) 2. some Summer rims running the OEM tread ... go to TireRack and look up the Verde Regency. Black with machined lip. 3. installation of strut tower brace, hood struts and rear sway bar from Steeda. Although the fitment data on their pages may not specify MY 15 (or Hybrid), the sales person assured me they will fit. 4. Some rattle-can metallic black Duplicolor and judicious masking should do the trick on blacking out the grille bars. The rim will remain chrome ... sorta like the machine lip on the wheels. This may have to wait for slightly warmer temperatures. We're to be mid-50s ... just a tad cool for spray painting. The factory rims will be used as Winter items and I'll put snow tread on them as Winter approaches. So that's the last 48 hours or so in the life of a new FFH owner and his car. I am certain there will be more interesting times ahead! :happy feet:
  8. I just put in for "Male" so now there are 6 in that group.
  9. The same air dam is on all Fiesta models. Prior to 2014 model year, it was readily visible under the front end but design changes have hidden it better. Grill shutters/blockers or not ... it allegedly serves to drive air up across the radiator in addition to the direct shot coming through the grille.
  10. When I had one of my Fiestas at Genesee Valley Ford in Avon, NY for some work they were moving cars around on the lot and had a couple FFHs that would not start (probably the long term no-drive scenario). The guy tasked with moving and I were talking and it was the "how to jump start an FFH" notes that helped me tell him where to put the cables to get them started. My brother has a '12 FFH and just had to go through the above storage scenario when he didn't drive the car for some time due to weather in NC. He felt his Ram pickup would do better. So he learned the consequences the hard way on that. But it was just about the time the discussion on dead batteries was going on here and I relayed info to him on it. I still don't know if he's signed on here ... altho I've told him he should. And right now we're playing "button, button - who's got the button?" with my FFH. It's in transit, should have been here yesterday according to dealer and today according to Ford QA site. Where it is exactly is anyones guess ... but it ain't at the dealers. <sigh>
  11. A-a-a-n-n-n-d-d-d of course you returned the favor by requesting the same from her. Right? I mean, fair is fair after all.
  12. What about the damp wipes one would use for computer monitors? Are they also okay to use? I have a boatload of them and one more use would be helpful. I learned a long time ago to NOT spray any liquid onto anything electronic in any way. Amazing that some folks even today will not pause to do so anyway.
  13. On my '11 and '12 Fiestas I used Lombard Ford as each approached the end of bumper-to-bumper. They had the best price at the time. There is a quote process initially to give you a code that will allow you to see all the possible costs/deducions per plan. Surprisingly, they weren't "pushy" either! Will I get one on the FFH? Probably - and I'll get a price from the dealer as well as check out Lombard and Flood (as mentioned here). NY allows for ESP purchase like this, so I'm golden. <crosses fingers> Hope like heck it comes in next week! I already ordered all the stuff for the donut spare! <chuckle>
  14. Advanced SYNC Menu - two entries (pg 346 of owners manual PDF version): Factory Defaults - Return to the factory default settings. This selection does not erase your indexed information (phonebook, call history, text messages and paired devices). Master Reset - Completely erase all information stored on SYNC (phonebook, call history, text messages and paired devices) and return to the factory default settings. MyFord Touch - pg 383 of PDF OM: Master Reset - Select to restore factory defaults. This erases all personal settings and personal data. Did not find anything like the message supplied. The above was by simply searching the word "default" and looking at stuff that seemed to fit the question.
  15. As long as - when my car gets to me - I have the ability to have at least 1 trip meter AND the ability to reset it, the gallons used and other stuff will sort it out. I always calculate my MPG tank to tank off the sales receipt/pump. I worked in IT for 40+ years and learned one fact ... I don't trust computers.
  16. Haven't got a car to confirm with but according to the Owners Manual PDF I have it states Page 98 - regarding information displays. Nowhere else can I find any indication of how to reset trip data. Apparently the MyView info display is the only spot I see where you can show Trip 1 and/or 2 at all.
  17. Wishful thinking but as you say here, many makers are doing this ... so why not drop the price by $200-$400 to offset the wrecker bills that may be in the future, the added costs of valve stems and sensors and goodness knows what oddball expense. Simply because a 16" donut could not be placed in the car? And yeah ... for safey reasons I am sure due to HVB placement.
  18. <sarcasm directed at Ford> Why ... one uses the fix-a-flat per the instructions and the compressor as well. <end sarcasm> Check the owners manual and you should find instructions on repairs of your tire issue. However, should you suffer a sidewall blowout, you're SOL and will need a wrecker. UNLESS ... you do as some have done and replace that kit with a donut spare! the linked thread is one of a couple here ... with (to me) a nice touch of all the needed part numbers - and pics - for a 16" donut in the trunk. And yes ... this is my "Job 1" as soon as my FFH arrives. <mutters> In transit as of yesterday ... woohoo!
  19. <dopeslaps self> DUH! I completely forgot about that aspect. You're right. It's the remote start fault!
  20. Agreed on the reset point. I learned with the current stable to reset trip, computed (average) MPG and average MPH for better readings to guess-timate from. I also found that in the '14 models I have now, the computer is .5 to 3.8 MPG over what I calculate at fillup. My prior '11 and '12 were mostly UNDER by that amount. Remote start vs MPG: Usage will impact mileage for sure depending on how long the car sits idling, but if you do a lot of traffic lights, they will chew up MPG as fast or faster than the remote by itself. This is especially true if the red is a very long one. There is one particular light in town that I can see the MPG readout drop by .4 every time due to the length of the red. <mutters> FFH now waiting transport ... getting itchy to have it!!
  21. I can tell you from my Fiesta experiences that the car computer isn't anywhere as accurate as one would think. Figure your tank MPG from the gas receipt for best results. Also, as pointed out already the first few tanks will be whacked as the car "learns".
  22. A month ago Sunoco here was $2.27 for 87 octane. It's been going up but not 50 cents in one day ... it hit 2.59 and has dropped to 2.55 as of this morning. There is a Kwikfill in N. Syracuse that typically runs 10-15 cents/gallon cheaper so if I'm in that area I tank up there.
  23. Seeing that FFH and my current cars are made by the same company I am going to assume they work the same way when it comes to dash light/key position. Sooo, based on my Fiesta experiences, the answer is yes. However I'm sure one of the folks here can give specific FFH answer to that one. <mutters> wish they'd hurry up with my FFH! @#$%#$
  24. Eric, I'll be in your shoes in 2-3 weeks if all goes well. I've been reading a lot here and learning more than I ever thought I would! One of my plans is to get a true donut spare in the car to simply give a warm, fuzzy feeling I have **some** extra tread on a long trip and I get a blowout. In the meantime, I read and wait.
  25. Interesting ... one of the Fiesta guys races and has figured out the Fiesta top end is 115-119 area. I know I had my '12 to 105 on PA 220 once and the current '14 (Judy) up to 95 on I-77. Those little buggers get a mite light feeling in the front end >100. How does the Fusion handle? BTW ... got my window sticker outta one of the Ford sites today. Soon ... real soon.
