Hello! I've had my 2010 FFH since around 2014 and mileage is 130k. Recently, it has started making this loud humming sound when going over 25mph and increases in volume with the faster that I go. Originally we had no clue what this could be, so we did a couple tests and snooped around. There doesn't seem to be anything hanging loosely under the bottom of the car, the sound is not associated with rpms as we tested it parked and no hum happens, the exhaust also seems to be fine, the catalytic converter is still there, all fluids under the hood are good, we also put new tires on it less than 10k miles ago. We're thinking maybe, hopefully, it could be that the differential needs lubricant or the transmission needs fluid (we're unsure where exactly those are on the car though). We were also considering the possibility of cv joint needing to be replaced but there's no clicking and clanging and the hum isn't irritatingly loud all the time just at high speeds, it sounds more like its souped up and wants to be a racecar which would be cool but the car isn't supposed to be making that noise haha. We were also toying with the possibility of it just being the transmission, but no other warning signs or symptoms have popped up. Additionally, the car when it first started this morning started making a squealing noise. It lased for about a minute and a half as the engine kicked on and then went away after spinning for a while (maybe a belt). There was no squealing while driving and the hum was still present. It is possible that it was just cold and wet, but still a concerning sound nonetheless. Do you have any tips on what this could be, to help us narrow it down? Have you experienced anything similar, what did you have to repair, what was your ballpark number? Could the two sounds be related or possibly two different parts? The car is completely paid off at this point, but I've also invested into it more than it's probably worth at this point. I love this car and would prefer to fix it, but would I be better off looking for a new car based off of your experiences? Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated regarding this matter. Anyone know the top speed of this car? I don't see it anywhere in the manual or specs. I had mine up to 110 yesterday, went from cruising at 80 to 110 quite quickly! It felt like it could do WAY MORE than the spedo says. I wonder it there is something that limits your top speed also, since this car is one big computer. I would have pushed it more, but I had all the windows and the sun roof open and I didn't want to be distracted and close them up while speeding along.
