  1. Any time I've had a warranty I let the dealer do the work. Otherwise it's my problem or my mechanic ... unless it's something best suited to dealer. FFH HVB items are definitely in that latter category.
  2. Question: My Fiestas allegedly have a reserve of about 1/2 gallon to prevent fuel pump damage ... thus the gauge is calibrated for 12 gallons. Can I assume then that the Fusion has no reserve at all and one can actually run to totally empty? The reserve is probably the difference of the tank capacity versus gauge - and thus being a mental number. <shrug> I'm getting ready for the new car ... have been reading the PDF of the manual and have seen nothing yet discussing fuel this question. Thanks!
  3. As one who will have an FFH in a month or so, I can tell you one thing. Start reading! There's a boatload of tips and techniques here for almost any driving experience you want.
  4. You are a wicked, wicked person .... you know that? Tempting me with all those nice cookies. Possible FFH name: Nytwyng (pronounced Nightwing) ... done this way to avoid conflict from DC comics about their character.
  5. In a severe rear-end collision I can see that happening. Good thinking. Retro-spare location ... create a well in the trunk that would hold a donut vertically ... say on the right side. Jack, handle are stowed between donut and inside fender. Shades of the 40s and 50s autos. Shift the gas tank a bit left but we still might lose a gallon or so capacity. <shrug> We would certainly lose trunk capacity.
  6. And this would bother me how? <chuckle> I couldn't care less and plan on installation as soon as I can. So I'll be joining you in thumbing my nose at "whoever".
  7. Thanks to you all for this great resource! I'm just waiting until I get a delivery date then am getting all this stuff. I know it's allegedly going to mess with MPG but I'm willing to risk it for peace of mind.
  8. About that trade-in ... I mentioned before (here or FF ... not sure) that after about 600 miles or so in the Fiesta, the seats and ride got to me somewhat. I'm not noted for having a lot of padding "back there". But what really cinched it is the weird snowfall we've had (real fine, wet lake effect on top of already packed slick stuff) coupled with getting both cars stuck simply trying to get out - and in this morning. A larger car - we have used a Dodge Avenger to do it - would go far in creating a packed area for the Fiesta to get thru. Landlord tries to keep things clear (he's out there now) but sometimes one just cannot keep up. You have been warned, Meagan ... you will not get rid of me easily! :happy feet: Have not figured a name for it yet but am open to suggestions. <shrug>
  9. Thank you! I did not know that but was considering contacting a Ford dealer who is a Fiesta Forum sponsor for pricing when I was ready for it. But I think I'll use your suggestion first! :worship: Closest dealer to me is 12 miles away and where I am getting the FFH plus had purchased my first 2 Fiestas at. I'll see how they shape up!
  10. That remark may have been mine ... as I plan on getting a donut spare for the new car. It is not an ordered package but a shopping list of several components that make up the set. I'll most likely go through the dealer parts department if I go that route. My brother has a '12 (or '13 - can't recall) FFH and he priced the entire set of pieces at about $800 thru his dealer. Going the junkyard route might be less expensive and depending on your area taxes and whatnot may boost the amount. I'm retired but love to see the country (as much as I can) from behind the steering wheel. I can easily put on a lot of miles and I simply refuse to use fix-a-flat when better and more palatable options are out there.
  11. I agree with everything said so far. While my FFH has just been ordered, my experience with the Fiesta puddlejumpers I have is that I go the full 10K miles between changes as the manual states (10K miles or 1 year) since they are not heavy-duty vehicles. I've not had an oil loss issue nor has the oil been anything but clean looking when checked.
  12. @machoman ... I'm 5'10" but my son is 6'!" and we fit pretty well into the cars ... gotta adjust the seat. However legroom in the rear is epic fail unless riders are <5'6" or so. Judy was first purchase ... Ruby Red --> Ruby slippers --> Judy Garland --> Judy. I remember the old puppets so it became Punch and Judy. @TonyHzNV ... my salesman knows I come prepared (he sold me my Fiestas), so once we were sure of trade numbers and warranty info, one of the other sales guys tailored a concept (possible lot car??) to what I needed and they tied it into the order. They had it as a '15 but based on the timeline you quote it may well be a '16 when it's done. Hey ... either way it's a FFH and I'll still have 2 blue ovals in the drive. Ohhhhh ... And I can bug Meagan in two forums too! Mebbe twice the cookies? :salute:
  13. I wasn't really into something as small as a Fiesta either ... until I got one. Little buggers are actually pretty darn good - and one will remain in the driveway after the FFH arrives. I have consistently beat the MPG estimates on Fiestas from MY 2011 right into MY 2014 so I'm pretty confident the FFH will be topping them as well. You and I should talk about Fiesta offline ... I may be able to surprise you on some things. <shrug>
  14. Meagan? Look out kiddo! I'm gonna be pestering you here more than I have already! Okay ordered the following: Fusion Hybrid Titanium Tuxedo Balck Adaptive Cruise Terracotta Interior Heated/cooled seats (versus standard heated) Heated steering wheel I skipped the Driver Assist Pkg as I prefer the standard spotter mirrors (vs BLIS), don't even want the park assist (don't trust it) and lane keeping is not for me either for reasons already covered in other threads. Since I just ordered it today, I'm figuring perhaps early April before delivery. I traded in the Ruby Red Fiesta (see sig) and placed $10K on it to boot so very little is left to pay. Planned mods ... 1. I want a donut spare!! Yeah, it'll bork up the MPG some but I refuse to run thousands of miles on trips with a can of fix-a-flat! The shopping list is in here and I'll use it! Thank you folks for doing that! 1a. Perhaps some lighter rims from TireRack or someone where I can shed 4-6 pounds per corner could offset some of the MPG loss? Not sure how much the stock 10-spoke rims weigh, though. Anyone know? 2. Somewhere here recently I noted one of you had gotten Steeda strut tower brace and a rear sway bar. THAT is certainly on the list! I've had gas Fusion loaners and that ride and steering need improvement. Okay ... that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Oh ... Meagan? I'll still be in FF as Punch is still in the driveway!
  15. Some Fiesta owners have gone so far as to get a large piece of cloth and fasten velcro to it and the dash in critical spots. Then fasten the material down and the glare is gone. Easily detached and tossed into the washer for cleaning. May not look the best, but it works. Me? If it gets bad, clip on the shades and continue.
  16. I agree with you. Brother drive about 60 miles or so to/from work, so maybe that's why the muleage he reports? <shrug> As long as I can easily hit an average of 35 MPG or so with daily usage I'll be happy. Road runs I'll have to see but I definitely would like to see 40+. Again ... my driving style may defeat those wishes but I have been reading here a lot and believe I can make it happen.
  17. My brother has lane keep and he tells me that using turn signals when changing lanes will prevent lane keep from "yelling at you". My FFH will just not have this particular option on it ... potential problem avoided.
  18. I'll be replacing my red car (see sig) with a FFH soon. My nearest dealer has no hybrids on the lot but there are quite a few around town. They're good sellers in my area. Shame on Wards for going like they did ... I have consistently bettered the MPG on my cars (and the 2 prior Fiestas) for 4+ years now. My brother (in NC) has a Fusion Hybrid and loves it. It's his first Ford ever and his average MPG is about 50+ according to his latest emails ... daily use. This is his second Hybrid as the first was totaled by a texting driver that took out his left side ... airbag deployment and lots of debris as he slid thru a ditch. His remark? "Everything worked even when it was getting destroyed!" These are sturdy cars and well worth it in my opinion. Fiesta has been good to/for me but like you I find it's not a long distance comfy ride car.
  19. This is correct. I had to replace a key for one of my Fiestas and they needed to get the key code from Ford, order the key parts (yoke with laser-cut key) and remote then program it when I brought in the car.
  20. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on an FFH but I do have names for my Fiestas (see sig). Ruby Red ... ruby slippers in Wizard of Oz ... Judy Garland, thus Judy. Then I went with the old puppets - Punch and Judy to get the name for the Gray car. <shrug> My prior Fiestas were Phantom (Monterey Grey '11) and Cherri (Red Candy '12).
  21. Ya know Meagan, that comment is gonna cost you some cookies to keep my mouth shut **elsewhere** - where your presence has been for some time. I know a certain bloke in SE GA will be really miffed at that remark! ;) :)
  22. Cute! I see you're as sassy here as in FF! Nice to see you around though. To you and all here I hope you and yours have a good holiday.
  23. Understood and how long until the consumers find out that fix-a-flat that hardens around the bead can contribute to damaged rims - thus needing THEM replaced as well as the tire and sensors? Do you wish to possibly have to buy a new rim because your tire was "repaired" by fix-a-flat and the force required to dismount the tire also damaged the rim beyond usage? It has happened and I bet if you ask any mechanic who has dealt with this material, they will tell you there is high chance of rim damage. I am not the most knowledgeable consumer in the world, but I do know that the cost of ownership should NOT include the possibility of rims when a tire gets repaired! Seriously, that's just so not right.
  24. This is one of 5 reasons I put forth to Ford - thru CS and thru Social - for having a spare of some kind in the FFH. Social never published my stuff yet there was no prior article regarding lack of spares in FFH (and FFE?) autos. I was seriously heading for a FFH but the lack of a spare of any kind and having to scrounge up parts from all over to have one just puts me off Ford as a Hybrid choice. I refuse to do long-distance travel with only fix-a-flat and a compressor on-board. Anyone driving I-81, I-77 and I-26 goes thru quite a few construction zones where tires can be damaged. I see no good reason to not have a donut in the trunk. If the lack is due to EPA ratings that would fall, perhaps improvement on the motive power is warranted instead of jeopardizing drivers. I hope Ford CS sees this thread and your note especially. Meanwhile, I shall climb off my soapbox and continue with the little Fiestas I have - at least they have donut spares.
  25. That looks like the Fiesta Green Envy color ... not one I really care for, though.
