Photo of New 2016 Gas SE Black 5-spoke Wheel
hybridbear replied to Hybrider's topic in Wheels & Tires
Do you have a pic of how it looks on your FFH? -
That one looks very nice. Like lolder said, 2012 should be a good year because Ford had 3 years to work out the bugs of that powertrain.

I hope I don't ever have to test this feature out!

Tire Review: Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus
hybridbear replied to Christopher Ngo's topic in Wheels & Tires
Thanks for the nice review. It's good to hear what others have tried and tested. -
What did you drive before getting your FFH?
hybridbear replied to hybridbear's topic in Competing Products
With so many new members I'd be curious for more to comment about what cars they drove previously. I'd also be curious to see more people answer the poll questions.- 119 replies

Satellite Radio Demo Period
hybridbear replied to murphy's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
So sad that this free period is over. It still worked yesterday, but now today it isn't working. -
GrySql posted the full info about this recall here: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9347-recalls-csps-and-outstanding-field-service-actions-fsas/?p=97699 I seem to recall a few owners who had the fuel pump recall done reported reduced MPGs after this repair. Perhaps this explains why...

Road Trip Observations with Torque Pro
hybridbear replied to hybridbear's topic in General Discussion
Yesterday we did a 150 mile one-way drive which allowed me to gather some more data. Ambient temps were in the 60s and we didn't use A/C, just vent with the sunroof also vented for more airflow. We got about 54 MPGe on the trip. The TFT temp peaked at 179 F after about 1.5 hours and then began dropping. It stabilized at about 170-172 F after about 2 hours and stayed there for the final hour of the drive. The traction motor coil temp was the hottest part of the electric motor/eCVT components. Its temp peaked at about 210 F. The traction motor coil seems to get the hottest when we drive in EV mode on the highway to use up our EV range. The coil temp got up to about 185-190 F before we drove the final 15+ miles in all EV mode to use up the HVB charge. The coolant temp was mostly around 190-195 F. On occasions the coolant temp would go up above 195 F to 197-199. When the coolant temp went above 195 F the grille shutters would begin to open. At 195 F they usually showed 0% open, at 197-199 F they would show 8-25% open.- 56 replies

Instead of installing grille covers to raise the coolant temp to get the grille shutters to open you could just turn on the A/C. Turning on air conditioning causes the shutters to open which will cool the eCVT and will drop the ICE coolant from around 190-195 F to around 180 F in the summer with no grille blocking.

2015 Hybrid Titanium - Emergency Vehicle Installation

Nope, those are the terminals to connect a 12V battery charger or for use when jump starting. Check out this post for more info. -
2015 Hybrid Titanium - Emergency Vehicle Installation
hybridbear replied to wdfd908's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Welcome! Inside the glovebox? On top of the battery shelf in the trunk? Inside the space where the spare tire would be if the car had one? Haven't removed it, don't know What two 12V batteries? Did Ford change something? The 2013-2014 only has 1 12V battery Isn't there something in the trunk to provide a ground right near the battery? -
Got the dreaded "Washer Fluid Level LOW" message
hybridbear replied to mwr's topic in General Discussion
Good point. This is not an issue if you use Zaino though. Zaino even suggests washing the car with Dawn before applying Zaino to strip wax and other potential contaminants off the paint. -
iTunes uses Gracenote to figure out CD info. Gracenote looks at the number of tracks, their length & their order to figure out the CD info. That's how iTunes knows the track names when it imports the CD. If you burn a CD from iTunes you can write the track names on there. We haven't put a CD on the Fusion in a couple years but I believe the MFT screen will show the track info burned from iTunes. CDs we've borrowed from the library & ones we own don't show data on the MFT screen in the Focus Electric, we haven't tried them in the Fusion.

I've bumped it a few times too...

Got the dreaded "Washer Fluid Level LOW" message
hybridbear replied to mwr's topic in General Discussion
Does the Dawn leave any streaks? I'll sometimes just use tap water in the summer. -
Who is "they all"? The 2013+ FFH has never had a fuel button. The 2013+ Energi has always had a fuel button because it has a different fuel tank since it can go months without using much gas. There is one OM for both the FFH & FFE and thus the OM shows the fuel button that the FFE has.

The eCVT temps are hotter after hours of continuous highway driving versus city driving. City driving doesn't raise the eCVT temp very fast. We've done lots of city driving in the Energi and the TFT barely reaches 100 F in city driving even after 20-30 miles of continuous driving. In freeway driving it reaches its peak after at least an hour of driving. Our peak has typically been around 170 F with all grille blocking removed in the summer. In the winter it stayed cooler even with full grille blocking. In the winter the eCVT temp struggled to reach 140-150 F. The hottest TFT temps (and hottest motor/generator temps) were when descending down out of the mountains in EV mode for long stretches with lots of regen. Extended regen braking seems to generate the most heat of any type of driving. The Energi can do much more EV driving and thus has an auxiliary TFT pump which runs when the ICE is off. Even with the TFT constantly circulating we saw the TFT go over 200 F when descending down out of the mountains and regenerating more than 3 kW into the HVB.

Got the dreaded "Washer Fluid Level LOW" message
hybridbear replied to mwr's topic in General Discussion
Washer fluid is washer fluid. Buy the cheapest stuff and move on... The bigger question is: the 2014 has a light on the dash which tells you that your washer fluid is low? The 2013 doesn't, it just lets you run out of fluid. Our Focus Electric tells us when the fluid level is low. -
The Fusion Hybrid has never had a fuel button. Only the Energi has the button described in the OM.

I hoped that maybe this would be fixed in a newer FCIM calibration. Sadly this doesn't appear to be true. We had a new FCIM installed & this issue still exists.
