  1. Check tire wear and see if they are even, has an alignment been done? It's possible the alignment is off, and that can affect MPG.
  2. When you start to have a conversation with yourself, then you know you have gone...Squirrel!
  3. Yep Been there, STILL doing that. Have an LG refrigerator that has been out of service going on 6 weeks now. Phone jockey parts swapper has been out 3 times, threw a new compressor in on the second visit, which did not fix it, was out a third time, burned up 4 hours of my wife's time she will not get paid for, and still not fixed, throwing more parts at it, we think, they aren't calling us back. Yes I did. However, those of us who are very adept at brake scores would be the only ones who would notice the problems, the average driver would most likely not notice the difference in braking, though the surge while turning they might notice if they go fast enough through a turn. Yep, turned everything I could off. Heres the thing, no codes, not even with their fancy computer hooked up, so Ford hotline wont do anything for them. Grysql had a thought that it might be the RCM, since there is a recall on it, and does tie into these systems, so I talked to the tech, who checked and unless it throws a code, they wont replace it. Bottom line I am fed up with these cars being so damned complex that you need an electrical engineer with a boatload of tools and stuff to diagnose, and that the average mechanic does not have access to, that I gave up. This plus due to an arthritic condition that makes it very painful to be in the car for anything more than 30 minutes I decided to trade it in on something I can drive long periods without having extreme pain. I'm also tired of the hybrid game, been doing it for 8 years now, which was OK when I had a lot of city driving, but now my daily drive is 90% highway, which defeats the purpose of the Hybrid. I tried to get a Flex to replace it, but couldn't find one I could afford, but ran across a very sweet deal on a truck, so after tomorrow the Fusion will be gone. I wanted to keep the Fusion, let my wife drive it, but financially I just could not swing it, so it had to be the sacrifice. Taking it down to two vehicles, which should make it easier in the long run, one less car to plate and insure, and we need a truck for projects and horses, that and I have not found a car I can drive for any length of time except a Taurus, and since one of those gets about the same MPG as the truck, made the decision even easier. If it weren't for the fact I just cant sit in the car for very long I would just keep after Ford to get the car fixed, but I found that the pain after getting home was affecting more than just me, as I was crabby and little things were setting me off. I love the Fusion, probably one of the best cars ford has ever made, and it pains me to get rid of it, but it pained me more physically to drive it. It got to the point that I don't want to drive it anymore. In fact I have been home 3 hours and my left leg is still throbbing from the hip down. Meagan, thanks for the assist on this, it was worth a shot at least.
  4. I would be more than happy to give some! LOL :) :happy feet: :bliss:
  5. less than a month for my 2 year anniversary, 45700 miles as of today.
  6. I am also switching dealers, giving the one near my work a try to see if they are any better service wise.
  7. Oh they must have followed the Prius design guide then. Maybe an Avalon then? Its the only other one out there that can hold a candle to what Fusion has to offer, and from what I can tell doesn't look like a Cylon.
  8. Hell no, I like the car as it is, will be much easier to just swap out the drivers seat, which I may do if they can fix the braking problem. If they can't fix it, then it will be my last Ford. Have to look around to see if any of the Chevy dealers near me have a Volt.
  9. Thats good. It is too bad they didnt continue to use the drivetrain in the 13 models, those MY FFH were bullet proof.
  10. Yeah, that is exactly the issue here. I was told that they would get a high level tech, hybrid specialist out to look at it, and was told today Ford doesn't have such a person. That is so reassuring, NOT. There is a software glitch in the car, somewhere. I discovered today that when the regen braking is lax, that if I shut the car off and restart it, the braking returned to normal. That explains why it is so hit and miss, when they work right, they usually work that way until I turn it off. The surge while turning has to be some sensor that is cutting out the regen briefly. Without a code though, these guys are helpless. The car needs a data logger to record everything, thats the only way they are going to find this problem, hopefully before something bad happens. I fear though it will follow the same path as the last one, a clear in your face issue, but since no codes, no problem found.
  11. I wont look the other way. If they can't fix mine, I'll check it out.
  12. Hope you have better luck! :)
  13. well, not as well as I had hoped for. Apparently a braking issue is not high enough on the list to have a specialist come out to work on it, only thing that was suggested is to get a second opinion, so I have an appointment setup at Alphorn for Thursday. Well if it turns out that they come to the same conclusion, and I am stuck with a car with faulty brakes, its going away and I will just move on to something else. Frankly between the dealer screwing me on other things, and this I am fed up with Ford right now. Ford gets one last chance on this, then if not resolved, no more ford for me.
  14. SOP to backflush a trans cooler when replacing the transmission. If there is an issue in the trans that causes metal to grind up, it could be fine enough to clog the filter, but not be detected in the fluid itself. Over 95K miles this is quite a possibility.
  15. What you need to decide on in order to go with an ESP or not, are you going to keep the car for the term of the ESP or not. In my case I roll through cars until I find the perfect one. When I find that perfect one, then I get an ESP on it. On my HyTi I decided from the start to ESP it for 125K miles, I planned to keep it a long time, well past 125K miles. Hoping I dont need it, but glad I have it in case I do. It's an insurance policy, nothing more, sometimes they pay off, most times they don't. Your car insurance is the same thing, there when you need it, hope you never ever do. Same with GAP insurance, hope you never ever need it, but oh so glad to have it when you do.
  16. I know the feeling. Because of some back issues, I can no longer drive mine for more than 20 minutes now, and have to get something I can drive for an hour and a half each way. I do not want to give up my Fusion though as some day my back problems will be solved and I can drive it again. Yeah I may have some issues with it, but it is still one of the best looking cars on the road and I love to drive it.
  17. If you have the AC on full blast, that will kill MPG. There are some threads here that describe ways to work around the AC drain and improve MPG in hot climates.
  18. So were your grill covers removed prior to your visit, or were you still using them?
  19. Man, you have a lot of catching up to do, I have 45500 on mine and climbing! LOL
  20. Man wish I could do that! LOL Might be able to do that with my truck though, out here, trucks rule, cars get knocked in the ditch.
  21. 5 MPH is the best speed to get the maximum MPG, I think that's what the average speed of two feet one after the other does. Just ask Forest Gump. When I had the 2010, highway driving always did very well, one trip netted me 65 MPG with me doing about 62 MPH the entire trip, which was 85 miles. It was all interstate driving. Anywhere between 60 and 65 seems to be the sweet spot for the 10-12 FFH. The ICE in it is very efficient at highway speeds, as can be seen in the 13+ Fusion with the nearly same 2.5. Only difference is the cycle, Atkinson in the FFH, Otto(?) in the non hybrid. They get in the 30's on the Interstate. If Ford would put the 2.5 in the Titanium, it would be an awesome car for those who drive a lot of highway and are not the Green Wackos like us FFH'rs. LOL
