2017 Fusion Article/Spy Photos
Hybrider replied to TonyHzNV's topic in Lounge - Off Topic Discussion
All of the Ford vehicles are gradually starting to look more and more like the 2013-2015 Fusions. :love_shower: -
I'm sure it is up to the individual's preferences, but I prefer the 2-piece sunshades which, when ready to store, can be placed on top of each other and then folded up into a circle. They are very easy for me to put in and take back down by myself, and they store easily between the passenger seat and the console. The brand I usually purchase is "Auto Expressions Magic Shade (collapsible) sunshade", which seems to be owned by Kraco, and are conveniently found at Walmarts, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, etc. The size that works good for me in my FFH is the Jumbo size. I have not had the chance to try the Super Jumbo size to see how well it fits the FFH. These are the three sizes they come in: STANDARD: Each panel is 25 x 28 inches / 63.5 x 71 cm JUMBO: Each panel is 28 x 31 inches / 71 x 79 cm SUPER JUMBO: Each panel is 31 x 38 inches / 79 x 96.5 cm

My '04 Buick Century had the same low-hanging air dam underneath, and between that car and my FFH, they have trained me to not pull all the way up to the curbs. Fortunately, the lines on the parking spots are long enough that my FFH does not jut out past those lines even if I don't pull all the way into the parking spot.

I tried that new tracking webpage as well, and was successful only with VINs for pickups. But then again I only tried a handful of VINs, which included at least 1 Fusion and 1 Mustang. However, it did not show the scheduled build date for the one VIN I was comparing to what was posted by cyberdman in his tracking topic area on BOF. BUT, it is a whole lot more tracking info than the "nothing" that Ford provided before though.

The color that had the most dramatic color changes at different angles was the "Mystichrome" color which Ford put on some of the 2004 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury cars. http://wot.motortrend.com/color-shift-ford-mustang-color-popularity-over-the-decades-418865.html

New possible owner.......mega miles a year worth it?
Hybrider replied to hybridwannabe's topic in Welcome!
When I did do my one and only FFH test drive, before ordering the one that was exactly what I wanted, I did in fact do the WOT test on it, but that was only for about 5 seconds. But then for the rest of my test drive, I drove the the tester the way a hybrid is meant to be driven. I think the lowest mileage I have ever had on a special-order vehicle was 8 miles. But all the other vehicles I ordered had over 10 miles on them when I took delivery. BTW, the full sticker price for a Ruby Red SE with the only option being the moonroof is $29,105. -
I am using the Trip 2 gauge on my 2014 FFH as my Lifetime Summary replacement. After I reached 10,000 miles, I noticed the mileage rolled over on the Trip 2 gauge (pic below). It has been discussed previously in these FFH forums about the fact that the EV miles on the Trip 2 gauge rolls over really quickly, once it reaches 1,000 miles of EV. I will still be able to use the Trip 2 gauge for my Lifetime Summary, since the odometer at the bottom continues to show my total miles. If you were to add 10,000 to the 688.7 miles value shown in my pic, it adds up to 10,688.7. The odometer at the bottom of the pic shows 10691.2 miles, but that difference between my Trip 2 and the Odometer mileage (2.5 miles) has been there since day 1, when I picked up my FFH from my dealer, with only 10 miles on the odometer and the Trip 2 gauge was showing 7.5 miles at that time. It is possible the gallons on the Trip 2 gauge may roll over too eventually, but I am almost sure my MPGs on the Trip 2 gauge will never ever roll over. ;)

The Trip 1 gauge (example below) also shows the number of gallons used since it was reset, and also the amount of time the car has been turned on. So if you reset it when you fill up, it will show how many gallons have been used from that full tank so far.
-
Hi Ugachick, the Trip 1 gauge is actually what I have been leaving on my left display while I am driving to help me monitor how efficiently I have been driving, since it also displays the current MPGs. I reset the Trip 1 at each fill-up, and if I notice the MPGs continuously going down while I'm driving, it reminds me to let off on the accelerator. :) The MPG calculations on the Trip 1 gauge are much more responsive right after I fill-up than it is when closer to fill-up time, due to the number of miles being higher, therefore averaging more miles into the calculation. But that is another reason I like to fill-up at a half-tank, to keep the Trip 1 MPG gauge more responsive to my immediate driving behavior. Some FFH owners like to reset the "Avg Fuel Economy" value (the MPG value displayed in the middle of the Engage and Empower screens) every now and then for this same purpose, but I like to use that value as my Lifetime MPG Average display. I only moved to using the Trip 1 MPG value as my "MPG coach" once I had become very familiar with when and how the FFH switches between EV and ICE by using the Empower screen and then the Tach display on the MyView screen. Now I can almost tell you when the switch will occur between the EV and ICE and vice versa before it even happens. And now I can also feel when the ICE is running by the vibrations through the floorboard. There is no reserve tank in any of the stock FFHes. The reserve that is discussed in these forums is just the extra few gallons that are still in the one single tank once the gas gauge reaches "E" or even if the remaining miles shows "0", probably just like every other car you have ever driven. It seems Ford has modified the info that is given to us on the displays between the MY 2013 and the MY 2015 FFHes, probably in an attempt to make their customers feel better or at least not as upset about their particular FFH's fuel economy, and probably for other various reasons too. You will get the hang of all of the various screens soon enough. It is just that there seems like there are so many of them at first, that it does take some time to view and understand them all.

Another thing I've found is that the MPG calculations on the dash are based on more significant digits than what is shown on the Trip Summary. For example in my photo above, if I do the straight calculations based on the exact data shown, this is what I get: 25.7 / 0.36 = 71.4 (not the 70.7 which is shown in the Trip Summary above) BTW, my commute this morning was about 5°-10° lower than yesterday, around 45° when I arrived at work. So I had to keep turning on the defrosters momentarily every few minutes to keep my windows clear, so my Trip Summary for my commute this morning was only at 62.2 MPG. But I'll still take that.
-
Significantly broke my personal commute record this morning, with 70.7 MPG for the ~26 mile trip. It was on city streets and the temperature was about 55°. There was a slight decline in elevation involved, but even with my return commute home, going back up in elevation, being at a paltry 49 MPG ;) , my average for the 50 mile commute for the day is at a hefty 60 MPG!! :skateboard:

The main overriding reason I chose the SE version of the FFH over the S version was because the S version does not have the SiriusXM as an option. The secondary reason I chose the SE was so I could get the spoiler and the sporty wheels. It seems almost kind of silly now to have gotten the sportiest looking version of the FFH since I drive it like a granny, but it sure does look racy when it is parked. :arrive_alive: -
The moving LED lights looked to me like it should be indicating they were driving with their flashers on, like that would be what the blinker would do with that type of LED movement, somewhat similar to what the Mustang California Special blinkers (and some of the newer Mustangs) do with the sequential light movement.

As I was leaving work today, I was parked between a large BMW and a Mercedes crossover, and I realized I was not the least bit jealous about not having either of those cars. :spend:

You CAN use EV-only to accelerate from a dead stop in the FFH, you just have to accelerate very, very gradually. ;) -
It took me almost 10½ months and over 10,200 miles to achieve the vaunted goal of obtaining the 47.0 MPG lifetime average, but I enjoyed every minute of doing it. :love_shower: My lifetime calculated value at the pump is lower of course, at 45.5 MPG, but I fully expect the calculated value to reach the 47 mark eventually too. I have you fellow FFH forum members to thank for helping me get here. :hi5: Notice in the pic that there is 10 solid minutes of 60+ MPG on the Fuel History gauge that propelled me over the top yesterday.

What to call my new (used) FFH?
Hybrider replied to lsherlockl's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
Thinking of spaceships...When I was a teenager, I would roll down the windows in my '69 Galaxie 500 and crank up the song "2112" by Rush, and to me it made my car sound like a spaceship tooling down the road...still does too. -

Maybe you could name it something related to spaceships, some name that means something to you which is related to spaceships...Or maybe even just "Spaceship". ;) -

Maybe some of the discussion in this forum topic link below will give you some more ideas for a name. http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/7094-whats-your-ffh-personality/
