  1. Nothing listed near me. :-( --Edit-- What!? No sad or crying emoticon.
  2. I'm a purest, I'm trying for 600mi on what my car will let me put in and use. If I let it go to click and use the same pump each time, the pump and gallons used per trip match up pretty good typically. I'm running some experiments as to what happens if I go beyond the click to see how much of the extra fuel I'm able to use. My hunch is not much. I suspect that all I'm doing is pumping it into the vapor recovery of the pump. Last time I filled up I was at 6mi DTE and put in 11.5 gal, which was a few 1/10ths beyond the first click. Of that I had used 11.22 gal for this trip when I refilled at -2mi DTE and pump clicked at around 11.2-11.3 gal (can't remember exactly). That means by both the trip count and the pump count, there was at least 0.2 gal that just vanished.
  3. I copied my MP3 music library to an SD card and stuck that in FFH's SD card slot since I don't have voice activated navigation. By default, Windows Media Player rips CDs in the Artist/Album folder structure described above. Works really slick without having a long USB stick sticking up in the center console box.
  4. When they switched us over to 10% ethanol here in Maine, our 2006 Hyundai Elantra lost about 10% of its MPG. Prior to E10 I could get 40mpg from it under ideal conditions afterwords, I could never get better than 36mpg. The plugs also got fouled up more rapidly. I wish I could get a few tanks of non-E gas for my FFH to see what kind of an impact it would have.
  5. This makes total sense. I don't know that they would have to do an extended test, but I'm sure every car does have to have some sort of track test to make sure it is working correctly.
  6. I'm yielding a 2-3 mpg improvement in overall fuel economy. For the two full tanks since the update, I averaged 52.6mpg (1,166.1mi) while for the three tanks prior to the update I averaged 50.0mpg (1,582.7mi). This was under similar driving conditions (I commute around 300mi/week to work).
  7. I was under the impression that all cars went for a test lap at the factory. I picked up mine the day it arrived on the truck it had 4-8 miles on it (don't remember precisely now). Less than a mile was put on it at the dealership, just enough to get to the gas station to fill it up.
  8. How long did you keep it disconnected? One thing I wonder is how many of the FFH that under preform sat on sales lots for a while and had quite a number of test drives. My thought is that test drives may frequently be about testing performance and result in the computers "learning" some inefficient operating behaviors. Hard resetting the computers would cause them to forget bad habits.
  9. I got to 586.4mi today 11.22 Gal used. Was about 1 or 2 mi past zero miles remaining. Decided not to press my luck, plus, I was almost home. No sense starting next trip on an empty tank. My MPG was down a little because of heavy rains during my commute the past few days. Rain always cuts off several MPG, especially when I have to turn on the defogger.
  10. It would be brilliant if the hard reset turns out to be a cure for some of the low MPGs people are seeing with the FFH.
  11. The title of this thread is a pretty good description of how carefully I drive and pay attention to figure out the absolutely best way to coax extra EV time when not on cruise control. On my commute, I've also been figuring out when to force the car out of EV mode on my commute to use the HVB optimally.
  12. My average speed for my 47mi commute is about 50mph with a few miles of 25 - 35 mph. A section of 45 - 50 mph, one several mile section at 55mph and two long sections I drive at 63mph. For this commute my average MPG has increased by 2-3mpg. I was getting about 50-51mpg. Now I get around 53mpg and even got a 54.6mpg last week.
  13. I had the same sound right after my 10,000 mi service when they rotated my tires. By the time I got the car back to the dealer to do the half-shaft TSB, the sound had gone away. The dealer thought it might have been some dust causing a pad to stick slightly.
  14. Wow! With careful driving we could literally get the point where we might not ever need to change the brake pads even if we kept the car for nearly ten years.
  15. My dealer squished the underside of my passenger side body panel by missing the jacking point when lifting the car during a service. It was kind of annoying.
  16. This is why you need to add a Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator behind your grill.
  17. I had the same problem. The dealer had to replace the whole fuel filler assembly. After they replace, inspect for tool marks on the 1/4 panel to make sure they didn't dent the body panel trying pry out the assembly like my dealer did. Ford would have been better off giving us the same fuel door lever they put on the Energi.
  18. Oh I totally misread that, I thought he came up from behind you. You're saying he merged in late when there was not a safe place to merge. Drivers like this I'm sure are responsible for many accidents. This is another reason to appreciate adaptive cruise control.
  19. I hope the damage wasn't bad on your car. I really hate stupid drivers like this. They are just another example of how our highways won't become significantly safer until they can engineer the driver out of the equation. I wonder what percentage of accidents could be avoided if drivers just practiced a some defensive driving techniques (like keeping even a modest following distance).
  20. Just be careful that the car doesn't figure out what you are doing or you might be hearing "I'm sorry Dave but I can't allow you to do that."
  21. If mine kicked into EV+ mode even 200 yards earlier my ICE wouldn't kick in on the final hill before I get home. It is a raised bridge over the freeway and I have to go in regen braking mode on the other side so once I'm at the top of the bridge, I regen more power than I use for rest of the way home.
  22. I tend to average around 63 mpg when doing non-highway driving. Since I don't live in a major metropolitan area, I don't have long strings of badly timed traffic lights to force me to constantly start and stop.
  23. GrlSQL, you really dated yourself with that disclosure! ;-) But ya, people think when it's empty it is safer, when the opposite is true. It isn't the liquid that is dangerous, it's the fumes.
