How do you guys turn on the accessories graph, or are you referring to the scan gauge II data? -
Recall Notice FUEL DELIVERY MODULE REPLACEMENT
MaineFusion replied to Da0ne's topic in Recalls, SSMs & TSBs
Not surprising, I'm sure the the fumes rose out of the tank and it doesn't take much of them to leave a really strong odor. Probably have to air the car out for a couple of days. I find it interesting that my FFH hasn't been part of this recall yet. I haven't had any issues with the fuel delivery module, so maybe I got lucky on this one. -
I used to live in Virginia (different parts) and yes the terrain would be very similar. Just our bedrock is granite whereas yours is limestone. This means our rolling was created by long since past glaciers whereas yours was created by erosion and the collapse of ancient cave systems.
-
How do you get the climate and other gauges on the display?
-
Here in Maine we have mostly rolling terrain. I've found the spacing of this rolling along I-95, which I drive on my commute to work to be ideal for continual charge/discharge cycle of the FFH's HVB. On I-95 I set my max speed to 63 mph and I never drive over the speed limit. Also given our moderate summertime climate, I rarely need to turn on climate control. Not needing to run the AC tremendously helps my fuel economy.

I think we share this frustration. Fuel tank size was an important factor in my purchase decision. I didn't only want great fuel economy, I wanted long range as well. I really feel that if only 11.5 gal is usable, then advertising 13.5 gallons is false advertising. This is the first time I've every owned a car where I couldn't use close to the advertised capacity. Either Ford needs to fix the software issue that is keeping too much gas in reserve, or they need to make amends on this issue. I could only make the 600 mi club using extreme driving measures.
-
I am completely unable to use more than 11.5gal without going below zero DTE. Even this last time I filled up, I was at -8 DTE and the pump still kicked off at just below 11gal. I pushed in an extra 0.5 gal.
-
And while the 2013 tank is advertised at 13.5 gal two gallons is unusable. I posted a graph of my last tank of gas at: http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/4857-when-does-the-car-actually-run-out-of-gas/page-3?do=findComment&comment=66546

When Does the Car Actually Run Out of Gas?
MaineFusion replied to Buster1's topic in General Discussion
I graphed out my last tank of gas based on a photo log I took after most trips of any distance. Most of the first half of this tank was at speeds between 35 - 55 mph. The zig zag section of the segment MPG graph was caused by me driving to work on the Maine Turnpike vs sticking to secondary roads. The last two segments were a trip to Boston Logan Airport to pick someone up. The goal was to see how well the trip computer predicted distance to empty and to see if there were any obvious calibration errors due to the shape of the tank. From this graph I couldn't make a definitive determination due to changes in driving conditions causing big fluctuations in MPG. On my trip to Boston, my wife was with me, which added one extra passenger of weight from normal and on the way back, I added a second passenger plus luggage. All told the final segment (and worst MPG) had around 350 lbs of extra weight. It was late at night so traffic was very light even in Boston. We also had some pretty heavy rains around the 6.7 gal mark. The idea with the graph was that if I could keep a pretty consistent MPG. The DTE plus miles driven should result in a fairly flat top line if the fuel tank is properly calibrated for its odd shape. Overall. From the beginning to the end the DTE was off by about 64mi. About 10 - 15mi of this difference could be attributed to the the significant loss of MPG in the final two driving segments -

How did battery hard reset affect your MPG?
MaineFusion replied to MaineFusion's topic in Fuel Mileage
I just checked my door label and it says 35psi for my FFH SE. I'm running maybe 1/2 PSI over that. I wouldn't be against going one or two PSI above that, but I'm not sure I'd push any higher than that unless I knew it wouldn't cause excess tire wear. -
I finally made it to the 600mi club! For first 420 odd miles, I was averaging 57-58 MPG by mostly driving secondary roads (where I can typically average 63 MPG) and limiting Interstate highway driving. Last 200 mi was a round trip from Saco ME to Boston Logan Airport to pick up my mother-in-law. Got 51.2 MPG going down, but only got 47.9 coming back. On this type of driving, when by myself I get about 52 - 53 MPG, so adding one light passenger cut 1 MPG off trip. Coming back adding another passenger plus lots of luggage chopped of an additional 3 MPG. Interesting thing is that even though at last fill up I was at -2mi DTE and forced in 12 gal, I only got to use 11.53 gal and was at -8 mi DTE when I filled up this time. That means about 1/2 gal vanished. The first click on the pump was at 10.93 gal I kept going until I had put in 11.5 gal. I'll see how much gas I'm allowed to use this time before getting to 0 DTE. I suspect the missing 1/2 gal of gas went back up the fuel nozzle.

My Earth shattering kaboom! What? I can't hear you my ears are ringing from the Earth shattering kaboom!

A) I'd never buy tires from Costco B) There isn't one near me so it would still be inconvenient.

I couldn't get the video to play. Audio worked, but not video. Why can't people use a standard HTML5 format instead of some proprietary plugin. :rant2: :banghead: EDIT: Figured it out I was able to grab the video URL and play it out side of the webpage. I found the ad to be stupid and a rip off of other ads I've seen this past summer. Totally missed opportunity.

I did put nitrogen in the tires of one of my cars once. I loved how they didn't lose air pressure even over several months. Even at six months the tires had barely lost any pressure. The down side is to keep topping the tires off I would have to go to the place I bought my tires. I gave up on that after a while. If you don't drive a lot the fact that there would be no water or oxygen in the tires means there would be reduced dry rot on the inside of the tire, which could extend their life. Of course this will do nothing to help reduce dry rot on the outside of the tire. For $5/tire I'd put nitrogen in again, but I wish there was an easier way to top off the tires with nitrogen on a periodic basis.

On the TireRack website, the Continental PureContact with EcoPlus Technology seem to be getting pretty good reviews. However, on Consumer Reports website, reviewers seem to have constant complaints about tire wear, quality issues and reduced fuel economy. At the same time TireRack users have been pretty hard on the FFH's OE Michelin tires. I'd love some independent tests that would provide a more detailed analysis of fuel economy differences between tires. Consumer Reports colored circles are pretty vague on this. I've seen comments for both tires where people are saying they better performance by increasing tire pressures above what is recommended. I'd like to know how much impact this has on tire wear. At some point too much air pressure in the tires will cause them to wear really badly.

I finally tinted my Fusion!
MaineFusion replied to neod192's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
Would love to see pics of the pin striping! -
It also shifts a lot of extra weight to the rear wheels. The further that weight is behind the the rear wheels the more impact the weight has. Basically the rear wheels become a fulcrum of a lever.
-
I'd never haul my bikes off the back of a vehicle, too much risk of some stupid driver turning them into scrap metal. I much prefer roof mounted systems that are easy to put on and take off.
-
I didn't take my hands off the wheel, but I did loosen my grip so that I could distinctly tell if the car was steering on its own.
-
The first time lane keeping nudged me to the center of the lane I was like "did I really feel what I think I felt?" Then I tried to see what would happen if I drifted to the outside line on a curve and the car steered through the curve. I was like "whoa... that's cool!"
-
I tend to keep a light grip on the steering wheel by nature. I have full hold of it, just not tight. I also tend to rest my elbow on the window ledge of the door and my right leg. I don't think it is just a really light touch that triggers it because I can go days or weeks along my normal commute path without triggering an alert, but on other stretches of Interstate I can trigger them constantly. No difference in holding the wheel. I'm sure it has something to do with how the car "feels" vibration in the steering wheel, but however, it works, it isn't very good. I'd be tempted to turn it off if I could figure out how and if it didn't disable other systems. To really work such a concept would really need biometric sensors in the steering wheel, and/or use camera's that "study the driver's eyes like other systems do.
