  1. Michelin 'basic' 17" tires came w/ my Energi Titanium, WHITE vehicle. The performance is lousy and the stock rims don't look great. (My last car was a Lexus GS300 (I know, i know i know... it won't ever handle like that car). I'm looking for recommendations on a high performance tire and nice looking rims. #1- I bought this for the 'sticker' NOT for the gas mileage so please don't scold me for wanting to trade gas mileage for performance. I want the BEST handling, best performing tire. #2- Any pics of nice looking white Fusions with black rims or other nice looking 'sporty' rims? I'm thinking about Michelin Primacy 3.
  2. I can hear a slight sound that I would describe as metal on metal scraping coming from my rear wheels. By "slight" I mean I only hear it when I'm driving slowly, if EV mode, on a quite street with the windows down. Even then I only really notice it if the sound gets reflected off of a parked car or a building close to the road. Is this normal for a hybrid? I had the dealer look at it and they said it was fine when they test-drove it. I don't really trust the dealer that much yet.
  3. So I recently bought the gel overlays for the center caps of my wheels to match the overlays I have on the front and back of my 2013 FFH. You can see them on my stock 17" wheels here: However, I wanted to make these pop. With a little research and a photo posted in the galleries by a fellow member on this forum, I decided that I'd rather plasti dip my wheels than get a brand new set of wheels that aren't designed for hybrid use. The pictures I saw initially had people using black dip and either leaving it matte or putting glossifier over top. That looked really good on some exterior colors, but I wanted a little different on my Bordeaux Reserve. I went for an Anthracite Grey Metallic with a gloss finish. See the comparison between the dipped rim and the unmodified version: And the finished side view in a different light angle: And finally some closeups: I went for 4 coats of Anthracite Metallic dip and 3 coats of glossifier over that. It looks fantastic, adds virtually no weight to the wheels, and is completely removable and does not negatively affect the OEM wheels in any permanent way. So if at any point I get tired of it or want to change it, I just have to peel it off! I know this is easy to do because I screwed one wheel up and had to redo it. All four wheels took me maybe 3 hours to do, barring mistakes, tops. The question is how long will it hold up, but most people say they can get a couple years out of their dipped wheels. I ended up using 3 cans of Anthracite and about a can and a half of glossifier, all of which is bought from dipyourcar.com. They also have numerous instructional videos on their site if you're interested in doing it yourself, or just ask me and I'll share my experience!
  4. My tires with 23K on them have about had it, thumping like crazy(at least I think its the tires). The traction in snow is horrible, so looking to replace them with LRR tires and thinking of downsizing to 17's. I loved the rims on my Flex so have been looking for something similar. Wheels and Michelin Energy Savers mounted, balanced and TPMS, shipped, $1221. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/MiniWheelSearchServlet?share=true&nonWinter=true&partNum=MD17704BMF&autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Fusion&autoYear=2013&autoModClar=Hybrid&wIndex=92&grid=true&sw=1600&vehicleColorIndex=7 Tried to post the picture, but it shows stock wheels.
  5. Alright, newbie here, just got the 2013 Fusion se Hybrid couple weeks ago. Happy so far besides the color. I'm considering purchasing aftermarket wheels, so far I've read that I will likely loose some mpg. Mine came with the 17" wheels. The wheel I'd like to get starts at 18". There's my question. Has anyone done this? All I've read is people changing from factory 18" to factory 19" with minimal decrease in mpg. I only have 400 miles on car so far and have averaged 30mpg. I also "heard" there is a "brake-in" period, after which the mpg would increase, where's my 47 as advertised? Any truth to that? 30 is great, just wondering if it gets better, or the way I drive. My other Ford is an '05 F-350 powerstroke 6.0 diesel utility truck for work. After all the mods on that I've averaged 11mpg in town, highway, loaded, empty, whatever, 11mpg solid. If anyone has any experience or references on 17" to 18" wheel size change on this Hybrid and the effects, please share.

  8. Hello, 2010 Fusion Hybrid with almost 60k miles. When making a turn, I hear a grinding noise from the front wheel area. It's louder when turning the right (this may not matter to the diagnosis) but I hear it turning either way. It sounds like it could be rubber or metal grinding. It prominent at slow speeds, such as turning into a parking spot but still present at hire speeds such as making a turn on to a side street. It is faster and higher pitched with speed. I asked the dealer to look at it while they were rotating the tires but they said they didn't see any issue. I'm taking it in again, but I would be more than thankful if anyone has any thoughts on the issue.
