    MPG Happy Talk

I got 35.1 this morning. I guess my car is still "breaking in". Only 550 miles so far.
  2. Here are some pics of what I was talking about, from this morning's commute: Instant MPG over 40, battery "fully charged" and discharging. Instant MPG over 40, battery "fully charged" and still charging. This is after I got off the highway and stopped at the bottom of the ramp. The battery has a higher charge state than on the highway - yesterday it showed 100% full, but not today. Now, I don't know if the charge/efficiency state in the first 2 pics is achievable in the long run or not, but if it is I would be happy :) I'm looking forward to corncobs' report!
  3. That shouldn't be hard .. considering the top speed is 120 :)
  4. Go 65 mph or faster. It'll charge the battery, and rarely use it to drive the car. On the way to work this morning, I took the highway, the car was all warmed up, battery charged up and I was seeing 40-50 on the instant MPG gauge. Sadly, it was just about time to get off the highway ! I wanted to keep going. I have a long ramp so with regen brakes I ended up with a fully charged battery when I stopped at the light - yes, that little notch at the top was also blue. Unfortunately, I only got 34.1 on the trip :banghead:
  5. Hey, did you try to take out those scratches? Did it work? Mine already got scratched up and the dealer replaced it ... I have to put something on it to prevent scratches on the new one ... That Z-14 looks promising if you already have scratches, but what should I use to prevent them? Same thing?
  6. Congrats! Deep Impact Blue is a really nice color (I'm slightly partial to it) !!! Let us know if your original dealer gives you the deposit back (they don't have to). I don't have any issues with BLIS on mine and didn't read about anyone else having issues yet. Where are the pictures?? What options did you get, besides driver assist?
  7. Keep your hands off other people's Fusions :stop: None of this: :petting:
  8. That doesn't sound fun :( Sorry that you have to go through this.
  9. I don't hear this on my car yet (only 500 miles), but if it starts happening and they can't fix it after 4 attempts the Michigan lemon law kicks in: "A defective vehicle is one in which the same problem has not been repaired after four attempts, or a vehicle that is out of service 30 days or more for repairs. The first report of the defect must be made within one year from the date of delivery to the original purchaser or lessee or during the term of the manufacturer's warranty, whichever period is shorter."
  10. Nah, just stick with the FLEX. When your old Fusion starts to break down, get the new one (in '15-'16). By then it will have soooo many new features :)
  11. I took it in and they're going to try and fix it, but not yet. I want to drive my car, so I didn't leave it with them :) In 2-3 weeks I'll take it back along for fixing, along with any other things I might find. Here's a blury (sorry :( ) pic of the trip on the rear passenger door. You can see how it's sticking out:
  12. Sure, but you also lose half of your EV range :)
  13. I agree with you! They look very luxurious :-)
  14. See the order guides here: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/53508-2014-fusion-fusion-energi-order-guides/
  15. I just found 2 more things wrong with my car. The chrome trip (and plastic under it) on the passenger rear door sticks up and it really sharp. You could cut your hand if you close the door and accidentally slide your hand over it. Also on the outside of front windows, rear side - there's a rubber piece that's supposed to be flush to the plastic on the door. On both my front windows it starts flush, then it starts coming out as it gets closer to the top. It's better on the rear windows, but it still sticks out a little.
  16. They didn't sell it yet? I'm kind of surprised ...

I ran some errands at lunch today - 55-60F mostly city driving. This was the trip back, the 5 mile trip out was also 48-49 MPGs, but I didn't take a picture. I have no doubts this car was made to be driven in the city. not so much on the highway:
  18. I had the cruise control set and a timer on my phone. I deactivated CC and started the timer at the same time and watched the timer and speed as it slowed down. Pretty easy to do as long as there's light / no traffic and you can afford to be distracted for 5-10 seconds :)

My Fusion surprised me this morning. I got 39.x on my commute to work! I didn't baby the gas pedal as much, the roads are dry and it's sunny! When I got out of the car, I was thinking it must be warmer outside, so I checked and nope - it was 35F ... brrr Things seem to be improving as the car is breaking in. I have 480 miles on it now :)
  20. LOL, I looked at mine and what do you know ... The arrow up in there when I lift my foot off the gas pedal. It also seems to be coasting more now. I did some tests on the highway on the rented Fiesta and my Fusion and they both take just about as long to slow down. It's takes about 5 seconds go to from 65 mph to 60 or from 70 to 65. About 10 seconds from 70 to 60.
  21. Also, if you drive away without the keys, get somewhere and turn off the engine - you have 30 seconds or so to re-start the engine w/out the key and drive back to get your key. Didn't RTFM, but that's what my sales person sold me. I'm not willing to try it out!
