  1. Trick question! Financial was not on the table for the purchase of this vehicle. This is a very flexible vehicle which fits my situation very well. 'nuff said.
  2. There might be a dead ant in the sensor. Give it a spritz with the hose.
  3. A little 4.5 mile drive for me. To: temp 63, mpg 41 Fro: temp 85, mpg 48 (fro is down the little incline) Nice to have good mileage Spring Forth :hysterical: (windows open, climate control off)
  4. The OEM blade chattered from day one. I have gotten so sick of this passenger blade that I installed a Bosch ($21) this morning. I did not get a chance to fully exercise the wipers, but it was finally quiet when I did a squirt. So an OEM Ford on driver's side and Bosch on passenger's; at least both are black in color.
  5. In and out the door in 45 minutes. Switched dashboard back to Engage, regen symbol working again. No difference to feel of brakes.
  6. The driving is all surface street traffic, 10 miles round trip. I rarely get above 30 mph, which is fine by me given all the nut jobs roaming around with shopping carts collecting recycling.
  7. Yes, it is. My use of the vehicle is very predictable.
  8. I believe I am going to reach 200 hrs of operation before 5000 miles. Is there a way to call up the accumulated operation time on the dashboard? TIA
  9. This is how they are built. Some Ford trucks are similar. Take a walk around a mall parking lot; a certain number of cars will be constructed this way.
  10. Some observations now that the cold is here <10F I can let the ICE warm up. It modulates in idle sound, charging goes on and off, then a switch. I set cabin temp to 60F. This appears to turn the heat off, ICE comes to temperature rapidly. External temperature reading is updated continuously. Seems different than in the Summer. So, I wear a parka, gloves, hat when I get in in the morning. The commute is only 5 miles. 60F appears to turn the heat off and the ICE warms up about 1/4 into the trip. Once the temp. gauge hits mid-point I can turn up to 65 and there is lots of hot air, and it doesn't seem to affect engine temp or EV mode. This morning it was about 12F when I pulled into work parking lot. Parking in the sun with the sunroof shade open. External temp reading was 12F. After work, in the dark, I fire her up and external temp reads 26F; I don't think anyone took her out for a joy ride. 26F never budged. The outside temp was 26F.
  11. Passenger side bounces on the return stroke. These are the factory blades. This is very annoying. If I do a very careful cleaning of the windshield with Windex the bounce will go away for about 1 week.
  12. In case you wanted to know, sunspots are monitored here: http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/ The nit I have to pick with cold weather and the Fusion is cabin air recirculate on the climate control will turn itself off after a certain interval. When it is on, the cabin warms up pretty quick. It also has to be manually turned on each time I start the car. I guess they want me to have fresh air but really, the car computer knows how many people are sitting in the seats and I think that recirculate is cycling based on four people in the cabin. Just 2 cents worth...
  13. On page 249 of owner's manual, special fuel funnel, stored with spare tire, used in emergency to add fuel from portable fuel container. Say ahhh....
  14. I worry about this too. If you look around in a large parking lot there are a wide variety of vehicles, including some Ford trucks, with windows such as this, so nothing is missing.
  15. This FFH is my third new Ford (84 Escort, 97 Ranger, 2010 Fusion). If you can believe me, the battery in my Ranger lasted 11 years, which I think says a lot about how reliable Fords are. Ford will always remain competitive, will always be durable. I can't formulate an opinion about the reliability of the FFH; ask me after one year; but I certainly enjoy opening the door, getting into the seat, getting onto the road and driving somewhere.
  16. I chose here because of cable modem or fiber (it was just cable modem in the last Century). It turns out I could walk to work back then, then things changed and I had a 15 mile commute... things keep changing... I could walk to work again, then work was 5 miles away (which I walked once, 2-1/2 hours). So now I drive my FFH to work. I certainly pulse up small rises in the road. Lets face it, I have opened the hood once, so I am not the expert here, but I try to keep The Raven out of a mode where the ICE is spinning but not contributing power (isn't this the green bracket without the EV showing?)
  17. My commute is only a little longer and my average (which I have not reset once) is 34.4 MPG. I don't worry about it so much: a) If I want to go to the beach I know I'll be getting 45 MPG on the trip. B) I'll be filling the tank every two months rather than every two weeks. c) I am driving a lowemission vehicle.
  18. Yes, the external temperature reading is odd. This has to be some sort of Ford Corporate rubber stamp. The rubber stamp that gets my goat: you have to run the wipers in order to get a squirt. Didn't they ever think that my windshield was covered with ice and I wanted to squirt some deep blue de-icer without ripping my blades apart? In the past, they have fixed my wiper motors under warranty, because of this behavior... Also (drivin' a not a NAV) the little button LEDs are hard to see. Maybe I'm gettin' old...
  19. I don't think the economic argument is valid. Its all based on cost of opportunity. If you spend so much time on the road commuting from the house you lose all that time and all that gas money (and all that patience.) I live 4.5 miles from where I work, so my round trip is under 10 miles. This is why I have a FFH: 1. I want Ford to survive. Now I am adding to the fleet MPG. 2. I want to shake out their new technology. I will pester them until they get it right. 3. I don't want bicyclists flipping the bird at me anymore. 4. Hybrid is sexy, generates a nice buzz, turns heads. 5. The car was loaded with every hi-tech gizmo. 6. Solid, quiet, comfortable, flat in turns, gets on the highway = great car!
  20. I got mine last Thursday. They found the colors I wanted and got the car over night. 501A package. I am getting about 42 MPG highway without much effort. This car is awesome!
