  1. Actually some pretty decent explanation of the types. Did you see the section on using aerosol sealants? It reinforced my sentiment of getting a compact spare and avoiding use of the mobility kit.
  2. Only thing I would disagree with is source for the sensors. I got 2 of mine replaced at the local Goodyear. During research, it was found that Ford sensors are Schrader innards. Very common and used by Goodyear, TireRack and others. Only differences are the casings apparently ... altho to tell the truth I never looked closely. BUT - if you are at all hesitant, then by all means go the dealer route.
  3. Might want to look at this thread for '20 models versus '17. There were firmware changes that may not be to your liking.
  4. Based on current pricing between FFH and Energi, it'll be a good couple K more expensive than the hybrid sibling - if there was one. Meaning, your price just went up for the same vehicle essentially. SUC, CUV, XUV - call it what you might. It's still a damned station wagon.
  5. About a quarters thickness or slightly more. It just bothers me as I've tried to be very careful on insuring fluids are not above max fill.
  6. I usually don't look closely under the hood, but with the stay home stuff, I thought I'd see what's up. Found I needed washer fluid and did that ... then looked at coolant. The car was cold yet both engine and EV coolant tanks were somewhat above the max line. I've not messed with this on this car. Should I be concerned or just let it be? I still have a couple K miles before a service call.
  7. My '20 goes into regen mode as soon as I take my foot off the pedal. As I recall, both my '15 and '17 also did that. @billford - eco mode is immaterial in this as I've used both and regen activates when foot off the gas. FWIW, I'm still having issues with EV => ICE changeover. I have to toggle speed control to get EV working when it should.

    Hello!

If you look thru that SOC thread you'll see two part IDs for the firmware that have or do not have the display. According to info found, it appears the versions are not necessarily similar and if we want it, we should get an Energi. I think someone said Titanium trim does have it ... but I can't confirm that. The arrows weren't my fave either, but the display in general was good reference. I think you're right on the gas usage, because there is no distinct way to determine if the ICE should have relinquished control or not. I can tell you (my opinion) that between '15 and '17 they did change things that caused lower MPG somewhat. In my '15 I could hit mid- to -high-40 MPG with little problem with even some 50+ tanks. With the '17 it was a strain to get mid-40s. You will not necessarily SEE differences between the models, without being totally familiar with the firmware prior to '19 models - and the option groups/packages that may also have supplied stuff. Case in point - Park Assist. Added sensors lateral and front. Super helpful in close spots like at the ATM and getting close enough to not have to hang out the window to reach the machine. As I noted, this package was dropped for '19 - which then eliminated the nice adds. What ... too hard to leave the sensors and code in and simply null-op the park stuff? I was in IT for 40 years - programming, security, etc - I know it's easy to excise function without affecting secondary abilities.
  9. I was inserting a hyperlink into a message I composed. The link prompt came up as expected, I pasted the link, saved message. When I reviewed the message and tested the link, I got an error box that stated it could not properly work.

    Hello!

If you are concerned or wanting to know how charged the HVB is, then '19 and '20 models do not have it. The thread about SOC Display will lay out the issue. I also did a thread 110 Miles in a 20 FFH (or something like) that outlines differences between my prior '17 and current '20. Might also want to look thru that one. Personally, with what you describe and the little knowledge I have of the options/packages, I would go for the 18 - mainly for the state-of-charge display. Also, any model prior to '19 that has park assist will have added sensors in front and sides that are helpful in close spots. These were removed in '19 because Park Assist was dropped ... so they nicely removed the sensors as well. One last thing. Since at least 2015 models, there is no compact spare ... only a mobility kit (essentially fix-a-flat). I'm not sure if '13 models had a compact or not is why I mention this.

    Hello!

IMHO you'll do better with a 2017 or 2018. In 2019 they changed some of the firmware and items that are helpful to a driver were eliminated. Good luck!
  12. I got the bill for SIrius on my prior '17 FFH so I figured I'd change service to the '20. First question ... wheres the ESN that identified the radio to Sirius? Turns out it has changed and may not be visible in Settings ==> Sirius XM ==> Show Sirius Information. If it is blank, direct dial to channel 0 (zero). That ID is the new format ESN. If you watch carefully when you start the car, this ID will show for a second or so as things get started up. To leave station 0, just press one of the buttons on the Sirius station bar at the bottom of the screen. Gotta admit ... dropping the '17, adding the '20 and switching service around was really quite painless. I'm impressed. ADDED: Just a side note. Are you aware that on the new Sync Sirius screen you cannot change "bands" with buttons as you could prior to '19? Easy way is a small swipe left/right area next to the first station button. BUT - if you are on Sirius 1 band, only swipe left will work for Sirius 2. On 2 either direction works for 1 or 3. I just happened to stumble on this ... yeah, did NOT look in OM. Sue me.
  13. I am firm car person. I have driven an ICE Escape loaner, a Pacifica rental and other SUV-class vehicles. Intense dislike is what I feel when in them. The Escape was sluggish on the turbos kicking in and MPG was really worse than my old 2001 Neon when it had 130K miles!
  14. Do not let it sit for over 28-30 days without a startup. It takes that long for the car battery to get so low it will not start the car. My brother made that mistake ... boy was he embarrassed. I suggest starting within 3 weeks to be safe ... and make sure the HVB is as charged as can be. Have a contingency plan ready should you be delayed in returning.
  15. I wish it was like that here. <shakes head> Some really hard to see vehicles are out there.
  16. Ahhh. For some reason I had the impression Canada had implemented differently. I stand corrected.
  17. DRL on all US cars are configured like that. I think Canada might be different. TBH, when there's been situations where I felt it important to have rear lights, I moved the switch. <shrug>
  18. The sensor level to on/off the lights is preset and not adjustable that I know of.
  19. Yes. There is a 1 mile stretch of 55 MPH road between my place of residence and the city to the south of me. It is free of most bumps, potholes, etc and downhill enough for the HVB to become the primary motor. 8 out of 10 times it does not and I need to play with the cruise control to get the ICE to relinquish control. The entire mile (plus some) can be run at 55 on the HVB easily. ADDED: My prior '15 and '17 could both handle this area on HVB providing charge was high enough. That's why the SOC is important ... so I (at least) can be sure the HVB should run. Earlier on in this thread is a message post outlining the part numbers for firmware with and without the SOC. I believe one of the posters then went to Ford or a dealer and was told that we are essentially SOL. Ford just lost a customer. Even if they come back to producing cars for NA again, they will not have my business. They essentially told those of us who would like a sedan to go pound it, AND dumbed down a damn fine hybrid to boot. I'm just a bit p*ssed.
  20. DTE (distance to empty) changed in 2017 models to the range display. Soooo, your range is the same thing.
  21. Another oddity occurred today - album art. I do not include album art on any of the tunes in my collection. Today on a cruise, the tune popped up: "Haunted House" by Jumpin' Gene Simmons, who died in 2006. Album art on the car stack showed Gene Simmons of KISS fame. That's the first time album art was wonky. I've gotta find out what is causing all this crap and get a way to prevent it. My surmises are partially the indexing algorithm used combined with poor searching of Gracenote data or whatever.
  22. Mine is just behind the drivers passenger seat. It's the master cutoff for the HVB. Keep the cover on it and don't mess with it. I think the owners manual will have more explanation if you're curious.
  23. What Murphy sez ... I had a '15 then a '17 and now a '20. They all do it to some extent, as well as **sometimes** grabbing when wet or cold. Some heavy stopping should clear things.
  24. Those are pretty high price tags. Current 2020 price for an Energi is $35000 without haggling.
  25. I have a 128 GB thumb drive with the tunes i have (about 2100 or so) and i gets refreshed every so often as I tweak things. Tweaks are newly added tunes, corrected spellings in tags, amplitude adjustments (via Audacity). Sooo all the silliness here is from a thumb drive.
