  1. Normally I would agree with you and do it. However, I don't have the spare room to store the cartons I know will be coming ... and I shouldn't expect Goodyear (they'll be using the Tirerack and Steeda stuff) to do so for possibly a 2 week period if the April 19th date is correct. Also, knowing which of the 2 dates is correct I CAN get the Ford order in and have it arrive so I can stuff it in the trunk of the new car. It's a matter of timing ... and it depends on the date. Sorry, I'm sort of a**l on this one, I guess. There's $1600 - $2300 worth of upgrades/changes I want to do and I'd like to get most if not all done before my road trips around the country. <shrug>
  2. I've used Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover ... works decently enough. Removes tree sap too! Only thing is it is petroleum based and you do need to rinse off after working the area.
  3. Yup! <puts on the sunglasses> One can get blinded quite easily.
  4. Dealer report states week of 4/6 for delivery as of last Thursday. The cotus site states April 19 ... that's why I'm concerned. I have parts to get from Steeda, Ford and Tirerack with delivery times I'd like to have happen at delivery ... or a day or 2 either way. With differing dates, I'm not sure of the timing for my orders.
  5. That's my problem ... etis does say window sticker is not retrievable; Ford cotus site states vehicle is in production ... but I cannot retrieve sticker - AND there is a different delivery date on cotus than dealer data reports. I am assuming the sticker has not been generated BUT then why does one site (a Ford one at that) state it's in production? Why is there a difference in estimated delivery by nearly 2 weeks? I know ... this is probably a situation where "why ask why?" is a valid response .. it probably "just is". <sigh> I'm itching to get the car now ... and get the parts I want ordered (donut spare, rims and steeda parts) but I simply desire a delivery date that is 90+% accurate.
  6. I just tried the cotus.ford link and my FFH shows as in production. However I get invited to pull the window sticker so I tried that. Firefox just sat there telling me it was "connecting ...". Can I assume that the sticker has not been produced yet? Annnddd one thing that was different. Dealer info as of last Thursday showed estimated delivery week of April 6th. Now the cotus page says April 19th. Which one of these should I accept as "gospel"? I have parts ordering to do that I want to have coincide with my pickup - or as close as possible. Thanks!
  7. Local detailing shop is Meguairs certified, so I use them for the detailing on the cars. I'm lucky enough AND old enough to be able to pay someone else for the trouble. I learned of clay in the Fiesta forums about 4 years ago. I used to work in one of the local nuclear power plants but to the west was another one with one of those huge cooling towers. My car was usually parked right where the small solids in the plume could drop on it, so 2-3 times a year I'd go to the detailers and get a clay job done. Boy did those cars shine!
  8. That's more than a ding for sure! There is a well-known and highly reputable body shop only a mile from my house. They've done all the work when I've needed repairs on the Fiestas. You could not tell that any of the parts had been replaced/repaired/repainted or whatever had to be done. Follow what acdii recommends and you shouldn't have any problems. It costs more but in the long run,it stays nice longer!
  9. Replaces OEM grille? How is the Fusion grille fastened into the faschia? Clips, glue? duct tape? It does look nice but until I know HOW the darn thing fastens in, I won't consider it. I know Fiesta method, but can't seem to locate any source on the Fusion front end. If the front faschia needs to be removed I'll need to look up where all the fastenings are.
  10. My current stable is one male and one female ... and once I have Nytwing I believe that will be masculine (making 2). However I have been known to have genderless names as well.
  11. That is scary ... but I have an Access app that I use for all my cars. Tracks cost per mile (with and without purchase price), MPG (low, average, high) and more. Handy little thing to give me all the stats I need at any time. But for a web site to track it? Naaaahhhh ... I wanna do it myself, thanks!
  12. Look around on the web. TireRack has some black with only the lip machined. Am seriously thinking of getting a set as non-Winter rims to put the OEM tread on. Winter set will be OEM rims and probably Goodyear TripleTread or similar. Black chrome doesn't rock my world, but it's not bad at all.
  13. The Fiesta latch issue was in early models ... MY 2011 and some of the pre-production Faction demo cars. I'm on Fiesta Faction boards and the latch issue has a sticky post in the Service Bay section. I have not heard of issues with MY 12+ of that model.
  14. I'm looking forward to the first highway run I take in the FFH after I get it. Of 3 that I take regularly, 2 are 65 MPH or better speed limit. Those will be a guide to how well I adapt to new driving techniques. One run I plan on taking is to NC to see my brother. He's got a '12 FFH and swears he can do NC ==> NY on one tank. I want to better that (like have some noticeable gas level left?). Sibling competition, ya see.
  15. :) This will be my first black vehicle since my VERY first one - a used 1960 Pontiac Ventura 389/floor-mounted 3-speed - in 1967.
  16. As of today, delivery is slated for week of April 6th. VIN is assigned and according to the report "locked in" - which I assume means "no changes!!" Even though it fell into the changeover period for the new models it will be a 2015 Tux Black/Terracotta HyTi. Soooo I essentially get one of the last '15 MY Fusions AND one of the last Tux Black ones at that. EDIT: Car will be called Nytwing (night wing).
  17. Logic dictates it ... if you remote start any vehicle, it is not moving at the time ... thus no TRIP computer registration. However because the engine is running, MPG of any computed type is likely to drop by some portion the longer it sits idling.
  18. Darn it! You're right ... it does look like an overlay. If I do get a grille change I want it to be replacement type and not overlay. Takes little garage space to store the OEM grille for any later replacement need.
  19. I think this and probably the T-rex unit are replacements. If Fiesta is any indication, the front faschia would need to be removed to get to the fastenings for the grilles. I like both units and am trying to decide which to get for my FFH once I know when it'll be delivered.
  20. As a Fiesta owner ... and I know quite a few others ... Fiesta easily beats EPA estimate. Even with the prior cars I could top 40 MPG with no problem and even lifetime average MPG was 2+ points above estimated numbers. Also, those numbers look like (perhaps) the EPA for a manual transmission. Adding the Powershift jacks up the cost by $1095 and the EPA is 1 or 2 higher than the manual.
  21. With the suspension you may be right ... but one can ALWAYS find stickier tires for these things. I know from the current driveway stable that OEM tires stink in snow/ice and are not suited to it at all. Therefore my first purchase after the car was to get proper tires for the season I knew would be coming at some point. And because I had a wad of unplanned for cash around I got rims from TireRack. Non-Winter set - TR rims and OEM tires; Winter set - OEM rims and snow/ice rated Goodyears Fuel Max tread. Works really well.
  22. But some of us ... like me ... have inclines that if the suspension is lowered an inch may cause damage to the front faschia. My driveway has a 12 degree incline from the street and the Fiestas I currently have are barely able to make it when it's snowing out. Coming out - even in Summer - it's not uncommon for the front to hit bottom (road) as we exit. For me. I don't wish front end repairs unless absolutely needed ... I'll be going the Steeda route as soon as I can post-delivery. Still no VIN ... closing on 3 weeks since order.
  23. I agree with what's been said so far. Having had 4 new Fiestas since 2010 I can tell you the mileages are definitely under 10 except as noted already. One of my cars had 22 because it was brought in from another dealer 13 miles away. Don't sweat it so much and look forward to getting the car! At least you'll have yours before I get mine!
  24. They dropped Tux Black? Bummer ... but as it looks like my FFH will be a '15 model, I'll have one of the last ones in Tux Black. Only been 2 weeks from ordering so VIN not likely available yet.
