  1. Anymore, I'm a little wary about any hybrids that have a higher highway FE rating for than for city, like this Kia: City 36, Hwy 40. It seems to me like the most advanced hybrids have a higher city rating than highway these days.
  2. Also, if you just turn the headlights into the manual "On" position, you also get the added bonus of the taillights being on as well, which seems to me like it would add even more safety, to help people not run into you as easily from behind, huh, hybridbear?
  3. Yes, when I do take the freeways to work during rush hour, I actually end up evening out many other people's speeds as well, since I will typically be in the far-left lane in the areas where it is mostly stop-and-go, and they can't dive in front of me to pass me since the other lanes are going slightly slower than that far-left lane. ;)
  4. Merry Christmas to everyone! I totally agree with DeeCee...I love my FFH and I love this forum too, even when SteveB_TX has to break out the popcorn. :salute:
  5. And on page 95 of the 2015 Fusion Hybrid OM, it lists the available options for the MyView selections.
  6. Welcome Ugachick! I totally agree with these suggestions above, especially the last line above, which I bolded. What also helped me to really improve my fuel economy the most was to start using city streets instead of the freeways. Taking the city streets also makes it is easier for me to "anticipate what is going on ahead so that I don't actually have to stop as often", since I have learned the timing of the traffic lights on my commute route so that I now know what speeds to go to allow me to catch the lights while they are green as much as possible. Another bonus of taking the city streets for me is that the amount of traffic on the city streets where I drive is much more consistent than the traffic levels on the freeways, especially during the rush hours. And I also stress much less on the city streets since I am not always having to slam on the brakes and then punch it to keep up with the flow of traffic that is so herky-jerky on the freeways during rush hour...ohmmmmmmmmm, ohmmmmmmmm :)
  7. You can have the temperature gauge displayed as one of the options in the MyView screen, in the left hand display.
  8. It seems to me that maybe the C-max owners are more into the hypermiling techniques than the FFH owners are. :) Me, I'm just happy looking good while I'm getting 50 MPG without any extraordinary hypermiling practices.
  9. This is so not true when the outside temp starts at 115°. The MPGs actually go up when the temp drops 10° from those types of temps. ;) BTW, my experience is the optimum temp for MPGs is somewhere between 50°-70°.
  10. If I zoom in a few times with Ctrl_+ while using Firefox on Win7, I can see it too. :detective:
  11. I had a '69 Galaxie 500 as a teen. And one time the pedal linkage broke and got stuck in the full throttle position. But fortunately applying the brake did triumph over the acceleration forces, and I was able to stop without incident.
  12. I feel like I am zipping along in a new Mustang now on this forum. :shift:
  13. Their low-price packages are usually the "Select" package, which these days they show as either "140+" or "165+" channels, and includes some sports and comedy channels. But the Travel Link option never seems to be included in any packages, only as an add-on. But as has been experienced by others, it might all just depend on your negotiation skills when you call them.
  14. At least our cars didn't have to be shipped overseas to get to us. And the cars from domestic companies seem to be less expensive as a whole. Plus I bet the parts for domestic cars are, in general, less expensive too.
  15. My SiriusXM sound quality is a hair better than typical FM quality for me. What does bug me about it is how easily and often the SiriusXM signal drops out when driving under underpasses or by large power lines. The SiriusXM reception in our 2009 Buick Enclave has much less signal dropouts than in my FFH. I would think it is the antenna design that is the culprit, which makes me very hesitant to convert to a shark fin antenna, which supposedly has a little worse reception than the whip antenna I have.

    MPG Happy Talk

:bliss: Brisk temperatures (50° - 75°) and long commutes (~25 miles) via city streets sure do bump up my FFH MPGs. :rating:

  18. Speaking of Mustangs and older Fords, I'm pretty sure the Owner's Manual for my 1985 Mustang GT said snow chains should _not_ be used.
  19. And to read the Owner's Manual. ;)
  20. Rain-X does what it advertises, in that it kind of acts like a wax for your window making the rain bead up nicely. But I am personally not a very big fan of Rain-X, because it causes the rain to fly off of the windowshield so easily and so darn fast when pushed by the air speeding past the car that the motion of all that water streaking by sort of distracts me from being able to detect the motion of the other drivers, pedestrians, etc. which I am trying not to run into. The lines of the water streaking off of the window so fast also almost causes a vertigo feeling for me. Edit add: I much prefer the motion of the windshield wipers to do the work of getting the water off of the windshield.
  21. I noticed a lot of fingerprints after I first installed my Nushield. I was quite disappointed. But then after one or two cleanings with some touchscreen cleaning fluid, I haven't noticed any fingerprint smears in months. I almost think the finger oils and/or cleaning fluid needed to permeate the Nushield screen protector to make the fingerprints not show up as much now. So now I have good-sized barely-used bottle of touchscreen cleaning fluid riding around in the car with me, for no apparent reason at all now.
  22. Apparently the OM tech writers didn't see the trunk release switch either, since it is so well hidden.
  23. I found 3 different ways to open the trunk on pages 57-58 of the latest 2014 FFH OM, but none of them include the button beside the headlights switch. So that would make 4 total ways to open the trunk. I had no recollection of reading in the OM about being able to open the trunk from the keypad on the driver door pillar. ---------------------------------------
  24. I just bought the coolest, cutest 1-gallon air compressor, which includes a standard gas-station air chuck, to air up my tires with. So now I just have another excuse to play with my new toy if they do let the air out of my wife's tires again. I also bought a precision air gauge so I know my tires are definitely at the pressures I want them to be.
  25. At the Buick dealership I have frequented most recently for oil changes, they insist on airing up the tires to 32 PSI on all vehicles, no matter what the door sticker says, as if they know better about what the tires should be set to. This is annoying enough in itself, but then the OnStar sends a nasty-gram email saying the tires are too low since they are not at the prescribed 35 PSI. :banghead:
