  1. Don't worry about the 91 octane reference. Mine has that reference also. The owner's manual states 87. So fill it with that octane.

I had another 58+ mpg trip home today. I also clicked up to 51.4 lifetime.
  3. Of course we have to protect the masses from their own stupidity. Like the guy that sued Harley Davidson because he used the throttle fiction control as a "cruise control" by tightening it to the point that the throttle stayed set in one position. Well this wanna be biker had an accident because he could move the throttle from the position he set it and was not smart enough to pull in the clutch or hit the kill switch. He lost his lawsuit. You can't fix stupid. You can't legislate intelligence. Should you penalize the masses because some are too stupid to learn the rules and apply correct techniques? As it is, there are many that should not be driving, but they have a license. Here in The state of Floridiot, they used to issue licenses for 20 years. So you could be 65, renew your license and drive for 20 more years without an eye test or an evaluation of your skills. Not that this state evaluates any senior's driving skills. Just look at how many drive into houses, post offices, supermarkets, medical offices and convenience stores because they can't remember if they are in drive or reverse and what pedal does what. So let's go ahead and not allow us to have an option that is beneficial to us. I'll sign a waive to have it enabled. This is just one of many senior driver Floridiot stories. This is sad, but it highlights what I'm talking about. The year the new Challenger came out, an 80 years old + woman buys a high end, high powered version. She looses control control of the car making a right turn, crashes, totals the car, and unfortunately, dies. Total miles on the car, 19. Cause of the accident, woman mashes the go pedal instead of the brake. While I love my FFH, Ford has their head "up and locked" when it comes to so many or things. DRLs, Sync and the Sync website are just a few examples. Ford is starting to get on my nerves with some of this stuff. When the time comes for my next vehicle, all of the company services, no matter whom that may be, will get evaluated before I make a purchase, One good thing. They haven't hidden any defects that caused over a dozen fatal crashes because they are too cheap to fix it. Let's hope not anyway.
  4. I'm sure "down the road" means if you wish in one hand and crap in the other, see which one fills up first. You can see where CS is going on this subject. They can't do squat for us. We need to start a list of dealers that have ability to activate the DRL.
  5. It's been broken for over 6 months! The issues have become so severe, everyone is now affected. Perhaps Ford needs to outsource this website. I know a couple of 18 year olds that could probably fix it. These kids are interning with me. They are creating the programming to run a 25 MGD water reclamation plant.

My lifetime MPG clicked up to 51.3 the other day.
  7. Situation Normal, All Screwed Up! I've been having issues with the Sync site since before the first of the year. It showed, back around Xmas, I needed an update. Turns out it was the update I already had. So I uploaded an update complete file. It did not show up. So I uploaded it again. No joy. I checked the site on New Year's day and it show I did the update 20 plus times! I wrote support an email about the 20 plus entries that said I completed an update and here's what I got from them... Thank you for your email to the In-Vehicle Technology Team. According to our records your vehicle is equipped with the latest version of SYNC 3.6.2. There are no updates needed at this time. If you report the update correctly it should show right away that you are up to date. If you would like to speak with a SYNC specialist please contact the support center. Please call 800.392.3673 (Select Language preference and then option 3). We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. Our specialists are available Mon - Sat 8:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. ET and Sundays 10:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. ET. Regards, Linda In-Vehicle Technology Team Ford Motor Company Well no kidding Linda. I know I have the current update. She missed, and or totally blew off, the reason for the email. The 20 plus update complete entries. But it's all good now. The Sync site now tells me I need to activate my Sync, PLUS, AS A BONUS, I have an update available! OOOHHHHHHHH, I wonder if it's the same one I already have??????????? Hey Kim... Has Ford's IT department ever heard of backing up their databases?? Ford needs to dump Sync and give us the Blackberry system. If it's good enough for Ferrari it will be good enough for us. Where do you guys hire your DB administrators? The way the sight has run since before the first of the year, I'm guessing they're Best Buy Geek Squad rejects. Or Ford hired the last 3 guys in the world coding in Basic 52. You know what they say. Those that can't do it, teach it. Those that can't do either, work at the Ford Sync website. This total lack of professionalism makes me wonder what will happen the next time Ford releases a hybrid update. Maybe, if nothing else, it will reset my mileage to 0. And before anyone askes, this is the way I really feel. :drop:
  8. I've had some bad Fords. Everything from a 72 Mustang Mach 1 that was a lemon to an 86 Escort that spent more time in the shop then it did on the road. My trucks have always been Fords. I had been away from Ford cars until I got my 2001 Focus. 361,318 miles later I traded in for another Focus. The only issues I had with that Focus were a speedo sensor at 150,000, a fuel pump at 225,000 and a bad right front drive shaft bearing at 250,000. It's possible to get a vehicle of any make that has issues. It's what the manufacture does about those issues that counts. My experience with Ford trucks and my Foci did play into my FFH purchase. CR can say what they want. I'm happy with what I purchased. Besides, I would say those that do their research, including looking at CR and other sources, will make an informed decision. Others will hear one thing and classify that vehicle that way until the cows come home. Here's an example. My father-in-law harps on hybrids. "You're going to have to replace that battery in 50,000 miles and it's gonna cost you 10,000!." To be quite frank, he doesn't know how a hybrid works any more than he know how a HD flat screen does. About all he knows is "something he heard". And that something was from a source that doesn't know anything about hybrids, battery technology or Ford's warranty. It was 4 months before he found out we purchased a FFH. He asked why I didn't tell him. My response was "I didn't want to hear you spout your misinformation about a subject you know nothing about." He hasn't said anything one way or the other about our FFH. Opinions are like rectums, everyone has one. But some have a larger size differential then others. My sister has a 2014 Honda Accord, a CR top 10 car. She's had it for 2 months and it's been in the shop 7 times. She's had issues with fit and finish, engine, transmission and the dash display. Not bad for a CR top 10 pick.
  9. It an S gas 2.0. The sad thing is the guy that drives it really does appreciate all of its features.
  10. Yes it does. But even with temps in the 40s I can still get close to 49 mpg. It's a little more difficult but it can be done.
  11. WOW! Personally, all the items would have been free, or I would have walked. When ordering mine, I made sure of the price and all options. I also told them I would walk away if the car was not the way I wanted. They told me no problem, and they would refund my deposit also. The minimum require deposit was only 500 (I gave them more) and a copy of my drivers license. Was the alarm system factory or after market? The manual states electrical add-ons should not be installed. I'm positive that means cut and splice wiring. Factory equipment that plugs directly into a harness is ok.
  12. I also try and use the same station and pump. There are 2 stations I use regularly. I do my best to stay in the Hybrid driving style. Part of getting the best mileage is hitting all the green lights. If I can do that, my mileage goes up by 4 to 5 mpg on that leg of the trip. I had a trip coming home this week, 28 miles, and got 61 mpg. Some of my shorter trips (about 8 to 10 miles) that don't include the warm-up cycle have been well over 90 mpg. I've also had some short 5 miles trips, that include the warm up cycle, with as low as 20 mpg. Yesterday my life time clicked up to 51.2 mpg.
  13. I park next to the white fusion in the picture every day. I'm soooo glad I didn't buy a white one (no offense to those that did). :)
  14. Pick me!!!! I'll beta test it! I'm well versed at finding bugs when testing software systems. Our SCADA provider always beta tests their software using our facility. I've actually had their software engineers tell me "the software won't do what you say it did". Funny, I always can manage to reproduce the issue. Same for some of our vendors. They write PLC programs they say work flawlessly, until I get my hands on them. They don't like me reviewing their code, but we stipulate that we own all code and software that is produced or used in a project. So yeah. Install it in my FFH and I'll test it. And break it. Then test the fixes to see if they work.
  15. Glad everyone is ok... Your weather conditions are just one of the reasons I live in Florida.
  16. I initialed a purchase form with the codes for what I wanted. My dealer said all they needed was a 500 deposit and a driver's license. I gave them more of a deposit. My form did not state the deposit was refundable, by they said it would be no issue if the sale was cancelled. They would refund the deposit. They estimated the tax tag and title. The ended up being less then estimated when the final paperwork was signed. They also locked in any rebates at the time I ordered and they stated if there were more rebates when I picked the car up, I would get them. There was and I did. One more thing, be sure they don't try and pass on any price increases to you. You should only have to pay the price stated when ordered.

Could be! Glad to see your mileage is coming up.
  18. I guess I'm the exception. My life time is 51 MPG. My fill ups are close to what my Fusion is calculating. I have gone from filling up my Focus every week, to filling up my Fusion every other week. I use a few more gallons, typically 3 I think, over the two weeks. I'm happy with what my Fusion is doing. El_Conde, some how I don't think the EPA is programming Ford's hybrid software. If that's what you think, you real need to do some research. If that was the case, they must be programming for the Prius, Tesla and the Ferrari. As for fraud. Nope. I believe the EPA disclaimer is "Your mileage may vary". You have an axe to grind. You say you have contacted Ford. Have you actually taken it to the dealer to see if there is a problem? Oh Kim (our Ford rep), how about starting a case for this guy and see if you can assist him.
  19. I'll continue to use the 5w20. I like having all my vehicles use the same oil.
  20. Kim is the Ford rep on the forum... Oh Kim... This looks like a hot one. Perhaps you would be kind enough to assist this member. Welcome! I hope you get it solved.
  21. If they steal the keys, they probably could not figure out how to drive it.

Thanks all! I'm regularly getting over 58 mpg on my daily 28 mile drive home. The morning is usually 50 plus. The driving techniques I learned here to get this mileage has become second nature. I've even started to drive my F150 the same way. I'm not sure if it helps the mileage, but it can't hurt.
