Love my 2014 FFH SEL. Wish I could get it back.
Sleddog replied to Spiff542's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
I think the they may not have the expertise to do the job quickly. I can't see that many dealer have changed an engine on one of these hybrids. The other part is dealership workload. Or perhaps they want to dedicate the hybrid expert to this project and the have been other jobs for him to do. For me, I would rather have it right, then have it don't quickly. I had some dealership work done quickly that required a return trip. -
With enough money you can do anything. The issue of charging the HVB with a solar cell is one of thing that will hold you back. The idea of providing enough power to run the a/c with a solar cell is interesting. But, the software programming AND interfacing another power source into this very complicated system makes it a no go, With that said, if you were to integrate a "selector switch" to direct power to the a/c components from either the normal power systems or a regulated solar panel with some type of storage system could be possible. Would it be worth it, IMO, no. The cost, research time and possible problems/damage to the cars systems If a mistake is made, are just some of the things to consider.

Yes it is. I know at some point my life time average is going to stop going up. That's ok through. If I can get to 52, I'll be very happy.
-
Finally! I took some pictures from my trip home. I'm at 55.2mpg on this tank. I have between 3/4 and 1/2 of tank left. I got 59.4mpg on the way home! And my lifetime clicked up to 51.6! :happy feet:

2013 Fusion Hybrid Issues & Problems
Sleddog replied to hybridbear's topic in Maintenance & Do It Yourself
enrichFLA - I'm glad you have solved your FF issue by moving on to another brand. Perhaps it's time to move on to another subject. You no long have the car, but yet you are still griping about the issues you had. We get it. Actually we got it 3 of your posts ago. You don't like Ford or the Fusion. Perhaps you may want to contribute to the Cadillac forums with positive posts about your ride and how the dealer treats you. Is there a need for you to continue to beat this dead horse?- 112 replies

Ruby Red with Clearcoat: Will it fade over time?
Sleddog replied to DirectorMan's topic in Body Exterior
Plan on washing and waxing a lot. Just due to the color and your location this is about the only way you will keep it from fading. I've owned 1 red car and will never do it again. I've seen others of the same model year that were not cleaned as much as I keep up with mine, and they were all faded with the clear coat peeling. The car was 14 years old when I sold it. The plastic bits were just starting to fade and the clear just starting to bubble. But to each his own. As others have said all car fade, but red is color that really shows it. -
Been averaging between 55 and 58 mpg on my daily commute. Still at 51.5 lifetime. I'm hoping that will go up another tick shortly.

Inter-dimensional interior space. Think bigger on the inside than the outside, like a tardis. This way I could get all my 3 gun gear in the FFH instead of having to take my truck to matches!

Chill. It's all good. Remember there are 2 things your never discuss at a party. Politics and religion. It causes hard feelings. If you have a political axe to grind, this may not be the best place to do it. Let get back to acdii DWTS obsession. Acdii, tell us more about the wardrobe malfunctions. Pictures please.

You may want to stop and pick up a Y chromosome next time you are out running around. Just saying.

Navigation system performance
Sleddog replied to md13ffhguy's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I bet the card has a copy encryption. Most do. This prevents illegal copies being made. Otherwise one person could buy card and sell a boat load of copies. -
You were just burning the last of the "new" of the motor and exhaust system. There may have been a residue on some thing that needed a high then your normal serving temperature to complete burn off. No worries.
-
Nope. The dealer does not have to provide you with a vehicle. But most do out of courtesy. I have gotten loaners but only in a warranty repair situation, not a TSB repair. Most of the time, for in warranty TSB repairs, they pay the minimum for a rental if they need to keep the vehicle overnight. They do not cover the collision damage waiver or any extras. The sales guy I deal with always gets me a loaner off the lot. It's usually something they have on the used lot, but always a ford. I try and bring in my vehicles for service when he's working. I guess that's one of the perks of dealing with the same dealership and person when I buy my fords. The dealer probably has a courtesy van to get you home or to work.

I can't say I've heard the fans after shutting down the car when running the a/c. But I have heard the battery fans.
-
Could be the cooling fans for the battery. From the manual During certain events (such as vehicle servicing) your low voltage 12-volt battery may become disconnected or disabled. Once the battery is reconnected and after driving the vehicle, the engine may continue to operate for three to five seconds after the key is turned to off. This is a normal condition. This should be the only time your engine runs after the key is turned off.

These marks are extremely hard to see on the Ice Storm color. I just went and checked my car and it took me a while to find them. There are plates you can buy to cover this area. I'm not concerned about them. I'm just glad Florida does not require front plates.

Just a quick comment... I've used my emergency brake once. And that was to test it. I like the way it operates. Unlike the manual emergency brake in my F-150. Which, until fixed under warranty, the cable had a tendence to hang up and would not release the brake. To padero9615 - I'm surprised Ford Canada or the dealers are not helping you. If they can't get the cars delivered, they don't get paid. That and I'm sure the rail company is real happy about having one of their transport cars sitting idle with cargo that can't be unloaded.

I wish... They like riding in the Fusion more than pulling it! But I do try and get the most from the car.
-
New update... Lifetime MPG is now 51.5 I've got to remember to take some pictures of the great trips I've had recently so I can post them. Had a 35 mile mile trip with an MPG of 81 the other day.

My Fusion will go in for service in about 3 weeks. I'm gonna ask. I'll post what happens.

Nav In-Dash cluster does not work correctly, POI's
Sleddog replied to GrySql's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Unfortunately this is the only way it works. I did have it work the first time the other day. But have not been able to duplicate it. -
Can I add a subwoofer to a 2014 Titanium?
Sleddog replied to Gary Hall's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Agreed! You are not sitting a band room. If you want that type of experience in your FFH, try a high end set of headphone. This way you don't have to worry about frying the converter. As an EE, and having done some analysis of the FFH electrical systems, there is a way to do it that won't require much in the way of resources and it can be done without hurting the converter. But since I have no reason, or want to do this to my FFH. I'm going to keep my research to myself. This way I'm not exposed to any liability. Especially if someone was to cook a converter, HVB or themselves.
