Moonroof Wind Deflector
gkinla replied to KLH's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
Seems like Ford realized there was a rumbling noise when the roof was opened all the way, then addressed it by a having a two stage opening. I just open my Moon Roof to the first stop and leave it, there is no rumbling in this first position. I only open it fully when stopped. The Fusion is equipped with a small wind deflector that is deployed automatically. If you're talking about the semi permanent one that attaches to the roof, it's not for me. I think it would destroy the beautiful lines of the Fusion. Your views on the subject might be different. -
My FFH build date is very close to yours, 11-28-2012, delivery on 12-12-12. My mileage was never great, around 35 MPG. But I attribute this to not necessarily my style of driving but the type of driving I do. Most of my driving with the 2013 is short trips, 1.5 miles to one grocery store, 2 miles to another the PO, the Bank, then on weekends 50 mile round trips. These short trips never let the ICE warm up to efficient levels. These short trips show 18 to 20 MPG, because I previously drove a 2010 FFH for three years I did have the Hybrid techniques ingrained. I was working during my 2010 ownership and was putting on 70 miles per day on the FWY. With the 2010 I was averaging 33 MPG, driving from LAX to Santa Clarita and back. Now that I'm retired I don't get those efficient miles added to my lifetime, which is now 37 MPG after the update and the 100% Hard Reset, so the reset has helped. I'm resolved that this is what it is and not going to get much better for us city dwellers. If we could get our cars to Hybridbear and let him drive his style and his routes, we might get a real feel for what our cars are capable of, or in fact, we do have a problem.

Daytime Running lights?
gkinla replied to Ric's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
No problem with turning the DRLs on, you just need a dealer that is willing and able to do the procedure. Both GrySql and I had them turned on at the same dealer, no hassles, no grief, no cost, they just turned them on because we asked. We were having other work done at the time that probably made it easier for the SA to get it done. -
Yes, I did speak to our SA regarding the MPG improvement to our FFHs after the 100% SOC Hard Reset. I told the SA that you were on a trip and would have positive news about the trip the next time you were at SBF. He is anxious to hear from you.

I know it sounded like a complaint, but it wasn't about the service. We have the best dealer in the South Bay, and they always have gone the extra mile to make us happy. Thanks for putting it in perspective, they again went that extra mile to provide a great service. I got more than I expected with the Tech finding that unique switch and not having to drill a hole in the center console.

After the %100 SOC and hard reset, filling the tank, resetting the average MPG to zero, I was now averaging 39.1 MPG, in combined city and FWY, and slowly climbing. I take it to the dealer for installation of the Ambient Lighting Kit, the FFH comes back with 37.3 MPG, and I know it didn't leave the shop floor. Grrrrr! I know the Tech had to have the car operating to check out the lighting, but to drop 1.8 MPG is disheartening to say the least knowing how hard we have to work at a getting great MPG. It just shows idling is a MPG killer. Using energy and no miles, averaging a zero in is a killer.

The cost for this install is $217.88 for the kit, it retails for $249, I got a discount. $28.67 for the switch and $90.00 for the install. So for me it the total was, $366.55 The install takes approx four hours, so the $90.00 is inexpensive. If your going to do it get it done now before Ford figures out it takes longer than one hour.

Thanks for this info. I just went online and watched a YouTube video before I read this and found out that the Ambient Ti Lighting is controlled by the MFT, it's really neat. I just got lucky that there is an "A" on this switch, for me it means Ambient Lighting. I did post the switch number in case anyone wanted to go this rout.

I had the Ambient Lighting installed today, my pictures aren't as detailed as B25Nut, but gets the point across. The lighting works the same as B25NUT. I had the small LEDs put in the rear console, in the same place as the Fusion Ti comes installed, lighting the rear footwells. The SA came out to me and asked where I would like the small lights installed. Evidently you can have them installed where ever you want as long as the wires are long enough. There is no set place in the directions, it's up to you and the Tech. The larger LEDs are in the front footwells, I did have the Ti pedals installed back in May. During the installation the SA came out to me and asked if I wanted a different switch to control the lighting. The Technician remembered seeing another Fusion with a dual switch on the passenger side, I have Auto Park with only one switch and a blank switch cover. The switch he remembered had the Auto Park and an "A" on it. So I said yes to the SA. No drilling and only $28.00 for the switch. It works perfectly. The "A" is perfect for Ambient Lighting. It actually may be for a Fusion Ti with Ambient Lighting. The switch part No. is, DG9Z-13D730-BA That's just a piece of insulation on the seat, I didn't notice it until I saw the picture,

So much for MPG happy talk, here's what would make my right foot very happy. LOL. 444 HP; 380 ft-lb torque, Blown Shelby Mustang, window sticker, $66,000.

B25NUT, Thanks for the update, I had ambient lighting on my 2010 FFH and really missed it when I bought the 2013 FFH SE . When I first heard of the ambient lighting kit for the 2013 FFH, I was at my dealer and they had just happened to have one in stock, I bought it and I will have it installed tomorrow.

Receiving Text messages with iOS 7 via iPhone
gkinla replied to JimArch's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
I lost my ability to receive text also after upgrading to IOS 7, but I reset//repaired using the sequence below. It's now working. I copied this from another member for my personal use and I don't remember who. Give it a try. This was in regards to the MFT upgrade. "Pairing iPhone & MFT The main things I am stoaked about so far is the speed, better navigation destination screens, simplied voice commands for music, and the iPhone compatibility. I can confirm that recieving text messaging does finally work, however sending sadly is still not compatible it appears. The way I got this to work for all you iPhone users out there who have been as frusterated as me is the following steps. Unpair Sync and your iPhone. Turn Bluetooth off on your iPhone and turn off the phone. I also turned off the Fusion at this point and turned off and on MFT to be safe, but this might not have been required. Turn back on your iPhone and MFT and repair the devices. Once your iPhone is paired, go to your bluetooth settings on the phone and click the blue options arrow on the right side of the "Sync" item. You will see "Show Notifications", flip that to ON. Then turn off MFT and back on again (I believe you just probably need to disconnect and reconnect the phone). Now go to phone on MFT and click messaging, it should finally let you in to the screen. Recieving and reading text messages will work, which includes iMessages." -
Mornings I leave the AC off, when it warms up by mid morning, I set the AC to auto, 70 to 72 deg F. Evenings when the temp gets below 70 deg F, I shut the AC off. And this is hard off by going into the climate controls and selecting vent, then shutting the AC pump off. I leave the fan on because I don't like road noise and leave the windows closed. Stagnant cabin air makes me queasy thats why I leave the fan on. 50% of my driving is in the afternoons and the AC is always on.

GrySql I noticed this same phenomenon right away after the PCM update, temps in LA are much higher in the morning. I was wondering why the car was accelerating so smoothly, felt kind of torquier, went to the Engage Screen and noticed the traction motor was pulling more power than the ICE. It has done this every morning since. I also did the forced 100% SOC last week then did the hard reset. I was averaging 35MPG, before and after the PCM update, that is with combined city and FWY. I did reset the AVG MPG and now after 325 mi, I'm averaging 39.1MPG and climbing. The forced 100% SOC and reset has helped my MPG over 10% which I'm very happy about. I just might get to a 40 MPG tank full, and that would be wondrous.

GrySql, I complained to my dealer back in April regarding the BS message that just started every time I shut the car off. After two visits a week apart the battery was changed. The SA spoke to a hybrid tech and at that time he said that Ford had a batch of bad 12v batteries. My build date is 11/28/12. My buy date is 12/12/12. I haven't had any BS notices since, pun intended. I just went to the garage and started the car in ET mode. I have a power port volt meter and it read 14.0v and the ET display read 13.5v. I shut the car off, you lose ET mode, and with the lights on, the voltage read 13.8v until the lights timed off, then it read 12.2v.

Shark Fin antenna: unboxed and installed
gkinla replied to Former Expedition owner's topic in Body Exterior
I've had my SF on for three months without any issues, AM/FM or Sirius. -
If you've put decals on a plastic model plane or model car, it's the same technique, except bigger and scarier. The scarier part is if you screw it up it's $60.00 down the drain. I didn't do mine but had my local body shop apply the decal for $25.00.

It's not a Hybrid, it's a "4600# brick, 350 HP with AWD". These screens are probably non-hybrid gas only. I did some research and this type of screen shows up on the Taurus page. Here's another screen shot of the RPM gauge.
