  1. We have had great weather in Houston this week, so I have been driving with no A/C, windows and moonroof open. I am also using the "fresh" air from the vents. The air stinks. Not sure why, but I am hoping that if I continue to run it, maybe the problem will fix itself. In any case, i am very close to taking the car in. I go on vacation in a week, so maybe I'll leave it in service or take it when i come back. Am getting great mileage with no A/C this week. Just wish my air didn't stink. Of all the problems You worry about a new car having, stinky air never came to mind.
  2. They could have plugged the tire but didn't recommend it. I opted for the new tire.
  3. Sorry to hear about your accident. Seems like a big hit to have happened in a parking lot. Totaling the car is probably for the best. Good luck finding a new ride.
  4. This ambient Lighting looks much brighter and nicer than what I got in my titanium, which is barely perceptible. I wonder if they are using brighter bulbs. Very nice!
  5. A couple of hundred bucks and I'm back in my car! Just glad to have it resolved. Luckily, I only have 6000 miles on my car, so the other tires are still pretty new.
  6. There is a local shop very close to my house and the guy was nice enough to come to my house and fill the tire so we could drive it there. Tire will need to be replaced. You can see the incident in picture above. Bad luck, i guess.
  7. I do have towing with my insurance. Just don't know if the tire will be repairable since it leaked so quickly. I did not feel anything on the road for it to happen.
  8. Maybe that explains it. The tire was not mostly flat, but was losing air rapidly. And i was braking to turn.
  9. The tire had lost air but was not flat. Even after I pulled into my garage, the deflating went on for another 15 minutes or so. It was very strange and happened very fast. I tapped the brakes slightly to slow down and turn and that's when it lunged. This is the same turn I do almost every day, so it's kindof auto pitlot with car in EV+
  10. Thanks Gry. I had just found the same thing. I could try and remove the tire with another car's jack and see if it can be repaired. But the air was gushing out, I wonder if it's even fixable. These things always happen when you have a ton of other stuff to take care of. The scary part was that the car lunged for no reason as I was slowing down to turn into my neighborhood. I Should be grateful it didn't happen on a road trip to florida or in the middle of the highway. At least I made it home.
  11. Not sure how much worse my day can get, but i was driving home tonight after a long day at work, when suddenly the low tire pressure warning came up. I was a mile or so from home, so i figured it was a slow leak and it would be fine. As I exit the freeway and am close to turning to a street in my neighborhood, the car suddenly takes off on me. Very weird and frightening. I immediately stopped and heard air blowing out of one of my tires. I was two blocks from home at this point so I went ahead and pulled into my garage. What now? No jack. I certainly don't want to fill it up with the emergency kit. Do we have free towing? Appreciate any input.
  12. My air is still stinky. It was wishful thinking that it had gone away. We are back to hot humid weather in Houston. About the car dripping water, that is a good point. My old car, I always saw a puddle of water in garage. Can't say I've noticed the the same for the Fusion. Will have to pay closer attention.
  13. I'm pretty sure the problem has to do with humidity and using A/C on recirculate only. My old Camry would reset to fresh air quite often, which was annoying, but maybe designed that way on purpose. Back to my car, we had some cooler weather this past weekend where I ran with the windows down for a few days. Not sure I understand why, but yesterday I went back to using A/C and the bad smell may be gone. i have to reverify that, but it seemed either gone or better. Today is back to humid again, so we will see if the smell returns when Imleave work. That is when it's most notable for me, after sitting all day in the garage.
  14. Thanks so much for detailed report. Worrisome that no resolution was found. We all have to band together to find a resolution. I emailed my service tech a few days ago and pointed him to this thread and the one on Blue Oval forums. I never received a response. It is paramount that we get Ford to ackowledge the problem.
  15. Yesterday, it cooled off in Houston after some afternoon rains, so I decided to drive home with windows open, no A/C. After a while I decided to put the climate control on "fresh" air only. it was, as described by others, very moldy nasty smelling air that was blowing through. And unlike when running the A/C, the smell persists. This is the most disappointing thing about my car. If this is not fixed, I will not last long with this car. I will be calling my dealer soon, but want to do a little more research first. Some of you in the humid areas should try using your fresh air-only.
  16. I was just thinking the same thing today. The stink is bad and seems to be getting worse. Has anybody had this issue looked at or gotten it resolved?
  17. That is the same behavior I see in my car. I did the battery disconnect thing, and I am optimistic I will see higher MPGs on road trips. i did a short test run and was seeing mid forties going 70 MPH. i have never seen numbers like that before in my car, and in fact, took a road trip right after PCM update, and going 70 was yielding MPGs in the mid thirties. you may want to give that a try. I should add, I do not have definitive proof on an improvement. I did a short run on I-10 in Houston, but of course I need to put it to a test on a real road trip, of which I have none planned right now.
  18. It appears that Ford has removed the computation of Lifetime MPG from 2014 Fusion Hybrids and some late model 2013 C-Maxs. I can't help but think this was a deliberate move on Ford's part after all the EPA issues they have encountered. We can all get the occasional high 40s or 50s MPG trips, but let's face it, the lifetime average brings you back to reality. I imagine for most drivers, with a few exceptions, the lifetime average is a constant reminder that they are well below EPA estimates. This is probably a good move for the company, even if we don't like it. Come to think of it, I never had a lifetime average on my Camry Hybrid. And I have reset my Fusion's a few times. The last time being after the PCM update. I am currently sitting at 39.5 and climbing.
  19. The first one recorded would have been even lower had you kept pumping. Like hybridbear says, it will even out.
  20. You can reset the Avg MPG that shows up on Empower, Engage, etc at any time. It is great for playing MPG games for a day or for a sequence of errands etc. i reset it frequently.
  21. I cracked up on your first sentence, but I think removing exisiting functionality has more to do with EPA numbers.
  22. I was within Houston city limits (Houston is a big city), but I seemed to get better mileage with cc set at 70 (mid forties) to my usual 62 to 64 MPH. It's a little early to draw conclusions though, but i am encouraged. BTW, thanks to Terryb for showing me how to do this yesterday..
  23. I just did the disonnect and am very encouraged. My city mileage has always been decent (low 40s), but my highway is usually mid thirties. I did a quick test drive after the disconnect and it did seem like the car goes into EV mode easier now at highway speeds and for longer periods. Keep in mind this is one quick test run, so I can't fully draw conclusions. My clock reset. I lost EV+. i also noticed that the DTE went up to like 495 initially. It was around 400 before. I did not lose my trip statistics.
