Barsoom Report post Posted December 27, 2013 It seems that the latest Android push to version 4.3 fixed the MAP problem. The text feature is now working on my phone. All I did after the update was to delete the phone pairings and redo the pairing of the phone.

Howie411 Report post Posted December 28, 2013 The Text Messaging on the My Ford Touch is very unreliable. I have an HTC One and my Wife has the HTC EVO LTE. One day text messaging works and one day it doesn't its so random. (my HTC one has 4.3) and her phone has 4.2). Even weirder sometimes text messages work (receiving them) but when you try to send them it says your device isn't supported. 1 aaronj1159 reacted to this

Performing a soft reset to the phone once in a while will improve your connection with SYNC for text messaging. On both of these phones, you'll just hold the POWER button for about 10 seconds until it powers off and turns back on. The phone will still be paired to your car after doing this. If you begin to receive a message telling you that the device isn't supported every time you attempt to send a text message through MyFord Touch, delete SYNC from the device and delete the phone from MyFord Touch. Follow these steps to pair it again: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/pair-your-phone-sync-myford-touch If the phone asks if you want to allow SYNC to access your phone's information, make sure you touch YES or text messaging will not work. Howie411 Report post Posted December 30, 2013 Hi Kim, Thanks for the info, but that is basic troubleshooting steps. (I work in IT and tell folks this all the time) The point is we shouldn't need to soft reset the phone every so often to get this feature working. Its obviously a bug with the Sync system. djminfll Report post Posted December 30, 2013 As long as we're on the subject, has anything been done to allow text feature to work on the biggest selling phone, the iPhone? I have the iPhone 5 and it is not supported.
milleron Report post Posted December 30, 2013 I'm glad that the messaging function was restored. My Galaxy S3 (Verizon) displayed texts appropriately under Jelly Bean 4.2.1, and it still works under 4.3 I was hugely disappointed, however, that the 4.3 upgrade BROKE my metadata display with Pandora. With version 5.0 of Pandora I got the artist's name and song title displayed on the large screen, albeit not on the right info screen. I was NOT able to display metadata from other music services, just Pandora, and Pandora gave this functionality only after the release of version 5. So, under 4.2, the process was imperfect, but just getting artist names and song titles displayed on the center-stack screen in Pandora solved 95% of my problems. NOW, with the advent of the latest and greatest from Google/Android, I'm right back to square 1. I was under the impression that MAP problems were to be addressed in KitKat, Android 4.4 and not in the 4.3 version we just go. From my reading, I thought that the AVRCP functionality was to be baked into 4.3, and I was depending on that fix to make metadata from all music sources display on MFT. I've scoured the Internet forums, but I've found no resolution to this awful problem. I imagine that Pandora will come up with a proprietary solution of their own, given several months, but I'm really angry that an update that was supposed to "fix everything" not only failed to deliver but actually bombed the metadata display in MFT back into the stone age. I'm angry at Google for this abortion of an upgrade, but I'm also remaining angry at Ford for producing the only two upscale cars (Ford and Lincoln with MFT) I know of that cannot interact directly with Pandora over BT. It's beyond absurd that MFT should ruin the functionality that I understand is built into Sync. Does anyone have any insight into this mess? Is there a necessary setting I'm missing?Does MFT display metadata on material streamed via BT from the latest iPhones? If so, I'm close to ending my love affair with Android and moving to Apple. Hello Milleron, I don't have much information on this, but I'll tell you what I do know. :)The MyFord Touch system only uses information from these Bluetooth profiles: HSP, HFP, PBA, OBEX, OPP, A2DP, AVRC and MAP. The Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) in conjunction with the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) will affect the streaming of metadata via Bluetooth on the MyFord Touch display. Unfortunately, I am unable to verify which phones will allow this feature to work. Kim
acdii Report post Posted December 31, 2013 Does MFT display metadata on material streamed via BT from the latest iPhones? If so, I'm close to ending my love affair with Android and moving to Apple.Yes, when playing Pandora over BT it displays the track information. I use USB though as the sound quality is much much better, and the phone gets recharged at the same time. The Iphone battery life sucks. I can drain it in a few hours playing Angry Birds or listening to Pandora. I briefly had a Galaxy 4, and quickly got rid of it for the 5s. Could NOT stream pandora over USB, and the BT sound quality was muddy, and like you, no track information on the dash screen. It was also a very awkward phone to use, as a phone. Felt like I slapped a laptop to the side of my head to make a phone call. 1 corncobs reacted to this
FordIVTteam Report post Posted December 31, 2013 Yes, when playing Pandora over BT it displays the track information. ... Hey acdii, I know that some iPhones will not stream metadata via Bluetooth. milleron Report post Posted December 31, 2013 acdii, I recall other posts of yours about having to use USB rather than BT, and I'm still surprised at that. My Galaxy S III has a serious problem with metadata, but I'd compare the clarity and fidelity of Pandora over BT to HD FM or a CD. I literally never get any skips or pauses, either.I do pay Pandora the modest annual fee which I think gives me higher sampling rates than one can get with their free service. Which Pandora are you using? Also, does the IPhone 5 transmit metadata over both USB and BT? Finally, if your right information screen is set to Entertainment, do you see artist name and song title there, as well as on the large nav screen? acdii Report post Posted January 1, 2014 Well I tried it tonight over BT and this version iOS does not transmit the data to the right screen, only the main screen. When I first got the phone it had the first release of iOS, and has since had two updates, and it did work the first time I tried it, but since I use USB for streaming and charging, I never noticed the change. As far as the BT vs USB, the difference is noticeable with songs on the phone as well as Pandora. My wife is not musically inclined and even she noticed the difference. milleron Report post Posted January 4, 2014 Yes it does. If MFT had Applink everything would work over USB. . . . and Pandora would work over BT, as well, presumably. With Applink, even album art is displayed, is it not?
acdii Report post Posted January 4, 2014 Not a very good picture, but art work does come up using USB. Just noticed I took it when it had generic artwork. for some reason Pentatonix Royals doesn't have the album, but the rest show the PTX cover.

Hi md13ffhguy and aaronj1159, Since updating to V4.3, have you deleted the phone from SYNC and paired it again? I also recommend removing the battery and replacing it. This will improve the Bluetooth connection with the MyFord Touch system. Kim

FordIVTteam Report post Posted January 9, 2014 My text messaging always worked with my S3 until I started using Pandora over bluetooth now it is very hit and miss. But before using Pandora it worked 100% of the time Hi halfelite, I suggest performing a soft reset to your phone just to make sure the Bluetooth connection is optimal. Although Pandora may be the culprit, I can't confirm it. I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this. If you have, let me know! Kim
