HD Radio not working?? ('14 Fusion Hybrid Titanium)

Recommended Posts

I got the new software installed today and it works great! It only took a few minutes, and I now have HD radio. I am very pleased with the way the dealership handled it and the outcome.

Is there a TSB #? Calling my dealer and telling them I saw their is a fix on the forum doesn't seem to work to well. :)

I don't know the TSB number, but have your service dept call the service dept at Arlington Ford in Arlington Heights, IL and they can tell them. There is another person who posted here that their HD radio was fixed, too, and noted the location of their dealership, and that dealership should also be able to answer the question.

When you guys find the TSB, PM Me or Hybridbear and we will sticky it under the TSB threads.

Took my 2014 Fusion Hybrid Titanium with 500 miles in for service this morning here in Grand Rapids, Mi. at Borgman Ford to fix the dead HD radio. All went well and in about an hour I had my new Fusion Hybrid back with the HD radio now working! One happy camper here!

FYI, my salesman just emailed me a copy of this letter (see attachment).

My favorite part is where it says, "in interest of customer satisfactions". Ummm you had a mistake when building the car, you should be fixing it no matter what.....

I got this letter BEFORE I got my replacement vehicle! Way to go Ford! For forum search purposes, it's Customer Satisfaction Program Number 13B18.

Seriously Ford, couldn't you just make this fix BEFORE I took delivery of the vehicle? Nothing like going through the BBB resolution process with a car full of issues only to get a new one that already has an issue (small, but still an issue) from MILE ONE?

Does this Customer Satisfaction Program only apply to the 2014 Fusions? My '13 HD radio cuts in and out - I wonder if there's a fix for that :)

Sigh...I started this topic a while back when the HD radio on my new car did not work. Ford developed a solution, I took the car in for service and it was fixed. Until recently. As another person noted in this chain, the fix stopped working. The HD button appears to be on (lit up), but there is no HD signal, the HD symbol does not appear by the station name and I cannot choose HD channels. I called the dealership and they said that this is a known problem and that there is another fix available. The problem is not obvious since the button is lit (though the sound is different), but if you have had this problem, check to see if you have the HD symbol and can change HD channels. If not, back to the dealer!.

Seriously? The fix didn't work? Haven't taken mine in yet for the 13B18 fix yet since I spent so much time at my dealership with my 2013 POS. Guess I'll wait some more.

Yes--you are correct--the "fix" did not work. My HD radio worked properly for about 3 months after the fix, and then it stopped working again.

How do you know if you have HD radio? I can not find any info on Fords site. I have a Fusion SE with Rear view camera, Nav, and the Sport package.

Only the Fusion Titanium has HD radio. It's part of the Sony Audio package.

Finally got back to the dealer. They quickly updated the software and the HD radio is back - sounds great. While I was there, they also fixed the driver's side windshield wiper - when I complained that it squeaked when operating, I was told it is a "known issue". I really like the car and the dealer, but I would prefer that if I have already made the trip in for a repair that they voluntarily fix a known problem, or at least ask if a fix is necessary. It would save me from additional trips back later, and makes me wonder what else may be "known" that I am unaware of.

While I cannot recall ever taking a new Honda or Toyota to a dealer for repairs within months of a purchase and can therefore symphathize, I have seen some comments in this forum that appear to be buyer's remorse. I have none (so far). I love this car and enjoy driving it every time I get into it. The Camry hybrid was dull, dull, dull, had a lot of road noise and had a rougher ride. No regrets.

I have had the wiper problem too, the reason they can't fix it right then and there is they have to order the replacement parts which take a few days to get. Been there, done that. My only complaint now is the passenger blade slaps the cowl when they shut off.

I too had a Camry, and went from that to a 2010 Fusion, the quality in materials alone was quite apparent between the two. I briefly considered an Avalon Hybrid, but it was too pricey compared with a loaded up Fusion. The Energi was priced better and had the same features. For me the only thing about a Toyota is at least you can go 100K without issues, provided the seats dont wear out first.

Since you have the 8" screen you can actually have a third party add the HD radio from a Titanium to your SE.

The part that you'll need is an ACM (module with the CD player in it) from a Titanium, the part number on the unit is DS7T-19C107-CC to CL and after that you'll need the feature enabled in your APIM. I sent the replacement ACM and my APIM up to Jason at fordpimods.com and he was able to program it it and send everything back to me within a day so my total project time was about a week shipping via Priority Mail.
