Software Updates from Ford to improve MPGs

Recommended Posts

The below item just showed up on the list of service actions when looking up my VIN in Etis... searched the site for TSBs and nothing showed up yet, though maybe I am not using the right keyword(s).

Outstanding Field Service Actions

13B07 - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) CALIBRATION

Same here.

Same for me! I have an appointment on Monday for them to look at a scuff on the passenger door panel. I guess I'll ask about this. Does anyone know if the software has been released?

No specific date, only "starting in August" as noted in the below Ford article.

Since my car is already in the shop (ready to be picked up this morning) I asked them to check if the software update is available and it is!

I guess I'm the first guinea pig to get it :)

Well good luck and please feed the feedback hungry crowd how the new software works and hopefully shows improvements.

Looks like the bulletin was released yesterday to the dealers. It says any car built before July 16th is eligible (which means the plant started using the new software on July 16th). It also says you have until August of 2014 to get the software installed for free, after that you may have to pay for it.

Do you happen to have a copy of the bulletin? I'll see if I can get one when I pick mine up this afternoon.

Same here. Asked if I want to bring it in next week. I think I will wait a couple weeks though. I want to hear feedback from others before I get my car broke.

You know what they say

If it aint broke, Dont fix it.

Hopefully that timeline includes August otherwise all dealers should probably cancel all existing appointments till August 1st to be ready for the FFH community to enter the service centers.

Just spoke to my dealer, they said the software upgrade is mandatory and will have to happen no matter if I want it or not.

That doesn't sound consistent with everything else I've heard... hmm.

I'm with you, all I read was that this thing was optional. I won't argue with my Service Dept folks. Don't want to get into trouble of voiding my warranty or something, you know

I just got updated. It so happened that it became available today and I was already scheduled for my 10,000 mile oil change / tire rotation.

Waiting patiently to see if it actually works before bringing mine in. My dealer is already aware of it and waiting for me to bring it in. He agrees though, if it aint broke.....
