Dond1975 Report post Posted May 30, 2013 Is the rental car an extended warranty benefit? I did not get the extended and was told by the dealer Ford would not cover the cost of a rental under the standard warranty.
hybridbear Report post Posted May 30, 2013 Is the rental car an extended warranty benefit? I did not get the extended and was told by the dealer Ford would not cover the cost of a rental under the standard warranty.Your dealer is lying if they say that Ford won't cover a rental when your car is in for warranty work overnight. They are being truthful if they tell you Ford won't cover a rental for work that is completed within the same day. This is why I always try to schedule my appointments to bring the car in for late in the afternoon to guarantee I'm given a rental. You would need to read the fine print of any extended warranty you may consider buying to know what is covered. One would certainly hope that you would do that before buying any extended warranty
hybridbear Report post Posted May 30, 2013 Guess who got his very own cracking noise finally! aaronj1159 Report post Posted May 30, 2013 Would you mind adjusting your vote on the Cracking noise POLL then please? ThanksDone. To be honest I was going to do it, I was just waiting for that thread to pop up on the new content so I wouldn't have to go searching for it. It's a new level of lazy really. 2 elle and jeff_h reacted to this
Ric Report post Posted May 30, 2013 After reading about this I checked my FFH. Yep, I hear a "clink" when starting out. Sounds like it comes from the drivers side front wheel area. Got the TSB (from forum). Heading to dealer today.
Ric Report post Posted May 30, 2013 After reading about this I checked my FFH. Yep, I hear a "clink" when starting out. Sounds like it comes from the drivers side front wheel area. Got the TSB (from forum). Heading to dealer today. We were at the dealer today. They ordered parts for both front wheels, doing both even though only one side is making noise. Interesting on another matter. Dealer thinks there is a update to the 3.5.1. MFT. Going to take care of that at the same time. They gave me a 2011 Lincoln Navigator to drive for the day. Pretty nice SUV although I was only getting 14 mpg with it. So, next Thursday they need the car the whole day. Red carpet at this dealer. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

Are you saying that they were able to order the Thrust Washer Kit to repair the cracking noise and intend to install them next week?Every other Dealer we've heard from says the thrust washer is either on backorder or not in the parts catalog. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

Hybridbear's, and others, Dealers have told them that they couldn't even find the part. I believe Ric said that his Dealer was going to order the parts and do the repair next week, not at the end of June. That is very much sooner than the rest of us have been told. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

Ric Report post Posted May 30, 2013 Glad you get treated well by your dealer. Was the 2011 Lincoln off their lot of a rental from Enterprise? No, it was a left over driven by the owner. Had 2800 miles on. A terrific deal is to be had I'm told. Window sticker was 64,000. Sell price around 50,000. Still a bunch of money for a two year old car. . new2fordfusion Report post Posted June 2, 2013 Went to the dealer yesterday for the cracking/clinking noise and showed them the TSB. They checked the car and ordered the necessary parts. Like most folks here in this forum, it is back ordered and dealer said it will be about a month. Will check with the service advisor after a few weeks. Anyone who has the thrust washer kit installed, please let us know if that has fixed the sound.
fusionTX Report post Posted June 2, 2013 Has this TSB shown up for anybody as a notice on Fordowner.com? Or has anybody been notified individually that this TSB is necessary? If it were not for this forum, many of us would be in the dark. Is it just too early in the process and we will eventually be notified? I do not hear the noise, but my car falls within the dates where the TSB applies. lmp180psu Report post Posted June 3, 2013 I just checked the Ford owner site, and there isn't a notice for the tsb, but i do have a recall notice for the fuel delivery module replacement. Will call the dealer tomorrow about that.
expresspotato Report post Posted June 3, 2013 A TSB does not show on ETIS or Ford Owner - its for the technicians only to help diagnose and repair certain issues / problems.

milleron Report post Posted June 5, 2013 has anyone's dealer actually received the parts yet? or still just that the parts are on backorder and expected to be available from mid to late June? I have an appointment at 9 AM tomorrow, so I presume the parts are in. Everyone's information about a back order makes me wonder if they have something else in mind, such as an inspection, which they did not require when they told me they were ordering the thrust washers a week or two ago. Whether or not that's the case, I'll post the results of that service visit. 1 erichFla reacted to this
amlst29 Report post Posted June 5, 2013 Hello all! I joined this forum about a month ago specifically to follow this issue. Last Friday my dealer installed the new washers in line with TSB 13-5-24. I began hearing the click around 1500 miles and it progressively became more and more audible and annoying. I purchased my FFH in February 2013. The fix worked. No more clicking. I advise anyone with the issue to pressure their dealers into getting the parts and installing them. World of difference with the enjoy-ability of driving this car around town with the windows down. Thank you all for posting the TSB and keeping me sane through the process! 4 hybridbear, acdii, erichFla and 1 other reacted to this

Your dealer must have been among the first to read the TSB and order the thrust washers that your car has been fixed already while the rest of us are waiting for back ordered parts. Congrats! hermans Report post Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) Mine was also fixed yesterday and they ordered the parts a week ago. So far-so good. I had to print up the TSB and give it to the dealer. Edited June 6, 2013 by hermans
fusionTX Report post Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) I printed up the TSB and went to a dealer (not my dealer) and asked for parts to be ordered. I was told this was not a safety issue and they could not order parts until I, and the shop, verified there was a problem. I have not heard the noise yet, but it bothers me that I have to wait until there is an actual problem to get this fixed. Either there is a design problem or there is not. My car falls within the dates that the TSB applies to. Edited June 6, 2013 by fusionTX 1 milleron reacted to this
