Just wanted to say Hello! I'm thrilled to get getting a 26mpg difference from my 2013 FFH to my Jeep Wrangler 2013 lol! I could care less if I get 36mpg or 42mpg. Anyone wanna buy a wrangler

Significantly broke my personal commute record this morning, with 70.7 MPG for the ~26 mile trip. It was on city streets and the temperature was about 55°. There was a slight decline in elevation involved, but even with my return commute home, going back up in elevation, being at a paltry 49 MPG ;) , my average for the 50 mile commute for the day is at a hefty 60 MPG!! :skateboard:

 

Nice brake score too, that is one reason you are doing so well.

Excellent!! Your dashboard average will soar with regular trips like that!

 

I would like, however, to correct a fallacy in your calculated average. You can't simply take MPG figures for different trips, and divide by the number of trips to get an "average."

Assuming your return trip was exactly the same length, while you used .36 gallons in the morning, you probably used around .52 gallons in your 49 MPG return trip. That equals approximately .88 gallons for the day to travel 51.4 miles - 51.4/.88 = 58.4 MPGs for the day, which is still QUITE FANTASTIC! Congrats. :)

 

Another thing I've found is that the MPG calculations on the dash are based on more significant digits than what is shown on the Trip Summary. For example in my photo above, if I do the straight calculations based on the exact data shown, this is what I get:

 

25.7 / 0.36 = 71.4 (not the 70.7 which is shown in the Trip Summary above)

 

BTW, my commute this morning was about 5°-10° lower than yesterday, around 45° when I arrived at work. So I had to keep turning on the defrosters momentarily every few minutes to keep my windows clear, so my Trip Summary for my commute this morning was only at 62.2 MPG. But I'll still take that.

Finally! After 6 weeks of wierd weather, 30 mph headwinds going to and coming from work :twister: , 40 degree temperatures with headwinds, rain (in which the snowbirds and tourists don't know how to drive in Floirda rain :kookie:) and trip averages of less then 53 mpg, I finally hit 53 life time average... What did it was 4 days of "regular weather" and normal 56 to 60 mpg trips to and from work.

Iwill say MPG is like an obsession that grows with this vehicle told myself i would be happy with 41, now i'm upset when my winter commutes i cant get 45-47. Maybe summer will be better :) got more ground to make up for the previous owners 39mpg avg on my used FFH.

I got 41 on the way home this afternoon, Yeah. Been a bit low recently due to weather and headwind. Still getting between 38 and 43 though!!!! :)

Winter has been tough, but I'm pleased that my lifetime dash number has only dropped to 51.5, from a pre-winter high of 51.8 (it actually hit 51.9 once, for about a quarter mile).

 

Thankfully, this doesn't seem to be affected by remote start events! On the other hand, that feels a little like cheating.

Yes, as evidenced by the widening gap between my dash # and my Fuelly # this time of year. I actually like that the dash does not include remote start events, because it gives me a better feel for actual changes in efficiency for driving time only. Edited February 7, 2015 by md13ffhguy

I got one for fantasyland today just a short drive between two stops. Of course a 25 MPH speedlimit helps :)

We drove to Wisconsin on Sunday and got over 50 MPGe for the day. If I subtract out the electricity use it was about 55.4 MPG. The drive was about 110 miles of interstate driving at 65+ MPH and about 110 miles of country highway at 55+ MPH with scattered slow downs for small towns.

I have seen the 999.99 for small movements like backing the car out of garage. But the 161mpg is the highest I've seen for a trip over one mile. Is it statistically significant? Probably not, but it's fun nonetheless.

I had a short trip like that once too, and was amazed. It was actually a couple of miles at over 150MPG
