Rail tracking info

Can't find the post about tracking your vehicle once it is on the rails. Can anyone provide the link or info?

I copied this info from a post a couple weeks ago and emailed it to myself, to keep from driving myself crazy looking for it, if a railcar was referenced in my shipment. Hope it works for you -

 

Here's how to track your ETTX railcar.

1. Call CSX at 1-800-235-2352
2. When prompted for location or weight, press "1" on your phone for location.
3. When prompted for the car initials, say ETTX then wait for the next prompt. OR key in 32-81-81-92 (for ETTX)(letter and position on your phone)
4. When prompted for the car number, say or key in your 6-digit ETTX car number
5. When prompted for next car say DONE.

The dealer has that info. It will be on the update. The car is released and the next line of info should be the "shipped railcar ETTXxxxxx."

 

If your car is shipped by Union Pacific, as mine was, the number to call is 800-877-5123. Just follow the prompts and give the rail number when asked for it. As with CTX the railcar # includes the full letters and numbers.

I just called the number on your VIN and it said it just got detoured, next stop is some place called "Flat Rock - TBD"... OK maybe not.

24-7 even on holidays....I am surprised it didn't take the South route through Texas.

When mine was in transit I called twice a day, once in the morning and again at night. It was interesting to track the distance each day. I guess to much time on my hands?

Looking at a vehicle visibility report that another user uploaded back in November, it would show 2 and sometimes 3 different locations on a given day when the rail car was on the move (all depends on RFID checkpoints maybe?). So if you really want to play NORAD-tracks-Santa, you can call a few times and day and get the latest.

I beg to differ on the 27/7 movement. That isn't what I just saw on mine.

It showed the same departed SE San Antonio for three days starting on Christmas Eve.

San Antonio isn't THAT big. It took from the 24 until the 2nd to make it to my dealer ~220 mi.

Just sayin'.

They do move freight 24/7. Are you sure yours wasn't in a railyard junction waiting to be hooked to another train Mine sat in Dolton, Il rail junction waiting for it's East bound train. Union Pacific only goes so far East and ETX picked it up to continue the journey. It sat in Do;ton for a couple of days.

 

The train that took your railcar didn't deliver it to your railyard. It changed tranes at least once.

 

Believe me...they do work 24/7 and holidays.

Maybe it was just somebody in the reporting process that was taking a couple days off.

I could see times when it had arrived and stayed for a while. But, also departed and not arrived

at the next point for days. Like I said on UP train for 9 days from San Antonio to Houston dealer.

Into north east Houston, two days in yard, moved to North west (Spring yard) and two days to be unloaded.

I think your car took the Northern route because it is on it's hello tour.
