Folding Key

I recently got a folding key on ebay. $49! plus shipping. It came in less than a week. This is like the key used by VW, Audi etc. The regular key put a hole in my pocket. Plus it is cool. My dealer cut and programmed it free, but it is easy to progam and a decent hardware store can cut it. Check it out by searching "Fusion flip key" Seller is Artiway. Great service. I had a question which he resolved in minutes!

I will add to the positive comments. Got mine in the mail yesterday. Fast shipping. I have already programmed the remote part (door lock/unlock, trunk), and am having the key cut at my dealer today. Then I can program the transponder part of it. The Parts Dept. kept saying you have to bring the car in, and we will cut it and program it for $50, but I finally got them to understand that I only wanted a key cut. Period.

Will be happy to hang the other keys on the wall!!!

OK, just to end my input on this....

My dealer cut the key for free!

Drove home, and in 10 seconds, programmed the transponder. All works fine!

So, hung the two original keys on the wall, have the flip key and I am happy!

Well, 99% happy.......I am used to having any car key have the ability to put a key ring on it, and attach things like your house key, those grocery store discount tags, etc. Not possible with this flip key...oh well.

You can buy small key rings, and the key has a place that you can attach a small key ring to. Just use the small ring as a jump ring and attach that instead of the key directly to your normal ring.

No chance of this becoming 'un-programmed' is there? I would hate to be stranded

Can't see how it would be different than any other remote.

Hi spartanrob. :D If the flip-key you purchased contains a good quality (OEM?) transponder chip, then it's failure rate should be no worse than a regular OEM Ford key.

 

However, we do not know the answer to that "transponder chip quality" question.
